I just got back from the show in Milwaukee. It was excellent! Set list included all the usual songs. He sounded incredible, Genius was definitely a highlight! Anyway, after his set, I went over to the bar area of the Rave which was absolutely deserted, expecting him to come out and chat. My friend (who I dragged along, but who is now a Duncan fan) and I were sitting at the bar, and Duncan came out quickly and left! I didn't see him in time, walking right behind me, and my friend didn't recognize him. I was disappointed, but had a feeling he would be back because he had left without his coat, and because Jerry was still hanging around. It paid off. He came back, got his coat, and came back out. I guess he wasn't in the mood to hang out too long like he usually does, but I stopped him, and congratulated him on an excellent set. He signed a couple CDs for me, chatted for a few minutes, and then took off. What a nice guy! I felt like such a dork, because I was so excited that my hands were shaking, and I was probably rambling on like an idiot. Anyway, it was very cool, and I was happy that he said he would be back here in the spring! My friend was impressed because he thought Duncan seemed so appreciative to his fans. What an amazing experience - I think I have a permanent smile on my face now! [This message has been edited by Ooblek (edited November 23, 2002).] IP: Logged |

Excellent story! I'm glad you got to meet the Duncster. He never fails to impress. I can't wait to hear Genius live. Oh, and when I first met Duncan at Cental Park, an EMS dude asked if I was okay!!! I maaaaaay have fallen to the ground or something for a breather, hmmmm..... ...did I just admit that?! For the record, I was 17! Age has to be an excuse. Maria IP: Logged |

Yes!! I was at the Milwaukee show last night, too! His performance brought tears to my eyes, I was so entranced. I met Duncan afterwards while he was behind the merchandise booth signing for people. I honestly could not breathe, I was so star struck. I shook his hand twice and he was the coolest guy in the universe at that moment. He even signed a special message for my friend who's in Australia! She's coming home on Tuesday after 8 months down there and Duncan wrote a special message to her!! How sweet! After I told him that he made me cry with "End of Outside," he looked so shy and modest. I wanted to talk to him for a million hours but I just couldn't bring myself to ask him any of the things I had on my mind seconds before while I was standing in line. ^_^ One of my goals in life is now to meet him again and actually say something intelligible! I'm sure I thanked him for a great show (there were also people being jerks while he was playing and yelling "We want Ben Folds!" and I secretly started getting annoyed with BF because he had some jackass fans so I wanted to apologize for that, not that Duncan cared because he just played what he wanted for his own reasons, like "For You," and I was very glad that he didn't let anything get to him because his performance was absolutely incredible . . . flawless) but I think I seemed like a real dufus because it was the first time I met him and I can't even remember what the heck I said. I had so many things to tell him, why couldn't I say them?!?! Grrr . . . and I'm definitely older than 17 so you'd think I'd be able to contain myself. Anyway, it was an amazing experience and my awe of Duncan has increased by about a billion percent. What an incredible musician and human being . . . IP: Logged |

He was back by the merchandise booth? I actually checked back there and didn't see him among all those people! That's where he must have been while I was waiting in the bar! For the record, I'm much older than 17 too (almost 31), so there is no excuse for my starstruck behavior. Galore 4 - I totally understand about "falling to the floor". I had to sit down for a good 5 minutes after he left, and my friend was afraid I'd be unable to drive home safely! I am such a dork!!!! IP: Logged |

Tina: I know Dave is probably waiting for this concert to pass. Now, if you have him dress up as Duncan for an upcoming costume party, a la "Just Jenn," I wonder what he'd do. ![]() Richard [This message has been edited by BryterLayter77 (edited November 24, 2002).] IP: Logged |

I SAW DUNCAN in Milwaukee and He signed my arm, and I got it tattooed in. He is very sweet and he had this cute hairstyle that looked like a mohawk onstage I don't care if Ben Folds played on not, I was only interested in Duncan to begin with ![]() Mary ------------------ IP: Logged |

It's on my right arm up near my shoulder, it's really big, because he made this joke about making it big enough for a tattoo artist to replicate, and when I told him I wanted to have it tattooed in, he blushed, it was SOOOOO cute!! I should have a link up to the picture before the end of the day. It's really stung and it took two hours for the artist to draw in because the original marker kept smearing. but in the end it turned out fabulous. I wish I could get a picture for him to see ![]() Mary ------------------ IP: Logged |

Here's a link to the pic of my tattoo. Its at Geocities, so it might not always work. If someone has webspace to post it for me, I can email it to them. http://www.geocities.com/nyc_crack_team/ds-autotat.jpg ------------------ IP: Logged |

Aww, nutty. Geocities must be actin' up. It's not working. Hmmm. I'm gonna email ya even though I should be doing my insane amount of work. Everyone needs a break, I suppose. I'm thinkin of getting a tat myself (do cool people call 'em tats?! Jeez. I may be on the outside loop. fuck.) If I got one, I think it'd be of the word "Grace" taken from Jeff Buckley's album. I'd have the same lettering and such. Buuuut, I don't really know... I gota give it some more thought. I try to strive for spontanity but I'm what you call an over-thinker. It's not always a good thing.

Yup, tats are on the in loop it wasn't my first though. Anyone who knows about video games or plays them, might be familliar with a publisher called "Squaresoft" makers of Final Fantasy. I had the logo tattooed on my left shoulder. All my tata are easily hidden, yet also easily displayed. As for pain while getting one, I would say it hurts less than being hit by a car. Woooooow! It's awesome and quite huge! You're dedicated, that's for sure. You gotta show Duncan next time you see it... or better yet, if your geocities site work, maybe he'll take a looksy himself.
