I'm not a big fan of top 40 radio, but I've been paying attention to it since "On A High" first came out. St. Louis' biggest local top 40 station, 101.1 River, now has "On A High" listed at number 11 on its playlist. Up until recently, it lingered on the bottom of the list. (This makes me very happy because I'd love nothing more than for a thoughtful artist like Duncan to knock the tired, trite and overwrought Avril Lavignes of the world off of their fake plastic pedestals.) Anyway, is anyone else noticing more airplay on their local radio stations? Is it possible that "On A High" is going to slowly gain steam, as "Barely Breathing" did? I was further intrigued when I heard the song tonight, and the DJ introduced it with: "Here's a brand new one from Duncan Sheik." I mean, the song has been out for two months now! Think of how funny it will be if "On A High" becomes the No. 1 hit of next year. Mike IP: Logged |

That's exactly what happened with Barely Breathing! I hope it happens again . . . incidentally, "On A High" just hit #1 at Louisville, KY's pop station. Duncan knocked out Justin Timberlake. Woo hoo! Nick IP: Logged |

Yea, I've been noticing they have been playin him a lot around here too. The past 2 days I have gotten in my car he's been on. It's so exciting! And they are like "Here is Duncan Sheik's new one, "On A High" for so and so." I'm glad people are liking his song! Jen ![]() IP: Logged |

I don't think that radio stations have a good concept of time. They call a song new for months, and forget that they just played that trendy hit song less than 30 minutes ago and replay it (you know, the one that gets stuck in your head no matter what you do)! That being said, I really do hope that Daylight produces many "hits". Not only will it make the radio worth listening to, but that Duncan will continue to amaze each of us (and many more) with his music. IP: Logged |

I havent been able to notice if "On A High" is being played more here in Nashville b/c I am always listening to his CD's and rarely have the radio on anymore, lol. I do recall hearing it more when I was listening on and off to the radio on Nashville's progressive radio station, but I'm not sure about the top 40 radio station-- maybe they are playing it I hope. I first heard the song in Lousville, Ky driving through (twice), so Louisville must be a big Duncan fan. That's cool. IP: Logged |

Up here in Rochester NY it would be nice if Duncan even appeared on the radio stations. Bummer... it would be a breath of fresh air! Scott IP: Logged |

On a High's slowly gaining more radio play here, too. When it first came out I'd catch it maybe once a week and people would be calling in to ask who it was by. Now you can usually hear it every day, but it's still considered "brand new stuff from Duncan Sheik". IP: Logged |

I don't listen to the radio much, so I haven't noticed much change 'round here. I will say one thing though - they played "On a High" at the grocery store that I work at! That's something, isn't it? (Just like Lilili, I totally blocked everything out while the song played on the relatively faint loudspeaker - hope I didn't p*** my customers off too much!) ----------------------- Matthew M.
