Hey Duncan, ...i'm very far away, in Newfoundland, so it isn't often that i'm near a public appearance, but this morning I was lucky enough tocatch the Today show...dispite the weather the 2 songs they aired were excellent... ...i was wondering where Matt was, and why he wasn't 'drumming'? thanks, IP: Logged |

Hey Duncan - Bet you're glad to be home and getting some much-needed rest. I never really asked a question here (I joke a lot)...but hope you had a chance to check out the "Christianity vs other beliefs systems" you spoke of; we called it "Spiritual Paths" and it took off with a spiritual force of its own...we're about to close it down cuz of the VOLUME of replies!! May I ask what's up for this next record you've alluded to? No need to go into any detail; you probably don't have any detail quite yet!! But you did allude to a possible release date? Let's face it; we love your music! Take care, [This message has been edited by wolfspirit (edited May 29, 2001).] IP: Logged |

Duncan, I caught you last shows at the troubador, the Killborn show, and the coach house. The performance at the coach house was by far the best one I've seen. I had last seen you in '99 with Lisa Loeb in Claremont. Anyway, I was just wondering how things are now that you have some downtime. I hope all is well. Thanks IP: Logged |

Duncan - what would be the chances of doing a re-release of At The Reservoir? I think that a lot of your fans would love to get to listen to it. I would love to get it for my sister and myself to share. But, the only way to get it is on Ebay and I really can't afford the stress or the price. I'm very competitive and I get stressed trying to play the last minute outbid game. Just a thought.... IP: Logged |

Duncan, I was able to catch your show on the 22nd in San Diego. I was inspired by your performance and your new album. By the way, thanks for signing my CD.Here is my question. After writtng so many songs, which on of them is your favorite, and or, which one moves you the most. What I mean is which one feels like the first time every time you play it. Kevin IP: Logged |

Hello Duncan, first of all, you rule dude! I think the audience will only get to know one side of an artist and never the person he really is, unless he proves to be "no more celestial than anyone else"... And that just canīt be now. You make heavenly music and that makes you a bit more special than a lot of other people and even artists. But, here is my question: I was wondering... does "Anything Special" have a relationship with your own life? Do you wrote that maybe referring of how an artistīs life may be empty or shallow, once the midia sells only an image of a perfect person and never the real person (since privacy is always welcome)? Just wanted to know that. IP: Logged |

Hey Duncan. Great to finally see you in concert recently at the troubadour in LA after being a fan for the past few years. Too bad you had all those sound problems. I saw your set list and you had barely breathing and alibi on it, but you did not play those songs. How come? I thought I would hear barely breathing for sure. It was kindof disapointing. The rest of the concert was great though. By the Way, is there anyplace where I can find tabs to play your songs on the guitar (mainly just the ones in alternate tunings)? IP: Logged |

Whoops, just remembered Duncan's Room for questions... posted June 02, 2001 02:10 AM I couldn't believe it when I first came to this message board and saw that you contribute to your own message board. How down to earth is that?! I'm hoping to catch you at Central Park later this month since I'm a local. Can you verify that the Central Park concert is still on with the Go-Go's? I just checked the SummerStage site and there's nothing listed for June 22. Thanks! Hey, I'm a child of the 80's myself! hi , my name is mathew heilman, i saw you in your concert in norfolk va, it was your first concert i had been to, and it was one of the best concerts i have seen, you and jerry were awesome. I went with my sister Britt, she is the one who got me into listening to your music. You are her favorite musician. She is going to see you again at the red cross concert in alexandria va, and she is really excited. I know one her favorite songs is out of order, and i know she would love it if you would play it. I'm sure you already have a set list and everything, and you have songs that you would have to play otherwise people who don't really listen to the whole cd would be confused, and wonder if you were singing one of your own songs. But she just had her birthday and i thought that would be a cool present, since she loves your music so much. have fun (:IP: Logged |

I just got Phantom Moon and Humming (yes I know it took me a while) and I can't stop listening, I really love it all. The only question I have, and I'm sure you've gotten this before, is what you would advise aspiring musicians to do when first trying to be heard. I sing and play piano, and being just a young woman I don't get taken seriously (I guess club managers have never heard of tori amos) and I'm at a loss for what to do to get my music out there. If you have any advice, it would be much appreciated. I also posted to say that I think you are beautiful and you are touching people with your music, myself included.. I will certainly get the next album once it comes out. Take care, Aliisa [This message has been edited by jstthepianoplyr (edited June 02, 2001).] IP: Logged |

Hey Duncan, I just heard on a local radio station that you are coming back to Denver sometime in mid June at Six Flaggs over Elitch's but I can't seem to find out when and have not heard it again on the radio. The problem is that I didn't catch what radio station they announced it on as I hate the radio, I prefer cd's but my player in the car broke so until I get it fixed it's the radio for me. Anyway, are you coming back to Denver? I don't want to miss it. Thanks Bill IP: Logged |

Just a note on the Christianity vs. other. I am a devout,( but not fundamentalist or anything!) Christian. I have no problem about other faiths, hey, God gave us free will! I think it's much better to have a world with all different viewpoints, hey, life would be boring without them. Believe what you believe in. I think God, or some aspect thereof is in every religion and every heart. P.S. I'm going to get medieval on someone's butt if Ducan doesn't come to Ohio. And no 21 or older places, I'm 17! It seems like an utter failure to express the warmth that your music provokes me...Without a doubt you are one of the most profound songwriters of our time. Who was the first songwriter to manifest its power upon you? [This message has been edited by Echo (edited June 06, 2001).] IP: Logged |

