Summer going fast butI'm still in school so I haven't had the time to learn much, but I've tried:

Rock Climbing.
Distance Running.
Swimming.
Distance Biking.
Rollerblading.
Speaking French.
Learning how to Salsa.
Trying to cook like Emeril.

I decline to say what I've gotten good at
~RENA~

Tell me what you guys have learn new this summer?

What did I learn this summer? That's actually a good question.

Right now, I'm in the middle of learning how to fix different things around the house. I put together my eliptical machine all by myself, which made me proud. I also fixed the pump hooked to my swimming pool. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not that good at fixing things. Yet, I'm a lot better now than when the summer began.

I also learned how to say dirty words in five different languages. By working with international students all day, I can pick up a lot of interesting stuff from them. No one will understand me when I cuss them out on the road now!

Finally, I learned that the Baltimore Orioles will never hit the .500 mark this season. No matter how many times they reach the one win below .500 mark, they will always go on a losing streak. There's always next year, but judging by some of the idiots that run the Orioles, it might be an unlikely proposition as well.

I am really trying to learn guitar but I play it left and have a righthand strung guitar. I am thinking I will force myself to play it right since I am a little ambidextrous. I have learned I will be back in school sooner than I thought which is scary since it means getting more loans. Oh well

i've learned:
1) how to be a better surfer
2) that if you want something done right, you'll just have to do it yourself.
3) arena football is boring as hell

I learnt:

That I dislike people in general (yeah I had a momentary lapse in which I thought I liked them).

That some people think that being a perfectionist is not a good thing ( I still think it is though)

That it is easier to handle money when I have none.

I ran into an Expert Con-Artist today at the Supermarket. The stuff he was telling me was so good, that it almost was believable. Be careful guys. He was about late 40's- 50's. We talked for oh over an hour.

Mostly I just was listening to him.

I've learnt that even though it is summer, it sure can rain a hell of a lot.

I'm also learning to play guitar. Some of Duncan's music is tricky...but I taught myself to play "That Says It All". I'm super proud of myself.

A note to George: My sister is learning to play guitar right handed even though she's left and it's been working out for her so far. Hope it works out for you too! Just keep at it.

School is over for the summer, but I don't think it hit me yet. I'm free? I'm really free!

Oh yeah.. learning anything over my summer brake.....

Well there is my ever onward quest in learning how to write and finish a novel ( this is not working out too well, having been trying for about 7 years now, but I am determined as ever )

And then there is my love affair with the guitar... and this has been much better than the novel buisness, though much shorter. ( I hit my one year anniversary in August) My tip for you guys learning how to play is that you should not quit. The more you practice the better you will get. Practice is the key in the begining. If you don't have large blocks of time to practice, I think it is better to do some than nothing at all, like 5-10 minutes or something like that. The key is to keep on playing.

Crystal,
I am a writer as well. Just wanted to say never put your pen down (or stop typing). I've been working on so many stories recently, I felt like my brain would burst. My biggest problem is that when I start on one of my story lines, I am inspired to work on new story lines. I'm currently working on one novel in which 5 novelettes sprung off. It's so frustrating sometimes, but nevertheless exciting, and addictive to write.

Enjoy writing your Novels,
~RENA~

I write as well. I found this program at a local college that offers three different levels to guide you through writing a novel, I am planning on taking the first in the fall. Although I admit it is the last class I have a greater interest in, it focuses on the marketing of your book and how to get published, but figured I may as well take them all.

I'm a marketing major, suppose that would be good for my novel, that is if I can ever finish it.

I've learned how to change a tire, and how to not speed. Got a speeding ticket that I have to pay, and that's $90 I don't have.
