Okay so I napped outside, after being outside washing my car, and giving myself a pedicure, I am a bright crisp red, but somehow I am really proud of this, without a doubt it will be the most colour I get all year, and it will all be gone in two days. I burn for like a day or two and then I go back to white, not tanned. Does anyone have an explaination for why this happens, why I get white again?

Hehe- I'm the opposite Jenn- I NEVER get sunburn. I'm also naturally tanned, but somehow I manage to get an unwanted tan every summer. It's irritating.

haha. i haven't been out all summer. but for me, i usually live outside on the water when i go wakeboarding. i put on tanning lotion, and then i get a pretty nice tan. you just have to remember to turn over every 15 minutes!!

right now i am so white. let's just say i have no tan lines at all. it's pretty cool being white though. no one would guess i'm cuban.

everyone's got different skin, everyone tans/burns differently.

i'm in california now so i'm definitely working on not being that pasty shade i normally sport. . . going to the beach everyday with my cd player and a bottle of tanning oil

I get naturally tanned. I'm Mexican American so I already have brown skin and I live in Houston so the sun is always out. I always get tanned, even if I don't want to cause I have to go out alot.

But my roomate is also Mexican-American but she is very white and can't tan. She hates it and always complains about it during the summer cause she only burns.

I'm a 30 sunblock kinda girl myself, hehe. I did find this great mist on tan though. Looks natural without the damaging affects from the sun. I am not gonna fight the aging process, however I am not gonna help it out either. LOL!

I feel ya Jenn. I went swimming a few weeks ago, used spf 50 3 times, and got sunburned really really bad. Especially on my chest. It blistered and I still have lil white bumpy thing's. But yea, I'm white as a ghost now, like usual! The sun sucks.

well now i have some sunburn. earlier in the week, i went swimming at the beach, but used spray on sunblock so my shoulders and face were a nice red color for a couple of days. and today i slightly burned my arms and face while surfing. ouch.

Well I have sunburn now too and i was using 30, went out last night and bought some 45 sunblock, lets hope this works. I forget that the sun here in Texas is a tad bit stronger than what I was used to in PA.

See the deal is with sunblock is that you have to keep putting more on. And even then you still can get tanned if not burn, and this sadly I know from a fresh expereince. Yesterday I was at the shore and put on 30 spf like all the time and my face is a painful red. I even used Zinc oxide...which is meant to be very protective. I burn easier because of some medication I am on, so that is another factor to consider.

I'm the same way...either white as a ghost or red as a lobster! It has to do with the mount of the brown pigment melanin that's in our skin...the less you have of it,the less capable you are of bronzing.
