Ok, the latest song by Sheryl Crow "I wanna soak up the sun" or whatever it is called, ANNOYS ME! I don't know what it is about that song, but it just like crawls under my skin and annoys the crap out of me. I think it may be because it is soo happy and fake. Well to me it is. And the other song that really bothers me is "Red red wine" by I don't know who. THOSE SONGS KILL ME! So, are there any songs that annoy you guys and gals? Jen ![]() IP: Logged |

I personally believe that Sheryl Crow and Jeff Trott have written better songs than "Soak Up the Sun." In my opinion, I feel their lyrics on this song are trite at best, as she sings lines like "It's not having what you want/It's wanting what you've got" or "I'm gonna soak up the sun/While it's still free/I'm gonna soak up the sun/Before it goes out on me." Its like they're both trying to be clever, and they look bad doing it. Musically, the song is too hook driven for its own good. The main intention here is not to do anything musically spectacular, but to have the listener sing along before the song ends. For "Soak Up the Sun" to be the "preview" song of the first Sheryl Crow CD in nearly four years, Interscope Records really picked a song that's nothing more than pedestrian. As for "Red, Red Wine," Ub40 made the song famous to a new generation of music listeners when they released the song in 1983. You can find the Ub40 version of "Red, Red Wine" on their 1983 "Labour of Love" album. However, Neil Diamond originally wrote and performed "Red, Red Wine," placing that song on his 1967 "Just For You" album. Richard IP: Logged |

The rest of Sheryl's new album isn't that bad. I liked "Soak Up the Sun" the second I heard it (had a Beach Boys/Eagles vibe going for me) Andrew Poe IP: Logged |

Okay, so I know all Celine Dion songs bite, but the new one, it is horrible, I do not even know the name, it is just purely crud... I can not even understand how it is called a song, is it not just like a bunch of cliches and really horrible images all strung together? "And the rain came down and washed away my tears" "The whole world thought I had it all..." As one of the few Canadians around these parts, I must once again apoligize for that crap... IP: Logged |

I so agree about "Soak Up the Sun"!!!! I really liked Sheryl Crow's last two discs, especially "The Globe Sessions." We have a DVD concert - and particularly since "All I Wanna Do" (which I disliked, and I read that Sheryl doesn't like it much either) - I thought "wow!! Finally a legit female singer/songwriter with a great deal of talent who wants to write 'balsy' and good music...." When I heard that "Soak it up" song I was so disappointed!! And when I saw her perform it live on VH1 - I agree Jen!! She appeared SO phony - as though she were just going through the motions to sell the record... I still believe in her ability to write good stuff and steer clear of empty "pop fluff" - hopefully she will redeem herself next time. Jenn, I agree with you....I too feel the need to apologize on Canada's behalf for everything Celine. Duncanbox....how awful is Creed? Every single song sounds the same and if I see the lead singer (Scott Stapp?) strike one more Christ-like pose in a music video I will lose my mind. Enrique....where to begin? The thing that makes me sad about annoying music is that all songs considered annoying by us, for example, are all by really famous, really successful, marginally talented people. In thier place could be the real talents of the music industry who don't get any recognition or opportunity. I am sure we all have lists of bands or artists those could be. But it will alweays be like this so we make the best of it. Even with the annoying songs, I can always understand the appeal, and to each thier own. But you would never find one of the aforementioned songs on my hard drive or CD collection. IP: Logged |

Creed sucks. I heard something by Bryan Adams, he is terrible. Macy Gray is the worst singer that I have ever heard. Carly IP: Logged |

What is this? Creed bashing! I think Creed is a pretty cool band. Try listening to their other songs, rather than bashing them on just the ones you've heard on the radio. I thought their past two albums were really good, My Own Prison and Human Clay. The new album, Weathered, has some really good tracks on it too, i.e. One Last Breath and Hide. IP: Logged |

Anything by these people is annoying: Aaron Carter Lil bow wow back street boys Nsync Five Joey Macintire and You guys are gonna bleed when I say this one....HANSON..... Speaking of hanson, don't you think the new capital punishment should be listening to MMMBOP? Wait a minute, that's cruel and unsual punishment to say the least. Man, gotta come up with something more sane... IP: Logged |

Trust me, Crooner, I've listened to Creed. Don't mean to dis you or anything, but I had to play drums on "My Sacrifice" for a school play (this was NOT my choice at all) and I did not enjoy it. I cannot hear a Creed song all the way through. Sybil P.S. That new Enrique song gets on my last nerve. IP: Logged |

more, more! Ok, you know that song that goes "As I lay me, down to sleep, yes, I pray, that you will hold me dear" and in the background there is singers saying something that sounds like "pull my taco"? Well, that is a damn annoying song and I hate it. I heard it again today and I hate it!! I was not sad I had not heard it in a while. Another song is um...can't think of it now. Nevermind.... -stephanie IP: Logged |

(hoping not to offend anyone severely) BUT it has to be said that Patti Loveless totally sucks bigtime. I hate trite lyrics such as "Timber...I'm falling in love" and "I can't get no satisfaction, and my tractor don't get no traction". I know she didn't write those songs, but she should be slapped nonetheless for crooning them out. HIDEOUS! To me, lyrics are as equally powerful. So many times I have bought a track that I really like, only to read the words and I end up feeling totally identified in some small way. It freaks me out cuz it makes me wonder about the powers of the unconscious mind! (LOL the Truth is In there!) Anyone else "get" me? Or am I talking utter bollocks? BTW, what is average age of the board so I know to mind me p's and q's. Normally, I am not offensive, but the name is msd sooooo, sometimes it kinda sneaks out cuz I am a reactionary female after all ![]() IP: Logged |

