Do we have any Toriphiles in the bunch here other than me? I was just wondering how many people are planning on attending the infamous Meet & Greets on this tour, and how many of you are planning on attending the shows. Has anyone heard how she's going to be juggling a one-year-old and a world tour?? I got to "greet" Tori in October of 99, but not really "meet" her, as my airhead friend was with me and kept trying to get me to help her reload our camera (DUH!) and Tori laughed and walked off after waiting for the airhead to fork over CDs for her to sign... ok, now that that is out of the way ...gabby, I've met Tori twice now...and even did some art for the tourbook for the '97 tour (the brown tourbook)...even have a few left... I've liked Tori since the first single, but I will admit, I haven't gotten into the last few cds as much as the first two, which I really love..I feel she goes out of her way to be obscure lyrically...so I treat the cds like they are Cocteau Twins albums...gorgeous voice and music...unintelligible lyrics (in tori's case, unfathomable...or at least for this doofus!). Check my Tori page on my site (shameless plug number 373) http://www.kenmeyerjr.com/likes/tori.html bya! IP: Logged |

*hehe* When I was in 8th grade I had just moved from Cali to Utah and I was NOT a happy camper, and to make things worse, my sister had an obsession with Eric Clapton (oops, the tape disappeared, I don't know HOW it got recorded over! *lol*) and Tori. I thought Tori an annoying bore. Her music was really out there. At the time my sister had the God single, and I would sing along in my VERY worst impression and my sister hated it so much that she got rid of it... Now I'm the Toriphile and my sister is asking me to borrow my CDs all the time. *lol* I think that Venus was a much better album live than on the CD, personally. I have never seen a performance like that in my life! *lol* IP: Logged |

I am with Ken here, I have not gotten much into the newer stuff, "Little Earthquakes" is my favorite. This may sound very strange, I have no clue why I bought my first Tori CD, it was one of those things, I just picked up, I can not recall ever hearing her music before buying it, the first for me was "Little Earthquakes", and I loved it so much I rushed out to pick up "Under…" and "Boys…" I have "From the Choirgirl Hotel" and listen to it if I am in the right mood. And honestly have never even listened to all of "To Venus and Back", but have it. I think I actually own way too many CD's I rarely listen to, but that is another topic. IP: Logged |

Right on people! I'm surprised that there are Tori fans here. Nice to see it though. I've been a fan since the first single as well (has it already been ten years?) and I continue to dig her music. I agree that her work has changed and taken on a lot of different directions but that is the way an artist grows - through experimentation. Personally, 'Boys For Pele' is a masterpiece that is just not recognized. I for one plan to try to meet her during the "Meet & Greets" this tour. I've met her before and she was very approachable, just like Duncan. I'm so glad she's going back to touring with just the piano in small venues. It'll really showcase her piano playing and vocals. Wait till you guys here her new album in September. I think it'll blow you away. Hey kenmyerjr: The 1997 tour was part of the "Boys For Pele" tour correct? I wish I had purchased the tourbook for that show. Unfortunately it sold out by the time I got to the front of the merchandise table. Motumbo IP: Logged |

motumbo...you know, I think it was that tour, because we illustrated separate songs, and I did the Doughnut song, if I remember correctly...I have a few of those left, if you want one, don't know what I would charge tho... IP: Logged |

I play the piano, so believe it or not, the serious Christian girl likes Tori, too. LOL. There are some of her songs, I just can't listen to. The words are just too against what I believe in. But, the piano is absolutely amazing. I don't mostly understand what her lyrics mean.... ....but I think she's a great freaky songwriter. She's different. I'll give her that. But we need some different people out there. The music on Under The Pink is probably my favorite, but Spark is most definitely a great song. Cept for the Judas part. LOL.Kellye IP: Logged |

oops, sorry, moo (coudn't resist)and, was it phineas? I think I may have 4 or 5 of those programs left, and I really only need the one (THAT SHE SIGNED, BHAW HA HA)..I do have the original art still, but it is a little different than what is printed...see that page on my omnipresent website ( http://www.kenmeyerjr.com/misc/dial.html )...which are you interested in...as far as the programs, do you think I'd be gouging if I asked for 20 bucks each? You be the judge. Feel free to talk about it here or in email... [This message has been edited by kenmeyerjr (edited July 03, 2001).] IP: Logged |

why, I live in cosmopolitan Vista, where dogs bark and rednecks look for the source for a hot date....wow, did I just say that? It's a bit north of San Diego...and somewhat rural. But, I have lived all over the place, the Phillipines, Utah, Nevada, Nebraska, New Mexico (almost all the 'n's'), Georgia, Arizona, California now, uhhhh, Texas....that may be it... IP: Logged |

michelle.. well, tho I never thought I would say it, I think Utah is the best out of those, judging from my limited viewpoint. Great landscape, lots of arts stuff (this is in Salt Lake City), healthy people. IP: Logged |

Utah has some beautiful landscape, but Salt Lake is turning into an overcrowded smog hole. There are a bunch of beautification projects going on, which includes trees and lamps and art stuff, but that doesn't hide the fact that we have a growing population of homeless people (even though there are shelters) and drug user numbers rises every day... wow, gabbi, didn't know SLC was changing so much...on a related topic, ever see SLC punk the movie? Great if you've lived there (and I was there when punk was big..in fact, I'm convinced I knew the guy the main character must be based on, who was in a group called the Massacre Guys, and later in a group that became sort of popular called All. Actually, I haven't seen it. I think I'm the only person in SLC who hasn't seen it... The maker of the movie has a few others out now that people are pretty wild about, too. Who knows! ![]() I hate this city. IP: Logged |

hahhah, gabbi, I hated it when I was there too....too many mormons (tho the girls were cute...tho sort of inaccessible)..but I find I kind of miss it now. The Cosmic Aeroplane bookstore....and a friend of mine who I was fellow dj's with at KRCL (Jon Bray) started In Your Face Cinema...is that still there? IP: Logged |
