I have problems with this name we have given ourselves. Donut. That isnt sexy at all!! What do you think of when you think of a doughnut? A fat policeman eating a dozen of them. Heartattacks. So now i say we wipe the slate clean. I think we need a new name. Something clever and creative somehow linked to Duncan that invokes laughter. Any ideas? IP: Logged |

I think donut is an accurate description of me. *lol* But I don't think it's the best thing to announce yourself as a donut, like it's part of some elite clan. *lol* There's not really many things you can really call yourselves though. Gems? I never thought of myself as being a gem to anyone. I don't consider myself important enough to be any kind of precious thing in Duncan's life... ha! Springroz, I have struggled with this problem myself but have managed to just have fun with it. I live in the Dunkin Donuts capital of the world, seriously, Rhode Island, has a 150 plus , the most any where. Can't think of any other clever names right now. best wishes, IP: Logged |

The dunking sheep story is mine. Ill tell u why i misconstrued his name. i found out later that my dad was listenoing to npr and they usually do very good snippets of any upandcoming artist. this is way back with the debut was first released. dad was listening to npr and i think he was halfasleep driving home from work. and their voices...it is so sootheing...so calming. all the consanants ran together i guess. It wasnt that crazy. Duncan Sheik...Dunking Sheep. im lying. it was nuts. im just as nuts as my father. how about something to do with a specific duncan song? what about Mellowed? How about Drifters? Duncan's Drifters? Duncan's hands? (from little hands) im all out of ideas. i think we are forging ahead, breaking new ground. To hell with tradition! A new name will soon be upon us!! IP: Logged |

When I lived in Portland, OR and Duncan was coming to town to open for Shawn Colvin in 1997, I was listening to a radio interview. The DJ asked Duncan "I hear that they call you Donut. Why the heck is that?" Duncan answered "Well, it has to do with the name "Duncan" and the place "Dunkin Donuts." They call me 'Duncan donut.'" I really don't see the problem with calling ourselves "donuts." It rolls right off the tongue, and it is original. Besides, Dunkin Donuts makes some of the best donuts in the world! I also like the title of "Sheik-freak". Whoever came up with that had a stroke of genius!! This topic has to be one of the weirdest ones ever started! Just to share my opinion I really don't have a problem with the whole donut issue.It's cute,it's a play on words and inevitably when I mention his name someone always says "the only Duncan I know is Dunkin Donuts".But rather than refer to myself as a donut when speaking to other people and let them look at me like I'm an alien, I prefer to say that I am a fan of Duncan Sheik's music.Just sounds a bit more dignified. Hey guys, why can't we just keep Donuts? I think it's cute....I don't think my opinion matters too much though If you feel like we must change though...I like the Duncan's Drifters.
