Hi everyone,
Sorry it's taking a while to answer your questions but I'm trying to find a way to efficiently relay whatever pertinent information I have.
I have a quick question however. Someone gave me some CD cover mockups in Alexandria, VA at the red cross concert and they were very, very excellent. Who are you? Whoever you are should post in reply to this topic (but you have to describe them so I know it's really you!).
Peace,
Duncan

DUNCAN!
Hey! How are you? Thank you again for being so kind at the Belly Up and the Coach House! I wrote a review/summary of the two evenings and sent them to webmaster@duncansheik.com, but I wanted to make sure with you, if you approved of putting some of the info that I wrote about it in the article. Let me know Please come back! There's now a group of about 5 of us who all planned to meet up at the next concert you do down here! We love you! I noticed you still had my necklace on for the Today Show performance. I'm glad you liked it! Please E-Mail me sometime! aallen@nctimes.net Also, what's the status of Spring Awakenings? Are you coming to the La Jolla Playhouse? If not, I really, really want to, and will come to NYC to see it. I want to see TriBeCa too! What kind of guitar is your silver one? I love it. You inspired me to get a guitar (acoustic). I can't put it down! Thanks for the inspiration! I'm also really into Buddhism now. Thank you. Any (Buddhist) book recommendations?
Peace
Jennie
ps What kind of coffee do you like? I love caramel mochas! I'm a coffee addict ... how embarrassing!
pps Would you be interested in playing at San Diego's Street Scene? Jewel was there last year. Once again...COME BACK! We love you down here!!

Hello Mr. Sheik -

Realize you've got your hands full with all the questions; you can mostly dub the ones by "Wolfspirit" irrelevant at this point, if that will help. I just wanted to know:
1. If you ever got a chance to check out the "Christianity vs other belief systems" you spoke of - we called it "spiritual paths"; well, I and II - about 800 replies thus far
No need to reply in return; just wondering! It was quite an enlightening trip!
2. A little about this next record you've alluded to on this site? A perhaps tentative release date? Anything in the works yet? Not that you haven't been a bit busy lately...

Hope someone comes through and answers your above question quickly, for your generous quick post. The music must be quite good!!
Take care,
Shari.

Hey Duncan!!! Good to hear from ya I was at the Alexandria, VA show but I didn't give you any CD cover mockups. But I did give you roses and a poem I wrote that I was very proud of. Hope you enjoyed them and I hope you find the person who gave you the CD covers. Take care and have a great day.

Much Love,
Sam

Hey Duncan.

I didn't give you the cover mock-ups, but I hope you find that person anyway. Maybe you could just write a list of random facts about yourself and put it up in the RAVES section.

I bet that you had no idea that we wanted to know so much about you!

Carly

I put your query up on Duncan_Sheik, Duncan Sheik (yes, they are different entities!!) and Sheiktalk mailing lists. That should help.

Hi Duncan,

It's very cool (and a bit surprising) that you like the pictures.

I'll give you some background information...

When I saw that tag on the equipment I immediately wanted to take a picture, but I waited until the end of the show; I didn't want to be kicked out of the Norva for having a camera. If you look at one of the small glossies (Did I remember to give those to you?), you'll see the back of a sneaker. The crew was quick to clean up after the show so I was lucky to get the shot.

The Watercolor - The pictures of the performance turned out poorly (reddish and blurry) but that particular one had interesting composition. Photoshop's color balance and watercolor filter tools are great. I hope it doesn't look too much like cheesy art on velvet.

DUNCAN

did you understand the scrawled WINETASTING info I gave you at the red cross festival? I must say that after a day in the sun and several beverages, I wasn't at my best when I tried to convey the info to you.

if you don't get it, or you want more info (it's really worth the trip!), e-mail me. webmaster mike (and I think you) can get access to my e-mail.

cheers - r

Okay Duncan. I apologize for contributing yet another reply that has nothing to do with your question, but I really think that you'll enjoy these pictures from the Red Cross Festival. There are some excellent close-ups of you. They're sepia and I think that they're simply beautiful!

