It has been so great to see all of you at the shows, I'm having a great time on the road, finally! (but, sorry about my rough night in Providence.) Hope to see some of you tonight at the village Underground. Wish me luck (you know, hometown shows can be really tricky) I'm going to chant now.......DS

Duncan - we should be thanking you!!

Thank you for a wonderful performance last week in Detroit.

I wish I could come out to NY for one of tonight's performances. I think the hometown thing gives you a real advantage!

Thankfully yours. . . Kathleen

I would have thought hometown shows would be great especially the being able to go home, sleeping in your own bed. Sorry, it's Friday, I think I am a little fixated on sleep today.
Anyway, best of luck tonight and have fun.

Hey Duncan,
Don't be thanking us!! THANK YOU for putting out such moving music and being such a wonderful human being. I love how fame hasn't affected you in the slightest. I'm looking very forward to seeing you at the Birchmere in Alexandria. It will be my first time seeing you live and hopefully I'll see you many more times in the coming years. I'm gonna fight my way to the front seats to see you and I'll have a rose in my hand, a gift for my favorite singer and writer in the world Thanks again Duncan.

Much Love,
Samantha

Duncan,

I'm curious to know how you found your show in Toronto? You seemed surprised at the response you had... just a thought... Come on! You're supposed to be a serious artist! Get it together! *lol*:)

Thanks for the great show, it was amazing and made for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Thanks again,
Lynnsey

P.S. Did you see yourself in the paper?

Duncan,
I'm sorry that I missed your post of earlier today. I have been writing. I had one extra ticket for your Philadelphia show for tomorrow and a lucky fan of yours is taking it. In fact she believes that maybe we were standing right next to eachother at your last Philly show and didn't even know it until now. How's that for karma?

As you know my Father passed away just over 2 weeks ago. I found so much peace, serenity and comfort in listening to your newest work during this time while I was caring for him and now since his passing. I haven't really been able to get myself to listen to other artists yet. Just alittle radio.

I was so happy to see a new post from you and to know you are well. I'm very excited that I will be seeing you tomorrow night. I will introduce myself to you after the show or maybe during the show. You will know it's me.
I am very excited in knowing we will be sharing this space together tomorrow night and all this good karma as well. Stay well Duncan. Be at peace,

I will be near you soon.
Have a great evening Duncan,

Michele........ maybe I can post later......

Maybe you can teach me what you know of Buddhism and share it's specialness with me.

Duncan, I don't know how to start this: I am an SGI member, 11 years on April 13th, and I learned on that day that you will be playing in Santa Fe Sunday, May 13th (Mother's Day!). You will be performing at The Paramount, a very nice club-but I am biased, I 'help out' there. I have already asked not to work the night you are playing so I can really pay attention to you. But more importantly, we are a small town, but have a very devoted Chapter that would love to chant with you while you are here, if you would like. Jamie Lenfesty, the promoter knows me (and knows I'm a Buddhist) and he has my number, if you are interested. We will be posting your performance in our Monthly SGI-Santa Fe Calendar/Newsletter(as well as SGI Member Comedian Karen Williams performance on Memorial Weekend), so there should be plenty of daimoku going out to you, as well as Buddhists in the audience. I can't imagine you actually emailing me, but I am at zdanger@cybermesa.com
I am amazed by what people say of your live performances. It's obvious that you chant A LOT! Looking forward to hearing you 'LIVE' for the first time.
Susan
P.S. I re-read your experience in Living Buddhism-I cried-again. Thank you!

You were a little rough on the guitars tho, that was funny. Thanks for another memorable performance!!! Hope to see you again in the near future. by the way " Lo and behold" is my personal favorite on PM

I'd like to begin by thanking you for your first two albums and all the hard times they got me through (long story if you care to hear it)...and then thank you for this beautiful new album.

Pleasantries aside, I had a huge disappointment on Monday when I missed your show in Rochester, NY, where I live. I had to go back to college the day before (on Easter, how dumb is that?) and I just couldn't find a way to stay and make the show. I really wanted to go. Bummer. Anyway, I know it's inappropriate to ask you to try coming back soon so I guess I'll just plead with you to make a stop back in Rochester on the next tour, when ever that may be.

Good luck on the rest of the tour.

Hi everyone!

