I am so fortunate to live 15 minutes away from new haven.. where Long Wharf was going to put on the rock-musical "Spring awakenings".. we all know duncan wrote more than 20 songs for it.. but i learned like a month ago that it wasnt coming to the spring 2003 season bc it wasn't finished.. and complications.. bla bla bla.. it makes me a little squeemish at the thought of it and its non-exsistance in a place near me.. does anyone know when and where it is comiong.. on the long wharf site they only said that they hope to see this musical there in the future.. no definate plans.. and im trying not to loose my hope.. but it saddens me so.. please someone out there.. know something! all i know is that this was supposed to open here, in my city, almost 2 years ago.... they open alot of broadway or off-broadway stuff out here first to see how it goes. it was scheduled and everything, but then disappeared. i wasn't able to get any dish on why it was scrapped, but it seems this project just can't get off the ground. probably money. it costs a ton o' cash to open a live theater production. sorry, sweetie, but don't hold your breath. i wish i, or anyone, had some good news. maybe someone does.... it ain't me, though. i was looking forward to seeing it, too. oh, well..... toodles, IP: Logged |

I saw portions while Duncan was at the Sundance playwrights' lab in April, 2000, and it looked very interesting. I hope it makes it on tour sometime! Nick IP: Logged |

The buzz on the street is that "Spring Awakening" is still in development, but the reason it was canceled in New Haven and New York was scheduling. The director of the piece is Michael Mayer. He is a well-known, popular theatre director who is apparently very busy right now. They probably don't want to move the project forward without him, since he's been the director from the very beginning of its development. As soon as his schedule opens up, they'll probably get the production up. IP: Logged |