Hope you have a chance to get some much needed rest!!

Hello Duncan,

I was speaking to someone the other day whom I believe gave you a wonderful Illustration -of you infact. Is this the mockup you are speaking of?

We were talking under the Other Musician's/Like's Thread here that I started.

If this is the one, then please see kenmeyerjr under this topic.

PS. I was going to wait for a reply from you first.

It's SO VERY nice speaking to you.

Peace and love,
Michele

michelle...could he be talking of my watercolor? I doubt it, it must be something else...an actual mock up of a cover or something..would be cool if he liked my stuff enuf to have me do some work for him, tho...the music market is one I would love to break into...duncan, if you read this, check out my site at http://www.kenmeyerjr.com you'll see the painting I gave you and paintings I've given to other musicians (or art I've done for them and other projects).

thanks, michelle!

Please read my comment to you Ken. (Other Musician's/Like's)
Your works look great to me. Do you mostly only do Musician's you like???

Bruce just came on my CD player.
The newest one. Its spectacular. I'll check out those other ones later.

I love the illustration of Bonnie Raitt. She's one of my favorites as well. I sing her music.

Thanks Ken. Maybe it is you.

i just had a great idea, but don't know where to post it...so even though it is completely not related to the posted topic...i think it's a good idea. someone should hold a contest to see who the biggest duncan fan is...and have someone judge...maybe duncan himself. kind of like that show fanatic or celebrity undercover on mtv. so if anyone wants to hold it great (or i might myself) or have any suggestions e-mail me at hookerhoe101@yahoo.com...

DUNCAN IS THE BEST,
BRITT

P.S. I haven't really thought it through but i think it could be fun...esp for us hard-core duncan fans....lol

So CD cover mockups may be about artwork, eh?? I thought he got some CD's revolving around a musician doing "covers" of songs...
...
Oh well, good luck troops!! Help the guy out!
I'll bow out now,

Duncan,

Didn't get to see you at the Red Cross Alexandria, VA show, but I heard it was a phenomenal performance. I would have loved to come, but I had a show in DC at 2:30pm that day.

At any rate - hope you have enjoyed the CD that I gave you. Any thoughts on it? Suggestions? Are you using it as a coaster?

Take care, and rock on,

wow...a bit overwhelming...all these responses. i get tired just reading through them...and NONE of them are addressed to me...ah, that Duncan...he's a trooper.

wish is had been me, my friend, that gave you the CD thing. never thought you'd be interested in stuff like that...i'll have to conjure up all the creativity inside me (which seems to take quite a bit of effort lately) and draw you something cool...one more weird thing to say, "ok, now where do i put this..."

goodnight and goodluck

I've already pulled the first clump Duncan! And by the way I heard a review on a man named Rufus Wainwright (sp?), his CD is called Poses. I thought his music sounded just your style, if you don't mind me saying so.

Well Duncan, it looks as though you have discovered the answer to your Cover Art query. And now I don't have to feel bad due to the fact that this message has nothing whatsoever to do with it.
I have a question for you. I wondered how you feel about performing live? I have seen you twice now. Once about 3 years ago in East Lansing, Michigan while I was an Senior in college, and recently at the Village Underground show now that I'm a graduate student at NYU. If you don't mind my saying so (or even if you do) you seem uncomfortable, shy, and uncertain of your welcome on stage. You seem unsure of yourself. Why is that? You have a lot of talent and natural presence, so why do you appear so out of your element? I apologize if you find this question offensive, but I honestly find myself intrigued by this small mystery.

p.s. I don't know who "Bobbo" is, or what he said, but I just wanted you to know that you left an M out of the word "grammatically", and I can't let that one pass! It's the grad. student illness that pervades my soul. Take care. Peace and Wisdom.

Hey, there,
Vanessa here--I've been offline for a while but I'm (mostly) back. :-)
If any of you creative types are interested in pursuing some photoshop-type Duncan-related art, you are welcome to e-mail that kind of stuff to me and I'll put it up on my website. For example, I've started a page of DS wallpapers. I hope that interests some of you!

Peace,
Vanessa
