Actually, The Aftermath and Altered were mixed by Kevin Killen, and I mixed Action At A Distance - which explains why the first two sound better …

Upcoming B-sides

August 1st, 2005 by peter >

Three more White Limo B-sides have been mixed and are on the way to the Members Only area.

Duncan mixed The Aftermath, Altered, and Action At a Distance the other night, three tracks from the White Limousine sessions that didn’t make the final version of the record. These three songs will also appear on a Limited Edition EP that will be available for purchase at upcoming shows, so keep an eye out for that, too.

Also, the EP features my sweet art design: BONUS. It’s all about Cooperplate Light up on the EP, partly because I dig it, but mostly because we don’t have any fancy fonts. As always, major ups to Todd Lester without whom neither the Members Only area nor the EP would be realities. Also because he turned me on to the fly solar-powered iPod charger that I’m totally getting for my trek through the Andes trip to the beach.

Anyways, they’re going up in the M.O. soon. I’ll post an update when they’re there.

UPDATE: I forgot. When you’re in the M.O. area, make sure you’re downloading the tracks, not streaming them directly from the site. For you Mac users, that means Ctrl-click / Download Linked File As… (or, alternately, Option-clicking the link, which will automatically download it if you’re running OS X, which you should be) and for you WinDoze folks, Right-click / Save Target As… It helps us conserve bandwith, which helps you be able to download songs faster. Anyway, there it is. Thanks.

Well, that was fun. Why do I like the “acoustic” shows more?

See you guys in PA (I hope).

A Few Things …

July 22nd, 2005 by duncan >

I’m working with Micah today and Chris Garneau this weekend. Somewhere in the midst of that I will try to mix these other White Limo B-sides for you guys and post them on the M.O. section this coming week. You know what they say, “mime is money”.

So, we were kind of getting our sea legs out there last night, thanks for being patient with the not so perfect bits. And there was a little confusion as to how long we could play. They initially told us to finish by ten, but then the reggae band that was supposed to play afterwards didn’t show. So we could have (and would have) played more songs but we didn’t get the memo. Anyway, it was nice to be with the band again and we’ll be working more new songs into the set in August. Thanks so much to everyone who was there. Isn’t David Poe the best?

The Goldhawk

Well, that was fun last night. It was nice to have Fil Kronengold playing keyboards, and Gerry, of course. Tonight’s show will
be the same lineup and Sat. will be full band, just so you know.

Gustafer Yellowgold

July 9th, 2005 by duncan >

If you have young kids and live near NYC, you have to take them to go see “Gustafer Yellowgold’s Wide Wild World”. My fellow “Rock Band” mate Morgan Taylor will do the show again in 2 weeks, Saturday, July 23 at 1:30 PM at The Living Room on Ludlow St. It’s truly great. Go to gustaferyellowgold.com for more info …

The Nightingale

July 4th, 2005 by duncan >

Hi Everyone,

So it looks like we (Steven Sater and I) are going to do another workshop of “The Nightingale” in NYC at the end of November. I doubt it will be open to the public (though I wish it were) but we are are doing the workshop with an eye to doing a “real” production at La Jolla Rep next year. The workshop will be directed by Des McAnuff who won a Tony for his musical theater version of the Who’s “Tommy”.

Happy 4th of July to all you patriots …

Tour Posters

June 29th, 2005 by peter >

FYI. There are Tour Posters available for download here.

Tell your friends.

Duncan’s stoked to get back on the road, and hopefully, after these pre-release shows, we can visit some of the (incredible number of) places you’re all from.

ALSO: Members should stay tuned for another White Limousine B-Side (next week, probably).

UPDATE: Poster files have been updated to include the photo credit. Apologies to Cici for forgetting to include it.

More shows …

June 23rd, 2005 by duncan >

O.K. it looks like the “Places I’m Playing” page has been updated and is accurate through the end of August.
It’s not up yet but I’ll be playing Nashville on Sep.2 and Asheville, N.C. sep. 3rd. I plan on doing a west coast run the last two weeks of Sep. and a northeast run starting in the middle of Oct. (There’s a show in Bayshore NY at a nice theatre on Oct. 15). Things will get more specific over the next couple of weeks.

It’s a small world after all …

June 15th, 2005 by duncan >

Hi,

I was just curious where everyone was from. Or, rather, where you live now. There seems to be some folks from foreign lands, which is always nice, but I’d love to hear where everyone is posting from. Unless you want to remain mysterious, which is also fine.

Iron Horse

June 11th, 2005 by duncan >

I’m actually very sad that there are no more shows booked for the next month or so. It was great to see eveyone who came out to the show last night. But I’ve got to get a few more things sorted out with respect to the record release, and there’s just not enough time. Anyway … does anyone have any new CD recommendations? (I’m driving back to the city with Doug and we need something to listen to for the drive.) Let me know.

David Poe

June 9th, 2005 by duncan >

David had his record release party last night at Joe’s Pub in NYC and he and his band were most excellent. Y’all should run out and get his new release Love is Red. David asked me to play a few songs with them which was really fun (for me anyway). Also David and I produced the “radio” version of his first single So Beautiful so start calling your local radio stations and bug them to play it. Please.

UPDATE: Love is Red doesn’t drop until June 21, but you can pre-order it from Amazon here.

I just saw her at the knitting factory tonight. Pretty special, I must say. She does almost all instrumental, alternate guitar tuning pieces and they are both gorgeous and rocking at various moments.
She’s playing the night before I am at the Iron Horse so check her out if you are in that hood.

Songs From an Unmade Bed

June 2nd, 2005 by duncan >

I just saw the show last night at New York Theatre Workshop and it was really well done. If you are into “art songs” (and in NYC) you should definitely check it out. I’m biased because I have a song in the show, but there it is …

Finished, for now …

May 29th, 2005 by duncan >

I just got home from finishing the first round of mixes for White Limo. I’m sure we will make a few changes before it’s all said and done but Kevin Killen did a great job. And I’m truly exhausted. It will be interesting to hear it all tomorrow …

Covers

May 25th, 2005 by duncan >

Hi There,

So, as some of you know, the “Covers Album #1″ is up in the M.O. section. I know a lot of these songs are not so new, but I want to make sure they are available for people who don’t have them. And these may be better quality downloads then some of the earlier versions. I’m pretty sure this version of Court and Spark is extremely rare and I Am A Pilgrim is brand new. It is on the soundtrack of an indie movie called Transamerica that was in the Berlin Film Festival this year. Let me know what you think …
