And no one to choke... My gosh, I HATE this new job, thank gosh i am going away in two weeks (7 more hellish days in this place)... I think if I were here any longer I would have to call up Tony Soprano and take a hit out on Bill Gates... Stupid Access, Stupider Excel... And tomorrow, I get to take minutes, I have never taken minutes, because I hate them, I refuse to even apply for jobs with minute taking involved... I have decided I want back my life of relaxation...Any rich guys around that want to support me? Oh hell, any rich women? IP: Logged |

What's your job? I can understand Stupid Access - that's the program from HELL, right there. Stupid Excel isn't too bad. You want I should call my family to whack somebody for ya? (joking!) I had a boss like that once way back when I was a secretary (excuse me, Administrative Assistant). I wanted to strangle her every minute of the day: she's forget to tell me things, and then make me out to be incompetent because I didn't read her mind. Glad I was only a temp - I filed a complaint about her with my agency and straight-up quit. Had another job within 2 days. Glad I'm a teacher now and only have to deal with the occasional enraged parent or sadistic administrator. Bronwen IP: Logged |

I work for the Toronto District School Board, but have just been doing per diem work until I luck into a full-time position (admin assistant). I have been mostly doing work for contracted services, which means Human Resource Canada pays the Toronto Board offer services, mostly employment based projects. Right now I am actually working in a project that holds a great amount of interest to me, it is to assist youth with disabilities in finding work, which is really cool, and the project itself thrills me, because my brother has a disability and I know how hard it was for him to find work, but doing budgets do not thrill me, I hate math...And stupid me suggested we try organizing the computer with folders, files are all over the place, which not only did the manager think was a great idea (and I could do that with my hands tied behind my back) but she decided we should take the idea of folders into the budget and rather than have the budget on one spreadsheet seperate the catagories into seperate files, therefore have one file for mileage, one for office supplies and so forth... Which is great but the formulas were done wrong in the first place so I have had to figure what was wrong with them and then work from there, and of course I do not have hard copies of any bills (apparently they grew wings) so I have to rely on the half-assed information that last person left. Apparently though I lucked out, per diem employees are not allowed to attend staff meetings which means, I am not taking minutes tomorrow, which is also great because I have a doctors appointment (which she knows about) in the middle of the meeting... And she keeps calling me Ingrid, which is sooooooo not my name... IP: Logged |

Jenn, Two weeks and you will be here in sunny Texas having the time of your life, hehe. All you have to do is make it through one more week and a half. (Just keep telling yourself that). IP: Logged |

So now you know: never volunteer anything exciting at work because you'll be stuck doing it, along with any permutation of it that others can think of. Of course, this only applies if you're a temp/per-diem employee. At least your boss thinks you're fab. And so do we. Bronwen IP: Logged |

7 Work days, although now it is 6... It is actually 12 more days until I leave...12 days and I have not even packed yet, OH MY GOSH, it is okay though because I was considering going naked, that way there is no chance they would strip search me at the airport... Oh hey Denise, since you will probably read this, and it will be fast to just respond, can the girls eat chocolate (or is only there mother allowed)? IP: Logged |

Jenn, They love chocolate. They are allowed to eat chocolate, as long as it is before like eight o'clock at night, unless I am going somewhere and they are gonna be left at home with their father, muhahahahhaha! IP: Logged |

I took a computer class last year where I had to 'learn' Access (among other programs). I didn't figure out how to use it till the final exam. You know, lecturing about using computers really doesn't do any good. You have to use the things via trial and error. Wonderful college I go to. Spending $$$ to build a fancy sidewalk too but that's another thread... So, I feel your pain with Access. Andrew Poe IP: Logged |

That is the horrible sad part about the whole thing Andrew, I have taken those long boring classes on how to use Excel and Access, spending close to 6 months on each of them, apparently in theory I can apply to write an exam to be qualified to teach them, hahaha, in reality however I still have no clue what I am doing...