Duncan, I saw your show earlier in the tour in Michigan and loved it. You guys were awesome! It was by far the best show I have ever been to and I go to tons of concerts every year. I was wondering if a live cd is a possibility in the future??? I love the intro to "Rubbed Out" live and I enjoy the twist you put on your songs when you play them live. It is similar to what Adam Duritz from the Coutning Crows does to make each concert special for the audience. Any possibilities of a live album sometime in the future??? If so, please play the extended version of "Rubbed Out" on there!!! Thanks!!! Brandon Detroit, MI IP: Logged |

Hi Duncan! I know you're really busy, and I think it's great how you take time out of your schedule to answer people's questions. Very brave of you to post this topic, for you never know what someone might ask. I have two questions if that's ok. The first is when you became a well known musician, were you able to tell the difference between the people who really cared for you as a person, and the people who pretended to care for you but were only interested in your name, what they could get from you, or just being associated with you. Hopefully you didn't have that happen and not be aware of it. My second question is regarding your practice of Buddhism. What was the turning point in your life that made you realize Catholicism wasn't working out for you? Did your parents or any other family members criticize you for the change in your religious beliefs? I was curious, but if I'm getting too personal you don't have to answer. I just think it's cool you even take the time to read these questions. You seem to be a very unpretentious person. Thank you, Lauren. IP: Logged |

Hey Duncan- Its going to be tough for me to keep this question short. I have so much to say. Basically, I am looking for help. Spiritually, I am more a Buddhist than anything else. Reading Buddhism touches me in a way that other religions don't. I read quite a bit of Buddhism, and meditate daily, but other than that, I am not practicing.I have been writing for a few years now-mainly about how the world is, and how it should be. I didn't even know who you were until December when a friend of mine introduced me to your music. I have become a big fan of your music. "With every small decision, you change a heart, you change the world." I find your music simple and beautiful. Anyway...to the help part. I want to be published someday. I feel like I have so much to say about life that honestly can touch people. In a few short sentences, I basically believe that fear, ego-grasping, anger and narrowmindedness are our biggest enemies. These are what we all must overcome. I watch how horrible people are to each other, and I could easily say that people are just cruel, and feel defeated, but this is something I refuse to do. I believe that every person, even those who are judged by society as bad, have so much good in them, and that our own ignorance perpetuates our judgements of others, and our own misery. I could say so much more, but I will leave it at that. I have decided to contact famous people who seem to have the same ideas as me in search of any help they can offer me. My ultimate goal is to be published although it probably will not be for years. I figure people in the spotlight may be able to help. The Dalai Lama and yourself are the first people on my list. I was hoping you could offer me insights, ideas, words of wisdom, anything. If you would like to read some of what I have written, let me know. I have quite a bit to offer, but I understand that you are a busy guy. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I hope to hear from you. I also hope that you are happy and doing well. thanks for your time, IP: Logged |

Hiya Duncan! How are you? Very well I hope. Your music is some of the best that I've ever heard, and I think that you are extremely talented both as a singer and a writer. I haven't had the pleasure of attending any of your concerts because whenever you are scheduled to play in my area, I have school obligations, etc. - but I do keep your cds close at hand because, believe me, they are truly awesome. I've got a few questions to ask you (Surprise!!!), and here they are : IP: Logged |

Hi Duncan: Well, this is my first message, and I wanna ask you just one thing: Will you make a tour out of USA?, maybe Latin America?. See, I'm from Chile (at the bottom of the map you can find it), and I realy love your songs, and how you sing them, that's why I really wanna see you "live and direct". I wanna know if that will be possible someday..... I hope so.... I'll wait your answer, bye IP: Logged |

OK...I know I posted this under the "Quick Question" post, but incase you'd be more likely to see, or reply to, my message here ... well it's here. And sorry for posting this long letter under the mock up question. It has no relation to that question, but it wasn't me who gave them to you. Sorry I hope you find the person! Best wishes! DUNCAN! Hey! How are you? Thank you again for being so kind at the Belly Up and the Coach House! I wrote a review/summary of the two evenings and sent them to webmaster@duncansheik.com, but I wanted to make sure with you, if you approved of putting some of the info that I wrote about it in the article. Let me know Please come back! There's now a group of about 5 of us who all planned to meet up at the next concert you do down here! We love you! I noticed you still had my necklace on for the Today Show performance. I'm glad you liked it! Please E-Mail me sometime! aallen@nctimes.net Also, what's the status of Spring Awakenings? Are you coming to the La Jolla Playhouse? If not, I really, really want to, and will come to NYC to see it. I want to see TriBeCa too! What kind of guitar is your silver one? I love it. You inspired me to get a guitar (acoustic). I can't put it down! Thanks for the inspiration! I'm also really into Buddhism now. Thank you. Any (Buddhist) book recommendations? Peace Jennie ps What kind of coffee do you like? I love caramel mochas! I'm a coffee addict ... how embarrassing! pps Would you be interested in playing at San Diego's Street Scene? Jewel was there last year. Once again...COME BACK! We love you down here!! IP: Logged |

Duncan! Hey! I just wanna say thank you first of all for sharing your talent with the world and your music has helped me through so much!! and now my question! The next time you come to houston, tx, could you do a show for all ages? I don't know if this is true but someone told me you had to be like 18 to see your show at the mucky duck and that deeply dissapointed me! i had been looking forward to your show so much and i was sooo sad. I do not know if you will even read this but i am begging you to do this for me and for all the houston fans! We love you! IP: Logged |