Ok, I can't believe I am going to tell all of y'all this(including Duncan) Oy.

After the Boston show, I could have easily told Duncan how much I love his music in person! I mean, I was inches away! Instead I became too shy shy. I went completely Kajagoogoo. I am sure he would have been very nice nice.

Bear with me here, but this all relates to my mother's unnatural passion for Peter, Paul, and Mary. Mary, specifically. At one point, we lived only a few doors down from And Mary. My mother always prided herself on NEVER bothering her because she thought it rude rude. I mean, she could have brought her freshly baked cookies and had a laugh, but no, it was not to be.

This story has no moral really. If you see Duncan, be brave and be sure to tell him what a fan you are. Duncan, I wish I had!

Your performance tonight at the Village Underground was absolutely, positively mesmorizingly fantastic. (I don't think I can fit another adjective in that sentence). I want to thank you so much for taking the time to sign an autograph and take a picture with me. I'm still floating on air (without my Faerie wings!) and I think I will be for a very long time. Thank you so very much for being such a dedicated star to your fans!

--Sarah
P.S. The way you and your assistant treated that bouncer was fabulous! I really and truly wish more people in the limelight were as kind and generous to their fans as you are.

Since being introduced to your music by my Lady 2 years ago, I waited patiently for your next tour and I was not disappointed. Last night at the Village Underground I was not only a fan, but I felt as a memeber of a family. As a writer for More Sugar (a local Westchester Entertainment Monthly Newspaper) I will make sure that your music reaches everyone of my readers. Thank You Duncan for a great performance. I hope to see you again when you return to NY.

Duncan, we should be thanking you! You are an excellent performer, and are a joy to see.

There is one thing. Could you please stop playing in 18 and over clubs? A large nuumber of your fans (me included) are under 18.

Thank you for letting me meet you in Madison.

hey duncan, hows it going?
i also want to say thank you, but for a different reason. you see i live in the UK, in scotland, and i heard "that says it all" in three to tango, and i wanted to hear more. i have listened to a few of your songs now, and WOW, you are such a brilliant singer and musician, and "that says it all" is one of my favourite songs ever. you should come over to the UK sometime, and let everyone else over here get a taste of just how damn good your music is. I'll be seein ya, hopefully,

Dear Duncan,
Do you see the littlle light bulb thing I put as my message icon? I choose that one because ever since your show at Providence, I have been glowing and I thought that was a cute symbol. You are very welcome and I must thank you again. If only I could make you realize what a great show you put on, besides the technical difficulties. The whole evening actually was wonderful and while I'm typing this, my hands are shaking from reminiscing. The whole setting inside the club was comforting and intimate, just the way I like it. I sat at a table almost in front of the stage and met two very nice people. One of them was Kim, who posted earlier, and a guy named Jamie. While waiting for you, I bought a little bottle of Poland Springs water which costed $2.75! I made a joke at the table, saying that I should have you drink from it, so that it's actually worth the price. Then you came on the stage and I sat there mesmerized, even through the breaking of guitar strings, which you adapted to very well. After a little while, you asked the audience if anyone had a bottle of water they wanted to toss you. At that moment, Kim slapped me on the knee, and I laughed in disbelief. But your bassist gave you one, before I could react. Your bassist, by the way, gave me a new reply when people say things that are ridiculous....BINGO! Remember when someone shouted out to you, "Let's Make Out"? He said, BINGO! I thought that was great. Anyway, what really topped off my night was when you came out right after the show, to sign autographs and what not. While waiting in line, I was sooo nervous. Usually, there's a general rule I live by, be cool on the outside and a geek on the inside (remember Kim?). Then, there we were face to face, and after you slightly bowed down and said Thank you the first time, it broke my "coolness". I couldn't even look you in the eye when I was telling you the stuff that really mattered, like how your albums provide comfort in knowing that I'm not alone in my thoughts and beliefs. I think I was talking to your t-shirt that was hanging on the wall next to us, at that point. All too quickly, I asked for your autograph and to write me a chant to say when I get nervous, which made you laugh. Then you kindly posed with me for a picture and those seconds seemed like at least ten minutes. I think it was a rare moment in which I was truly fully aware of what was going on around me. I don't even know if I said thank you or even bye as soon as the picture was taken, I'm sorry if I didn't. While walking away from the club, I was overwhelmed with so many different emotions. I didn't want to go to sleep that night. The next day, I had to go to work and I was thinking about how genuinely nice and kind you were. I thought about how you seemed to live your life with honesty, and how you grow compassion in that way. Yes, our little brief meeting had a huge effect on me. You inspired me more than any self-help book could, which I am guilty of reading even though, I'd burn the self-help section with you any day. It's so fustrating how feeling can't pack the same energy when I try to put them into words but, maby if I told you that I'm laughing and crying on the inside while I'm typing this, (not outwardly because I'm at a public library and I'm too cool for that), you could understand. Duncan, you are a diamond. Your show at Providence, your kindness afterwards, it stayed with me and its so rare to see something to believe and carry in my heart, I'm a little mistrustful or picky, who knows. But before, I lose the main point, I just want to say thank you for not giving up during your performance in Providence and showing compassion and patience for your audience. Please come back here when you start your next tour. Don't let your "personal nightmare" get in the way. If it moved one heart, thats all that matters......and you moved a lot of us.
Thank You. Merci. Muchas Gracias.

