Duncan played a show at Northwestern University with Ben Folds that I attended and I'm going to the show at the Vic on Wednesday. The show at Northwestern was very good. It was a strange atmosphere because I was one of the few who knew his stuff. Most were there to see Ben Folds, and, unfortunately, were not open to Duncan's music. I am worried that the same problem will happen at Ben Folds. Because Ben is the headline, and Duncan plays a considerably smaller set, that most of the concert-goers are Ben Folds fans and therefore choose to talk way too friggin' much during Duncan's set. But I do understand the motives of Duncan playing with Ben Folds, ya know, trying to get more exposure within a different crowd of music fans. So I hope for the best on Wednesday and maybe he'll play "Out of Order" considering I was trying to get him to play it all nite at Northwestern. Should be fun. IP: Logged |

Yeah, I was at the Northwestern show, too, and noticed that a lot of the people there weren't particularly interested in seeing Duncan. Granted, not a lot of people even knew for sure that he was opening. Some of the guys standing near me kept saying that they just wanted him to play 'Barely Breathing,' but I saw a couple of them starting to be more interested in the second half of Duncan's set. I think Duncan did a great job; I really enjoyed the show and he was very gracious at the autograph table after his set. I wish I had tickets to the Chicago show this week, but I'd really like to see play his own concert sometime soon. IP: Logged |
