Its late and I cant sleep. Fantastic. Time to clear the air a bit and start a new topic. Whats your dirty little secret?

Bless me father for I have sinned. Its been...forever since my last confession. Sorry Ive been avoiding you. But Ive heard you have kept yourself quite busy without my silly little problems.

But I have a confession. I really really like something horrible. Its just wrong. And if I am going to take the plunge, Im taking all of you with me.

So, name a movie, or actor / actress, song, group, tv show, whatever! that you know in your gut is bad. Just bad..cheesey...You friends make fun of it. And you laugh and giggle too. But when you go home, you have to watch.

For me.

Movie: No one has watched this movie. Its impossible. Surf Ninjas. Its a god awful surf movie. Made about 5 yrs ago i think. About 2 kids who get super ninja powers and become princes of a tropical island. Which they surf to get there. Yes its that bad. But ive seen the movie atleast 20 times. I think I almost know all the dialogue by heart. I havent watched it in a few years. I wonder if someone spent the money to rerelease it on dvd. I could never buy it! Lets take a peek at a piece of my library to see what it would like like.

Requiem for a dream
Pi
Complete Monty Python Box set
Tape
Metropolis
Donnie Darko
The Usual Suspects
Surf Ninjas
Memento

It just doesnt work. What would my friends say?

The older bro in the movie is so cute. But he is really...shall we say..dim. About the level of Pauly Shore. (i think i just exposed someone's confession. Anyone really love pauly movies?) But his hair is so shiny. I think he is waiting tables in Planet Hollywood by now.

Im so embarassed. Go rent it and laugh at me.

Alright. One more.

I think Hanson are talented musicians. No Im not being sarcastic. Give them a couple years. I think we will be suprised. I listened to their first album (the mmmcrap record) more than once. It wasnt good. But their next one wasnt so bad.

I feel clean. Or maybe that's soap scum.

hehe. Ricky Martin. I want him to shake his bon bon just for me. Hey, Ericka likes Hanson, so I got Ricky.

I can't think of anything else right now....I'll think of something.

Oh my god thank you for admitting that you like Hanson. I recently came out of the Hanson-liking closet. Its good to know that someone with good taste also likes Hanson.

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. It has been four months since my last confession. I have done something terrible Father! I have had sexual relations with a man whom I knew to be married, and with a child of his own!

To make things worse, I willingly obliged him when I was working for him, secretly harbouring a desire to further my position at work.

I would like to publicly apologize to his wife, and also his child for leading him away and allow him to indulge. It is over and it will never happen again, I have truly learned my lesson and realise that my selfish acts have only hurt myself in the end of it all. Please forgive me!

Sincerely,
Monica Lewinsky

Okayyy, that was a bit mean sorry, I guess I am just in a sick sorta mood!

My little secret obsession is anything Coen Brothers. Not only do I have all the movies, but then I have to have all the scripts so I can read them too!

Obsession number two is Stephen King. I am one of his "faithful readers" and have all the first editions....cuz I simply can't wait for paperback....sad, sad, sad life and I hope his kiddies value their university experience...since I won't be able to put my own thru school for the amt of dough I've spent LOL

oh, the carnal one...I actually bought both sdtk's to the Wedding Singer, I love cheese 80's...but was really after Adam Sandler's song "somebody kill me please"

So YOURE the one secretly buying all those King novels in B&N.; Thats ok. As long as you stay away from Who Moved My Cheese, youre fine.

Sandler music? Who knew there were 2 sdtrks to the Wedding Singer.

The Coen Bros. are perfectly acceptable! I think Fargo is a modern classic!

But the Lawrence (or is it Laurence?) bros (Matthew, Joey and the little not so cute one), then you have a problem. I just flipped to tv movie of theirs on Disney. Oh delightful cheese! (No A/C in my apt. Its so goddamn hot i would clean my apt but movement means heat and i just froze some banana slices and I cant wait till they are done!)
Matthew grew up to look Nice! Just like his big bro Joey. I only know those two from Joeys delightful singing career (i dont own an album. relax. i just read about it). Matthew was in my generation of Big Bobber and other teeny mags; so I saw a new pic of his face practially every week in those stupid mags. They also had a show on network tv a few years ago. Something about them working in a carshop...

