i never saw a moor
i never saw the sea
Yet, know i how the heather looks
and what a wave must be
i never spoke with god

How about,

Sitting here thinking, what to think next?
Will it me meaningful? Let's hope so.

or

Sitting here dreaming, what to think next.
The answers come quickly, when I am at rest.

Yeah.

The Radiant Buddha said:

Regard this fleeting world like this:
Like stars fading and vanishing at dawn,
like bubbles on a fast moving stream,
like morning dewdrops evaporating on blades
of grass,
like a candle flickering in a strong wind,
echos, mirages, and phantoms, hallucinations,
and like a dream.

Strike the bell, and we listen.
Light the candle and we're shown.
The Gods themselves throwing incense,
As all the world begins to glow...

Such a flame, such a mirror,
In the heart of everyone.

Such a flame, such a mirror,
In the heart of everyone...

...... SS
Thank you.

SGI President Ikeda's Daily Encouragement for August 13

An important thing is that you concentrate on developing yourself. Whatever others may say or do, those who have established their own solid sense of identity will triumph in the end.
The great Japanese author Eiji Yoshikawa (1892-1962) wrote in his novel Miyamoto Musashi [an account of the seventeenth-century master swordsman of the same name]: "Rather than worrying about your future, thinking ‘Perhaps I should become this or perhaps I should become that,’ first be still and build a self that is as solid and unmoving as Mount Fuji."

Do not judge someone by the way they look.
Be kind to others and have a good heart.

It will come back to you tenfold.

Have a beautiful day everyone.

With respect and in response to Michele's August 13 post quoting Japenese author Eiji Yoshikawa, I was reading my Bible this morning. Jesus said the same thing 1800 years or so earlier. I'm not saying "buddhist thinking is irrelevant based on the testimony of Jesus Christ." People know me better than that. All spiritual thoughts are meaningful and the light shines where invited. But Jesus said, in several different accounts but I was reading this one:
Matthew 6:25 -27. "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body - what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than
clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worring can add a single hour to his life?"
Teaching that trusting God and placing faith will build character, personal strength, and a fruitfull life...
Vs33-35 - "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
Today I was strengthened by knowing that with strong faith and dedication, God is taking care of what is overwhelming to me alone. No single individual is alone spiritually . You just need eyes to see and ears to hear. With both senses, listen to the stillness. See with your eyes what is deeper than what's apparent on the surface. In agreement with Michele, look at the level of the heart - in others and within yourself. Wisdom from spirit is the greatest teacher.
Not selling Christianity here. My views are open. I just feel especially blessed and strengthened by my faith this morning.
Shari

Everyday I learn something new.

Unfortunately, not all days are always as positive as I'd like.

Sometime's it's downright depressing. (As the past couple of days)

These days are few though and not really worth my time.

In these trying times, we must stay strong and realize only to see the clear light in our hearts.

For it is this light which is the truth, and that which will bring us to true meaning.

Be strong as the tree or the mountain so very high. There resides the beauty and inner peace of our existence.

I love quotes! Some of mine aren't spiritual. There just nice.

I want to be what I was when I wanted to be what I am now.
-Ray Prince

It is only with gratitude that life becames rich.
-Diettrich Bonhoffer

Bible verse of the day:
James 1:2-4
-Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when you faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be stong in character and ready for anything.

Every one of these quotes are GREAT! "Sometimes I get the feeling God has pets and I'm not one of them." It's written by Hugh Prather! I think it's awesome! O.k. here is one more. "The fact is, nothing will go right today. And if it does,it will only scare you. We can't control even the smallest event. However, we do choose what we experience. We decide to be awake to the stillness and peace of Love or to know merely the chaos of constant analysis and continual reinterpretation."

Walk slow, for you may miss the rhythm of life.

Look far, beyond what your eyes can see.

Feel in your heart, everything. Good and bad.

Do not think too long, you may miss the thought.

Catch each glistening love within your grasp.

Embrace kindness and peace within all.

Be still, let your soul grow within this beauty.

THE WINDOW

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end.
They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had
been on vacation.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one-hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats.
Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine
view of the city skyline could be seen in the
distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.
Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it. In his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed
it with descriptive words. Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window,
who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital
attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was
comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.
He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.
It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled
his deceased roommate who had described such
wonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.
She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

Epilogue: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.
Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.
If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

"Unhappiness comes to each of us because we think ourselves at the center of the world, because we have the miserable conviction that we alone suffer to the point of unbearable intensity. Unhappiness is always to feel oneself imprisoned in one's own skin, in own's own brain"

It is important to have much soul and spirit inside of you.

I can feel my spirit so and it is the most beautiful feeling. You must only look within.

Peace.

Hey guys... Okay this is from the book I'm reading right now....

"The spirit that loves nature, loves mankind, and pursues the infinite beauties of the earth and the cosmos to their fundamental source is inspired by poetic feelings, enlightened by the wisdom of science, moved by the wisdom of philosophy, and overpowered by the urge toward religious faith"

Take a straight and stronger course
to the corner of your life
Make the white queen run so fast,
she hasn't got time to make you a wife.

Move me on to any black square
Use me anytime you want to,
Just remember that the goal as far as all
is to capture...all we won.

Dont surround yourself with yourself,
move on back to squares.
Send that instant karma to me,
Initial it...with loving care.

~~~~~~~YES~~~~~~~~~
Come to think of it Shari, I think it's one of their other albums. Like 90421 or whatever the number is. I'll have to look it up, but one of my most favorite songs by them is, "Turn of the Century." It's so very beautiful. I like all their older stuff and saw them perform a number of times years ago.
Who can ever forget "Close To The Edge."
Listen to the quietness of your hearts.
Listen to the quietness of the outside world.
Slow down today, for tomorrow. Nobleness comes from the Bravery of our everyday tasks and good deeds towards others. It is the most simple of deeds we do for eachother, to show you care.
