Okay I am not talking about myself, although given the subject I am sure many of you thought I would be...This morning I was driving to work and had this guy driving infront of me, get out of his car, started screaming insults at me and just all around went crazy, apparently he wanted me to drive a block behind him, as he did 30km in a 60km zone. At one point I had even tried to change lanes to get away from him, and he changed lanes at the exact same time I was about to, so I stayed in my lane, and then he cut back infront of me and proceded to slam on his breaks every few meters and at green lights (I was far enough away from him that I could stop safely with the exception of the green light when I was forced to slam on my breaks as well). So when he got out of his car and was screaming (you shoulda heard the names he called me, out of politness I will not post them)I decided to just pull around him and drive away, I got several blocks away and could still see him out of his car jumping around, and before I knew it he raced up to get behind me and proceded to drive inches away from me or if he left space coming towards a red light he would drive full speed right up to me and then slam on his breaks just before actually hitting me, I think at one point he even tapped my car. So I turned right on a street near my work, and took side streets in, by the time I got the street I work on he was at the top of it, but continued to drive east and I pulled into the parking lot. I called the police when I got into work and they told me I had to go directly to the nearest police station and make a report. The officer I spoke to said that they would probably charge him for the 'road rage' and asked if I would go to court if they did, which of course I agreed to. I tell you folks this city is full of idiots. IP: Logged |

Jenn, I am glad that you are ok. That is scarry, who knows what a nut like that would have done. Sounds like your day was a bit more exciting then you wanted. I hope the rest of your day is better! IP: Logged |

Jenn: The main thing is that you're okay, which is very important. What would we do without our Jenn! However, "road rage" is one of those things that can get too violently out of control, and sometimes it leads in physical injury or death. You did the right thing, and you should do what you can to make sure this guy gets the book thrown at him.Richard IP: Logged |

Trust me Richard it took a lot of restraint for me not to get out of the car and punch him (I do not generally go around punching people, I never have actually hit anyone). Although I have to confess although I would like them to charge him I would pay money to see his face when the police contact him. And just lets say I am finding a new way to work tomorrow morning... There's nothing wrong with a change of scenery, especially considering what happened to you today. Richard IP: Logged |

which city did this happen? People are seriously taking out their problems on the road. I think this road rage thing is an excuse to take out their problems on a stranger. It seems easier that way then to face their issues. These people are such cowards to target others to let out repressed feelings. Say that it's not about repressed feelings, that is in fact actually about their short-tempers, and anxious in driving, then I said seek a self-help group. This is ridicious! IP: Logged |

I think that stems a bit farther from "road rage" because from your story you didn't do anything that should have made him upset. Now you on the other had all the reasons to get pissed off at him, but I must say that you did so well in not loosing your cool as well. I am glad that you did not get hurt but this nut. Having driven around many nuts ( though not that bad i think) I know how unsafe they really can be. Crystal ~~~~++++~~~~ IP: Logged |