Your friend,
Amy

Duncan,
Thank you for an incredible evening at the House of Blues in Boston last Wednesday night. I've been a fan since the very first time I hear "barely breathing" and rushed right out to buy the album. I've been hooked ever since. "Home" was my wedding song in 1998 and listening to you play it Wednesday reminded me why I love your music. Thank you for sharing your poetry with us and I hope that you will return to Boston again soon. It was truely our pleasure!!

Hi Duncan!
I was at the Lupo's concert on April 17th 2001. I met you backstage, and I was the one that cried. I still feel like a dork for crying, but I am glad I got to meet you all. By the way, the show wasn't that bad... all the stuff that went wrong was out of your control, so don't feel bad. My friends and I all enjoyed the show very much and we hope you come back to Rhode Island soon. Ok, i'm going to end this now, but I just wanted to add a thank you for letting my friends and I stay backstage.

ps. Who is Home written for? It's a beautiful song and I like it very much.
Thank You,
Brittany

I was at the village underground last night and the show was fabulous. My friends and I knew we were going to love seeing you but getting to meet you and some of your family was more than we hoped. Thank you for giving us a most memorable evening. You were so nice to us even though I think that you were a little "scared" of us. (I think that I gushed a bit much)You were so nice to sign our shirts and cds and even let us take a ton of pictures with you, the pictures came out great!
Thank You so much!!!

I'm such a Dork!

Duncan, I finally get the chance to meet you in Toronto after your most amazing show, and all I had to say was "if you believe that, I've got some swamp land in Florida that I can sell you". This was in response to you knowing exactly how to spell my brother Jose's name with the correct accent.

What I really wanted to say was that you are a truly inspiring, classy dude that exudes both passion and serenity on and off stage, but I think I left my courage back in Oz.

Thank you so very much and LOL

I'm glad the NYC show went well. I was going to initailly attend that show but I decided to go to the Providence show instead. I'm glad I did. It was just a cool relaxed show and you were awesome to come right out and talk to everyone. That has never happened at any show I've been to. I forgot to ask you if you ever perform Nick Drake's "Three Hours"? You told me to talk to Matty but he was busy putting his drums away and I didn't want to bother him.I don't know if you would remember me but I was with one of my friends and you thought she had a really cool name. Anyway, good luck with the rest of the tour.Keep listening to Joao Gilberto and pack some extra packs of strings just in case. And about the Providence show, no one seemed to mind.I brought one of my friends that didn't really know about you and you definitely have a new fan. Take care, Michelle

hey

i went to the Providence show and the Boston show....both were awesome. One thing that strikes me is watching how much FUN Duncan has while playing......and also how humble he is while talking to fans. that's awesome.

a good memory for me....Boston....while waiting for him to come out, i just happened to look up where the soundboard was and there was Duncan peering down....thanks for sharing a smile with me.

rock on.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Duncan. Finally my default song (the song that gets stuck in my head and I sing for weeks or months at a time) is a song I like. For months I have been driving, everyone including myself crazy, singing, "Pretty Fly for a White Guy", I noticed this morning as I sat at my desk without any thought I was singing "November". Of course, my horrible voice will still drive everyone around me nuts, but at least I am enjoying the song now.
Warm Regards,
Jenn
