People, please...Let's not encourage Mr. Sheik to that direction. I am trying to recover from the shock and it may take a while.

I really don't think Duncan's going to head in a direction where his music is going to be laced with expletives. For me, I don't think his use of the word "fucking" is going to set him on some seedy path to expletive heaven. He may use the occasional "bad" word, but I don't think he's going to make a habit of it.

I don't know how I missed this but whatever the case may be... this is funny as hell! I encourage cursing whenever possible (if appropriate, of course shaaaaaw! )

F bombs! I haven't heard that reference for fuck in a while. That's a riot...

As to how Duncan may be using it, think along the lines of Sarah McLachlan in "Building A Mystery" Cursing done with class.

Well, I haven't yet heard Duncan's stab at profane-lite lyricism (August 27 just won't come here soon enough, d***it! Sorry, now I did it), but, I must say, I felt kinda the same shock when I heard another alternative-rocking favorite of mine, Matthew Sweet, use the same expletive for the big single ("The Ugly Truth") off of his superb 1993 LP, "Altered Beast", and even greater shock when the song was reprised later on in the album ("Ugly Truth Rock"). "Twice on one album after nearly 7 years of squeaky-clean lyrics!", I thought to myself. And, considering that this is one of his most popular radio tunes (mostly college radio), I always fear that the casual listener (unfamiliar with Sweet's other fine work) may make unfair judgements on him apon this one song (which is still a great song, nonetheless).

Of course, I don't fear the same scenario if, by some reason, Duncan's "Good Morning" turns out to be a radio hit; certainly, most everyone is familiar with the relatively tame "Barely Breathing" and knows Duncan wouldn't make a habit out of his choice; of course, he very well could, and, again, that's his choice.

Anyways, I think Paul Simon's audience got a collective gasp when they heard him say 'crap' in "Kodachrome", and the same when Paul McCartney (circa Wings) said 'damn' in "With a Little Luck", so I think Duncan can pull it off just the same (and let's not forget about The Beatles' notorious "Why Don't We Do It in the Road").

Gee, I hope I'm not reading too much into this. It's only a word, for f***'s sake.

Oh s***, I did it again!

Just havin' fun {smiley face},
Matthew M.

"...And then you're ripped right out of
the ground like a f***** root..."
- "The Ugly Truth"
