Just thought I'd relay my concert experience with yall. Last night I went to an Edwin McCain concert with Howie Day opening at the TLA in Philly. Lemme just say the Howie rocked soooo incredibly hard. I even got my Dad rocking to him. Howie did a 45 minutes set and then we waited another 25 minutes for Edwin to come on. I stayed for about three songs becuase I just couldn't get into him after having Howie blow me away.(he reminded me of a poor man's DMB). So I walked outside to leave and who do I see but Howie Day right outside the theater! So I went up to him and asked him to sign a piece of paper I had grabbed. He signed it "Tara, (picture of peace sign) Howie Day." He also said he liked my shirt of the Brittish flag because he was originally from there and started to do a little accent (wasnt sure if he was kidding or not). Anywho, I told him how much he wrocked and left. I think he told someone else that his new cd should be coming out next year sometime. Ah, he was so very down to earth. Whooo!

How was Edwin McCain? I saw the music choice concert and liked him. That concert was McCain, David Garza, and Duncan

Like I said earlier, I only stayed for about 3 of McCain's songs because he just couldn't compare to Howie Day's performance. McCain did have a full band with a pretty cool sax player though. Kinda reminded me of DMB without the personality. But hey, maybe it's just me...By the by, go buy Howie Day's "Australia" now!

Hey Gray,
It's too bad you didn't get to hear too much of Edwin, because like Duncan, not all of his songs are "commercial" radio friendly so he doesn't get much airplay either. The first song he probably played was "Far from over" which is ok but not kickass like "Get out of this Town" or "Sun will rise" and I heard he does a great version of "Maggie Mae" which I'm hoping to hear this Thursday.
He's playing at a cool bar right on the Homassasa River Thursday with Pete Reilly AND
Howie Day, so I'll get to check Howie out too. And Edwin IS a pretty funny guy by the way, he usually tells road stories between some of his songs.

Since I'm a Edwin junkie, his shows are always great but I have to say Howie Day was pretty cool, I couldn't figure out what was going on though, he spoke with a british accent but said he was from Maine?

I'm gonna look for more info about his cd but any guy who could make up a funny song on the spot about "Don't hurt the Manatees" is pretty cool.

Ya just gotta love those singer/songwriters!

Hey jealousy... hey jealousy...

I love Edwin McCain. Has he grown his hair back out yet??? He had such beautiful hair, it was such a controversy when he decided no the spur of the moment to just whack it all off...

Howie Day is such a cutie!! I've seen him twice this year and met him both times. The first time I saw him, I took an entire roll of pictures which was nice. The one of him and I was cool... he's laughing so hard in it because I hugged him for the shot and he was embarrassed because he had "stage sweat"

He's actually from Aulstralia... from what I remember. Did he by chance play any covers when he opened?
The last time I saw him, I screamed out for him to play a Jeff Buckley song and he did-- Lover, You Should've Come Over. I thought he did the song justice. Plus, it was just so nice to hear one of Jeff's songs live! (Howie's a huge fan himself)

OK, enough of my rambling... I'm glad you had fun at the show

Rock on!
Maria

Galore4,

Nah, he didn't do any covers. Have you heard his "All Along the watchtower" cover? It's very rad. Anywho, I'm going to see him on the 27th at the TLA in Philly. Ah, this time it is a full show!

He seems to always sell out his shows. He's becoming quite the *popular* Howie Day.

hmm...who is Howie Day? Don't know him...Hey Gray, I was just thinking (I know, what a shock, right?) about your name (screenname that is) and finally figured out what it reminded me of this David Gray song: Clean Pair of Eyes, not Gray Pair of Eyes, but that's what I think of when I see your name. hehe.

Yeah- those are some of my favoire songs. I atually don't have the album, just a sampler I got for free last summer from a friend.

I suppose buying the album would be a good idea. Do you remember how much it was?

Much thanks,
...galore4...

Galore4,
I ordered mine through his website total with shipping was $17.50 After I ordered it, the following message was posted on Edwin's site and I did see the info on Howie's site about reps. So you can email
Brian if you want more info.

I'm a Howie Day Marketing rep and they actually mailed a bunch of CDs to me. The deal is, I sell them for $10 to whomever wants them and then I send the money back to his merchandising company. He's just starting to get big and this is a way to get his name "out there." So if anyone wants a $10 "Australia" CD, his first and only CD so far, it's pretty awesome. In addition, if you want more of his stuff, I have about 5 or 6 live shows of his on CDR, all Soundboard feeds. So when you send your $10 and want to send one or two blank CDs, I'll hook you up with a couple of shows for free. I ask that you just throw in a few stamps for postage. If you're interested, email me at brianjcarlson@hotmail.com

Sweetsnail,

First off, Howie Day is one of the best singer/songwriters out there (like Mr. Duncan Sheik, of course). Ya really have to check out his live stuff to truly see his awesome-ness.

Secondly, my screen name, A Gray Pair Of Eyes, is a play on the David Gray song. That's where I got it. Didn't think anyone would notice! :-)

So I started college this week, I was walking around campus and they had a free concert thing and blah blah blah and it is Howie Day! I was like "ok I KNOW that name from the m/b!" So while I'm gettin the info my friends decide that they don't want to wait on me, next thing I know they are gone, but yea, that's not the point. The point is, is that I really wanna go tonight and I'm really excited!