Just a comment about the Hanson topic: I like them, too, and have their CDs (their Christmas CD is even OK), but I look at them in a different way, I think... from a mom's perspective. I have two teenage boys - one plays the drums and one guitar - and I know how hard they have to work at it. Those Hanson boys have alot of musical talent and have had since an early age. I admire that.

yah but according to Huey of FLC fame, "that Hanson kid has the dirtiest mouth...he is filthier than me!" I *think* that was '99 MTV moosic awards, the same year that Manson was banned due to a fart directed at the crowd....

OK, I confess I have the Archies vinyl, featuring the wacky hits of the Riverdale gang such as; "Everything's Archie, Truck Driver" personally Betty & Veronica didn't have enough musical influence on that album!

I know I made fun of Hanson in one of the little plays a few of us did months ago. However, in my humble opinion, I think Hanson's going to become one of those bands that will make some good music in the future. There's something in their last CD, "This Time Around," that suggests that they're trying to shed their old image as teen idols and produce some legitimate music. To me, they have some more growing to do, but when you compare them to the other boy bands and pop princesses, Hanson is as mature as you can get.

Which one was taylor? The middle one? Or the oldest? Did they even break 20
yet? Why in the hell are they getting married?

Good choice on the Brandon Boyd. Your sis is getting better taste in men ;-)

Taylor is the middle one. I'm pretty sure he's 19 or something. I read a thing about it on the news section of mtv.com. The guy has good taste. David Garza played at his wedding. David Garza is awesome.

I used to be addicted to the movie "License to drive" with Corey Haim. I actually saw it a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed myself

About the wedding singer soundtracks...
they're actually pretty good! my favorite song is the one one sandler sings at the end, in the plane...it's just sweet. Yep, you can call me cheesy!!

Confessions......... hmmmmm
Lets see I have got two for you guys here, OTHER than the Hanson thing. ..... Speaking of which....

I heard the reason that Taylor got married is because he got the girl he married pregnant. Go Figure.

Ok my confessions... I had, or have. a thing for Jonathan Taylor Thomas.. AKA: JTT. Yeah his popularity happened some time ago, but you can't hide the fact that I had all of those 16 magazines and the alike. I had quite a collection going. PLus I would watch Home Improvement, like every night..... scary I know.

Confession #2: Blue's Clues. And by this I mean the "old" Blue's Clues, the Steve episodes. I don't care for that new guy pretending to be Steve's brother. It was great there for a time.

I love Blues Clues!! I am a 20 yr old with no children and every sick day (or holiday) I cant wait for freaking blues clues. Its so soothing. I think its the colors they use. And they talk so slow. It just sets me at ease. I dunno how I feel about the new guy, whatshis name? Joe? He is more animated than Steve. And i think he is my age (if you were a 20 yr old actor or trying to be an actor, what would posses you to do children television? You would think he would be going out for Dawson Creek parts) and seems to be doing pretty well. They use too much makeup though. Its always so heavy. They are a shade of rouge away from clown territory.

Another JTT fan. Oh the memories. I loved those Teeny mags as a kid (like it was so long ago). He wasnt my fav. My heart was set on Jonathan Brandis. Older men. :sigh:

You probably dont remember him. He was on this tv show (with the guy who did Jaws. Rob something.) called SeaQuest. Like a cheap star trek underwater. There was a dolphin that talked (this was my phase where i was a vegetarian and wanted to save the planet. Christ what happened? When did I get so bitter?) and Jonathan Brandis played Lucas, the boy genius who knew how to talk to the dolphin. How awful. It really is fantastic.

JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE- another Jonathan Taylor Thomas fan? Yes... this has encouraged me to announce my love for him. I even have that 2000 calendar buried at the bottom of my sock drawer (I get teased way way way too much for that calendar). If you go to the favorite movie ever topic you'll see one of my picks is Walking Across Egypt, with him and Ellen Burstyn and Mark Hamil (Luke Skywalker). It's a really really good movie, even if you don't like him. I even have some of his tv appearances on tape. Ok, that's enough for now. Anyway... there's my secret, if you can call it that.
Sybil
p.s. Springroz- I remember Jonathan Brandis. I loved (past tense) SeaQuest. And then he did that movie with Ashley from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Where'd he go?

