Hey guys. This is a question for the aspiring singer here. Would anyone know if the Fender Passport 150 portable powered amplifier is good for vocal performance? If you have alternative suggestions I would appreciate your comments. IP: Logged |

Hey, The Passport is OK, but mostly you're paying for the Fender name. I gig as a duo, and recently bought the Kustom Profile One. It's pretty cool -- does the trick, sounds really good, it's easy to get around with, and it's cheap (<$300, at music123.com.) One big let down about the Kustom, though, is that it doesn't have any easy way to put a stage monitor on it. As with any gear purchase, the best thing to do is really figure out EVERYTHING you could possibly need from the thing, go look at it in person, and figure out what works best. Don't buy anything just because some nerd on the 'net (like myself) says it's the best thing since sliced bread. Off soapbox now. Good luck. And rock on. Hey Distant_star- I don't know much about what's good or bad when it comes to PA's and such, but I have played through one of those Fender Passports (acoustic guitar, vocals) and my main complaint was that it seemed to sort of muddy everything up. Vocals seemed sort of muffled and I couldn't get the guitar to sound right. However, I will say that for its low price and easy mobility, it might be worth sacrificing a little sound quality in the name of convenience. Ok, that's my $0.02. Good luck! Steve IP: Logged |
