I'm so excited for the up coming summer concert season! I'm already seeing a couple of groups/artists, and I want to see more!! While Duncan isn't touring :^( we have other groups to fill the void... Here's who I'm seeing
-Garbage (twice! Oh! So excited!!!! Shirley is my style idol!)
-Doves (a really great UK group. Seriously, check them out!!)
-Exit (an all-girl U2 cover band. I know, it's cheesy that I'm excited, but I am. They're great)
-Area2!!! Holy Crap! This is David Bowie, Busta Rhymes, and Moby! I'm SOOOOO excited!! Anyone else going to this one???

Here's people I don't have tickets to yet, but I really want to go see:
-Beth Orton
-INXS (the newly reformed)
-the Cure (dear lord, they're only doing European dates right now. Pleasepleaseplease come to the US!!!)

Well, that's it! Also, incase anyone is interested, David Sylvian (sp?) is performing at the Wiltern in LA on May 14 (my birthday! Yah!). That name SHOULD sound familiar... The song "Orpheus" (ah, such a wonderful song) that Duncan covered was originally his. Hmm, wonder if he'll be at that show!! >wink, wink, nudge, nudge<

everywhere lies within everyone,
Caitlin

I'm seeing some good shows too.

- Pop Disaster Tour: Blink 182, Green Day, and Saves the Day. I'm not huge fans of any of these bands, but I've heard that Green Day puts on an unforgettable show, and I kind of dig Saves the Day.
- Jimmy Eat World!!!!! Woo hoo! I saw them last year and it was pure rock. My favorite band, my favorite venue, my best friends are coming with me, and they'll be filming for a Jimmy Eat World live DVD at the show.
- HFStival. HFS is one of the big rock stations here in DC and they have a big festival every year. It's mostly crappy bands (POD, Papa Roach, Eminem (what the hell is he doing at a rock festival anyway?), Hoobastank...) and it's really expensive but I'm going anyway because there are a few really good bands that will be there (Dashboard Confessional, Phantom Planet, The Strokes, The Vines, Cactus Patch, Our Lady Peace, BRMC).

Plus I'm gonna try really hard to go see The Promise Ring next week (it's on a Tuesday night, the day before I have to take my AP government test... do I have the balls to go?)

I really really really wanna see John Mayer, but he's not comin here til July. And Pete Yorn is here the end of this month so I'm lookin forward to that!
I say go see The Promise Ring Ericka!
Oh, and aren't you a female? I didn't know females had balls. Don't you mean ovaries? LoL hahaha

Hi there, Erika. Guess what? I got to see Green Day/Blink 182 FO FREE on Sat. A friend of mine had extra tickets. We were running late and missed Jimmy Eats World though. I'm really not familiar with their music, but I like that "In the Middle" song. Mainly went to see Green Day, and it was pretty darn good I saw B.R.M.C. too not to long ago at the Engine Room, saw Frank Black too. Next show will probably be Berlin next week -anyone remember them? Also thinking about checking out the Warp Tour for one band...Quarashi. I will see The Breeders for the 2nd time this year in August

tsk tsk tsk. erika, i am so disappointed in you. GET UP KIDS? i'm just playing with ya. whatever floats your boat. the get up kids only have two and a half good songs though.

Cyndi, you missed the best band at pop disaster. JEW is great. i wish they were playing pop disaster here, but by the time they get to dc, they will be replaced by saves the day. i'm really happy to finally see them get the cred they deserve. i'm not so crazy about some of their newer stuff. i don't hate it or even dislike it, but i think their previous album was better. you should check it out. it's called "clarity." it's some of the most beautiful rock i have ever heard. they are fantastic live as well.

Much peace.

I didn't end up going to Pop Disaster. Timing was awful. I had a lot to do, and JEW was the night before so I didn't need to be out that late 2 weeknights in a row.

I can honestly say that the night of the JEW concert was one of the best of my life. They played amazing, but based on the last time I saw them, I couldn't expect anything else. But your favorite band at your favorite club with 2 great friends is a really easy way to have the best night of your life.

MsDMeanor, Beth Orton was amazing. She had a six piece band with her and they were incredible. Beth herslef was in great spirits and sounded great. She played stuff from all her albums, including some new songs which are very very good. We hung out a bit after the show but we didn't see her, or else I would have tried to say HI to her. I hope she comes back again after her album comes out. Everyone you must go see Beth Orton if you can. You'll love it. Definitely one of my top 5 concerts ever.

PS- I would like to take this opportunity to thank the makers of Advil. If it weren't for you I would not have been able to go. Long live Advil Cold & Sinus.

Hi all! Well! I went to a buttload of concerts this week! But, I wanted to tell everyone about one of the opening acts I saw, Elbow. They opened up for the Doves and they were AMAZING!!! I STRONGLY recommend them to Duncan fans everywhere! Download their song "Red" & you'll see what I mean! But! Buy the album & support them if you like the tune! Okay!! They Doves were really good too, put on a super good show and the place they played was packed. Also! I saw Garbage last week & their opening act was really good too! Someone you all might've heard of: Abandoned Pools. I'm going to go see a headlining gig of their's later this month in LA; if anyone wants to go check 'em out with me, send a mail my way!! Okay! Babbled enough...

everywhere lies within everyone,
Caitlin

P.S. In all the hub-bub of Garbage concerts, I missed Beth Orton :^( I'm bummed.

I'm going to see Guided by Voices tomorrow night. Quite honestly, i don't know much about them, but a really good friend of mine has been asking me to check them out. It's his favorite band. I love going to live shows, so I'm sure it'll be a great experience

I can't wait to see Area:2 this summer. What a great combination is Moby, Busta Rhymes, and David Bowie. My childhood hero was David Bowie in Labyrinth, I watched my VHS until it broke (or probably my parents broke it). Anyway, it should be an amazing show.
On a separate note, I saw the Cranberries a few weekends ago and they were awesome!!!!! Check em out if they stop in your town on tour, they played tons of their old stuff and it was one of the best shows I've seen (besides Duncan of course)
Rock on!
Boo

I'm considering going to see Me'shell Ndegeocello Thursday Eve. Man, I've been wanting to see her for years.
Thanks,

George - Yes! My name sure is in reference to U2's song "So Cruel." It goes, "Her skin is pale like Gods Only Dove/Screams like an angel for your love." That's me! I'm pale & I scream a lot!!! Well... I love that song... I was surprised from that post about the favourite song/VH1 list game thing that there were so many songs from U2 on everyone's lists! Yah! That's exciting! They're a great band & very different from Duncan. U2 is my band & Duncan is my man :^)

Caitlin

Me'shell Ndegeocello was very hip and cool. Go and see her if you can. As for Beth, well she was pretty good, but most songs just sound the same. (I still like her style and sound) PS. Very cute accent!!!!!!