"Pull my taco!!" Hah! That's Sophie B. Hawkins at work. Frankly, the Edie Brickell song where she asks you to choke her in the shallow water before she gets too deep really makes me want to do just that in order to SHUT HER UP!!! God, that's a damn annoying song. I was a freshman in college when that song came out (14 years ago). It's practically an oldie now! Bronwen IP: Logged |

I hate that shove me into shallow water song. I hate that song "All I Wanna Do is Have Some Fun," where she talks about a guy lighting every match in a pack just to watch them burn. There really is no point to that song. Anything by Nathalie Merchant, Lenny Kravtiz, and Macy Gray is so annoying I can't stand to listen to it. Carly IP: Logged |

Hey, Crooner and Stephanie, I like Creed, too! I can, however, understand where someone would be annoyed with them after listening to Higher or My Sacrifice for the 100th time on the radio. Check out the guitar solo on Stand Here With Me from Weathered; I love that! Anyway, some of the good stuff is not on the radio... Tammy IP: Logged |

OK, I know I haven't posted in a long time, but now I'm really irked and I HAVE to say something. NOBODY NNNNNOOOOOOOOOBBBBBBBBOOODDDDDDDYYYYYYYY disses Bryan Adams and gets away with it. Do you hear me people? He is THE single most awesome thing on the face of this earth. I'm totally obsessed. We're talking all 13 CDs, tons of CD and cassette singles, a poster, photograph, pin, a bunch of records i've gotten off ebay. Let's just sum it up with this.....leave Bryan out of the annoying songs category dudes....or you're gonna have to fight me....hehe.... ![]() Kellye IP: Logged |

“I try to smoke some crack and I choke, try to find some coke and I stumble, thou I try to hide it, it’s true I’m a junky when you’re not here” “With mas-tur-bation” For those of you who could not tell those are my own special words to Macy Gray and Creed (with Arm’s wide Open) songs, however I do have to say I enjoy Creed, I really do and Scott Stapp, I would do him…And I love Edie Brickell…Okay so I am thinking my taste is the opposite of everyone else’s For those I do not like, I think it goes without saying, I dislike P-Diddy and that kinda crud…I think J-Lo, is a semi-bad actress, but a special horrible brand of singer; that song that sounds like a school yard chant in uniquely bad. Sheryl Crow is passe… I could go on, but I will save ya'll IP: Logged |

and apparently Macy Gray thinks she's all that PLUS a bag of chips n' gravy. Total diva behaviour, someone should clue her in. To me, that is so off-putting. Suddenly, it isn't about the music anymore, and I won't support her just cuz of her "I'm Fabulous" attitude. It is why I can't stand snobby Williams either... IP: Logged |

Creed is ok. I just mean ok. Their first album was good. The 2nd --not so much. I the 3rd sounds downright awful. I think Jesus is covering his ears at this point. Celiene Dion - I blame Cananada (i did that on purpose) The chick who sings "Cant get you outta my head" Arg! Makes me dizzy. I think i posted a topic about that horror a long time ago. Sheryl crow. This new song was a huge surprise. I considered her a great musician. I understand that she has to make the crap songs to sell the record but even those were never this bad. What the hell kinda lip gloss is she wearing in the video? Its ultraviolent. Red Red Wine is one of the greatest drinking songs ever. Its great bc its refrain you can sing at a senseless bravaro and no one really comes after "Red Red Wine / Stay close to me." Atleast I never figured out what he was saying. Im just ribbin' ya Kellye. I admit it. I love Bryan too. IP: Logged |

I actually like Eminem. Well, I like him as a person. He seems to be very intelligent, and I like that his songs are actually about something. I only heard a couple of his songs, and I was surprised at how smartly written they were. Carly IP: Logged |

I just can't get you outta myyyy headddd....that's Kylie! I can't say that I hate her, otherwise I will be accused of hating her solely cuz her butt is so durned cute and popular!! (must add squats to my list of have-to-do's!) Celine Dion is well hated over here, she was booed more than once and people have left concerts b/f cuz she is apparently such a DIVAaaaaaH. I have never seen her myself (and wouldn't) but really, it is kind of neat that she has been number one in two different languages...that is kind of Gloria Estafanish or finnnishh??? Not that I am a celine fan...GOB, am I defending her????? :embarrassed: IP: Logged |

Kylie, hehehe, does anyone remember doing the Locomotion with her? Okay, I actually do not like her music and I do not understand, but does she figure she was popular with the whole Locomotion thing in the 80s(?) that she should still like do her make-up and clothing in the same horrible fashion...I mean I am not fond on the calm digger, capri pants thing (be warned no matter how thin your legs are, they look huge in those babies, it is a suitable length of few people) but Kylie takes to another level those peddle pusher pants... And okay what about her barely there "Can't get you out of my head outfit"...Okay she might have a good body, but her face is not attractive...Best thing she ever did was Moulin Rouge though, and it is a small part... I went to the Lillith Fair over here a couple of years ago, great entertainment; Sarah M, Beth O, Desiree, Sinead, Alison Moyet (STUNNING) ummm Lisa Loeb, not so stunning. For the grand finale, all the ladies performed together, and who shows up?The denim clad clamdigger spesh herself, gyrating in a suspicious loco motion. All I could think is, "what are you doing here?!!" Kylie is akin to the mosquito that you can hear buzzing everywhere...you just know in your heart that if you were looking at her directly; you would just want to squash her! IP: Logged |
