Let's talk about a CD that came out this year. I only heard part of it today and thought I was going to die.

It was that good, Great.

"Reptile," by Eric Clapton.
His guitar playing was so unbelieveably gorgeous, I would die to play like that.

Sincerely.

Reptile
Eric Clapton

“Where I come from, the word “reptile” is a term of endearment,” writes Eric Clapton in the liner notes that accompany his new solo album, Reptile. “It is used sparingly and with the greatest respect…it’s a sign of recognition,” Clapton continues, dedicating this record to the various “reptiles” in his life who influenced him as an artist.

On the heels of his critically acclaimed, Grammy nominated collaboration with BB King, Eric Clapton has returned with a excellent collection of (mostly) soft-rocking tunes that dip in to the blues, R&B; and singer-songwriter styled songs, the result of which should please long-time Clapton fans.

On Reptile, Clapton is in terrific voice and his signature guitar sound continues to stand foreground. Clapton’s band includes stalwart studio players Steve Gadd on drums, Nathan East on bass, Billy Preston, Joe Sample, and Paul Carrack on keyboards. In addition, The Impressions handle background vocals.

There are a handful of wonderful original tunes on the album including the hard rocking first single, “Superman Inside,” and “Believe In Life,” a tune that picks up where his classic “Wonderful Tonight” leaves off. Other highlights are his covers of Stevie Wonder’s “I Ain’t Gonna Stand For It,” J.J. Cale’s “Travelin’ Light,” and Ray Charles’ 1955 R&B; hit, “Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight.”

I just love this song. I'm not sure of the name, but it's so soulful and lovely. If the rest of the cd is anything like it, man is it a winner. I think it's called Hotel Gussengolf.?????

Lead singer sounds like Alona Davis, but this is a band. ???

Well I finally bought the CD. It's called Simply.......or Simple by Zero 7. I think their out of the UK and it's their first CD. It's excellent. Lucky for me, I heard it playing at my local Border's Bookstore and got it.

It's very low key to say the least, but very relaxing and cool, especially my favorite song of course, "Destiny." Check it out. Borders has it.

Any other cool stuff out there????????

hmmmm, lets see good songs and new music, ehh? hehehehe, i'm gettin canadian! Anyway, I like the new Goo Goo Dolls song "Here is Gone" but I noticed something. Goo Goo Dolls and a few other groups have a tendency of using lines similar to this one, both in terms of words and sound. which just so happens to be the first line in "Here is Gone". It goes like this "You and I got something, and it's all and then it's nothing to me." The one I found similar to it by Matchbox 20. I think it's from the song called "3 AM" It goes like this "She's got at little bit of somethin', least that's better than nothing." I don't know. If you guys know of lines like that from other songs, post em, that be interesting to see how many sound like that.
