This is a place to talk about Music your grooving to.

What are you listening to? (And tell us about it. Like it?)
Love it?
Why?????? or brief description.

As for me at the moment:

Beth Orton.... "DayBreaker" is an excellent choice. Take special note of "Paris Train" and "Concrete Sky," with Matt Johnson on the drums. Oh, how could I forget the pulsating Chinese Whisperd... Beth's singing and musical orchestration is superb.

For something totally different and very, very cool... Meshell Ndegeocello newest work, "Cookie: The Anthropological Mixtape." Political, speaks to the growing young people of her race today, great Bassist, Stylist, Singer and Speaker of her Mind. Very deep and socially beautiful in textute and Jazz riffs. I recommend any of her CD's. Great beat for whatever you may be doing!!!!!

2002 Release

Well, I have been listening to Daylight quite a bit when I am on my computer thanks to amazon.com. I love every song on the cd. I also have been listening to what I can hear of the new Filter, which isn't much at this point. I have also fallen in love with the new song "Keep Fishin" by Weezer. The video for the song is great, it is supposed to be an episode of the muppet show and Animal is playing the drums. It is great! For those who have not seen it go to www.launch.com and see the video. Well that is what I am listening to right now. Just waiting to get all this on cd so I can listen to it in the car.

*"The Best Of" - The Velvet Underground. This is when rock n roll wasn't dead and I wasn't even born yet. "Heroin" is just pure rock at it's finest.

*"Sha Sha" - Ben Kweller. Woo you should be listening to Ben Kweller. He's like Weezer meets Ben Folds. Sort of nerd rock, but an incredible songwriter (he's really young too!)

*"Doolittle" - The Pixies. This CD is an old favorite of mine but a couple weeks ago I fell in love with it all over again. I think the Pixies and Fugazi are in competition for "Greatest Indie Rock Ever."

Ed Harcourt- Here Be Monsters. This CD is awesome- "Beneath the Heart of Darkness" especially. Also, I find myself listening to "God Protect Your Soul" and "She Fell Into my Arms" repeatedly.

The Police- Every Breath You Take. It's a "greatest hits" collection that I got for my 15th birthday. I love it.

Jack Johnson- Brushfire Fairytales. Simple, excellent music with intelligent lyrics.

Starsailor- Love is Here. I just love the album. Not much else to say. If you have it you know what I mean.

And, of course, all my Duncan albums, plus others that I'm too lazy to write. I brought then to Germany with me and got my cousin into Duncan and Ed Harcourt. Very thumbs up.
Smiles,
Sybil

"Renaissance".... Live From Royal Albert Hall...... or for that matter any of their stuff. (Classical Influence) They did some pretty great stuff and Annie's voice I have always been in love with.

Silvia,
If Daylight isn't released there, I'd be more than happy to send you a copy (when it comes out)! Did you ever get Phantom Moon? Let me know!
Anything for a Duncan Fan.

For the past week, Jewel's "This Way" has been in my cd player. I love the way she experiment's with folk. My focus at the moment are "The New Wild West" and "Grey Matter." Good stuff. Beautiful vocals.

Tina,

YOU'RE SO NICE!!!!! No, I never got a chance to get Phantom Moon I just have the first 2 ones. I thought about getting it from the internet but I don't like buying things thru the internet. I don't really trust it. I know it's safe and everything but I still feel funny about it. Go figure...I'd be more than thrilled if you could get me a copy of Daylight, but how would I pay you back? I could mail you the money.
You know, I'm so amazed at your kindness and generosity (and everyone else's for that matter). I mean, you're nice to everyone here and you don't really know most of them! Really, that's great. I'm not kissing ass or anything, I'm just amazed. Sometimes we don't get this kind of treatment from people around us... DUNCAN FANS ARE THE BEST
I bet you had spelled my name Sylvia, right? I get that a lot!

Back to the topic...
today I decided to listen to one of my old cds of a brazilian singer called Marisa Monte, who I love. She writes great music. A while back I was listening to Chris Cornell a lot. Great CD.

I have been listening non-stop to John Mayer's "Inside Wants Out", since the moment I got it, I love it, I love it, I love it (I think had I been home when it came I would have kissed the post man)...This CD actually makes me glad of the almost hour long train ride I have every morning.

But the song that is stuck on default in my head has to be "Long Time Gone" by the Dixie Chicks, I can not wait until Tuesday for the CD. I do not even actually know all the words, but I make them up the beat itself is so damn catchy.

Oh yeah and I still listen to the Moulin Rouge soundtrack more often then I should admit. And I have returned to Garth (although we all know I never really left him, and his sexy feet)

I just got the Coldplay CD (I'm a bit behind, I know) and immediately fell in love with it. I've been listening to it nonstop!