I have no idea what movie with Ashley from Fresh Prince you are talking about, but he was dating her for a while. I guess they broke up, bc i think she is dating someone else.

The most recent thing I have seen Jonathan Brandis in is an Ang Lee film called Ride With the Devil. He isnt that bad in it. Skeet Ulrich and Tobey McGuire and Jewel. I own the dvd (this is the true confessions thread right? I bought the thing bc I am an an Ang Lee fan. HONEST!) bc I had to know if he had perfected his craft. He hasnt. But you get to see some of Ang Lee's early work. And how about that Spiderman?
He was also in Outside Providence with one of the Baldwins. It came on Comedy Central this past weekend, which I didnt watch. It looks like a bad movie.

Where the hell did Jonathan Taylor Thomas go? Last thing I remember him in was Man of the House which I had the privilage of watching on a plane to LA a few years ago.

I'm with ya both, too. Hanson are wise musicians way beyond their years. I was incredibly impressed with how their sophmore album sounded (although, I don't actually own it... I adored "If Only" That was one rockin' lil ditty!) With cameos from John Popper and Jonny Lang, you know Hanson are in it for their passion of music! And good music at that. I admit it, Hanson is GOOD!!

This makes me think back to when I met my boyfriend. We're both music nerds and I mentioned to him how I have this incredible amount of respect for Hanson and their craft. Needless to say, he was the first (and possibly only) guy that I ever met that *agreed* with me! Not only do these guys write and play their own music, they produce it too! In this day and age, that calls for a tremendous amount of praise. And even more because it's of quality!

Rock on, boys!

*Maria

Springroz, you would've loved my last internship. I was a packaging intern for Mattel. I wrote copy and took photos of toys, including... BLUE'S CLUES!

On one faithful summer day in NYC, they had Steve's *real* shirts delivered to us for use in a demo video! My wrist even made a cameo. I was in charge of pressing the toy to activate the sound. It's practically like I met Steve-o himself It was a riot.

There was this really bad TV movie w/ Brandis and the Fresh Prince girl. Something about a ghost I think. They show it on Lifetime these days. Oh yeah- how was Ride With the Devil? I wanted to check that out.
I heard Jonathan Taylor Thomas ended up in Harvard. Way to go.

Ride with the Devil is ok at best. Not worth buying but worth seeing. Ang Lee loves his pretty pictures and rolling hills sweeping into the film. He really loves good storytelling and really tries with this movie.

Its about Skeet Ulrich as a southerner during the start of Civil War. Brandis is a friend of his. McGuire is his younger brother. Ulrich falls in love with Jewel. The boys go and fight the war but the battle goes bad and they end up camping out in a cave with Jewel. Then they leave and have to recover their life after the south lost.

So go see it just to see all the weird facial hair.

Behold the Power of IMDB! Do you see that tv movie?

Fall Into Darkness- I recognized it from the melodramatic Lifetime-type title. Imdb's very handy. Found out Jim Caviezel was in Ride With the Devil. Interesting.

Never heard of it. But I can give you a laundry list of cartoons i do watch on a regular basis.

Spongebob Squarepants
Blues Clues (whenever I can really)
Any old Scooby Doo.
Batman Beyond is pretty good.

Many many things on cartoon Netweork such as
Dexter
Anything on their Anime block (Toonami)
Anything on their "adult" cartoons block (Adult Swim)
Any show on where they show old cartoons from the 40s and 50s. (Tex Avery, Toonheads, etc.)

and who can forget Southpark. Though I dont really consider that a cartoon. its animated chaos.

I'm ashamed of liking Céline Dion and Laura Pausini

Springroz, why the hell do you feel ashamed of liking REQUIEM FOR A DREAM? It's a WONDERFUL movie and the reviews are great... didn't get it...

I'm sorry for liking SCREAM and HARRY POTTER (the latter I just love... the book of course... the movie sucks)

Urban Legends
Spice World
Moulin Rouge (it's great, but everybody likes it, so it's not original to like it)
