Ok before I know that "for" was only a tentative name for the album... but i wonder why the choice and change to "daylight". Anyone care to speculate?

The only thing I can think of is that ''Daylight'' would be a less difficult title to sell. For example, say that Duncan is invited onto a late night talk show and the host would say, ''and now, ladies and gentleman, a fine young artist performing a track from his new album, 'For:'...Duncan Sheik!'', and the audience might go, ''huh? for what? for who?''. Dunno, just a guess.

Atlantic may have made him change it to Daylight. It may be easier to market.

Its hard to say in all honesty. Marketing may have been a problem, or perhaps Duncan and company felt "Daylight" was a better title than "For." Personally, I didn't like "For" as a title. I thought Duncan was being too slick. On the other hand, I think "Daylight" is a better title.

I agree with that last part about "for" sounding a bit on the slick side.

Daylight sounds good to me. I really liked For: also. I guess I would have to hear the album to determine which was the best title.

October eh? Yeah yeah. You tell me that now. Tease me will you. Oct turns into nov. Then the snow starts melting from the trees and I start shedding and developing strange rashes and my eyes get bloodshot due to Lackus Duncanness. Or maybe I shouldnt eat the shrimp.

Maybe the recording of the album has become such a long and arduous process that Duncan can't wait for it to see Daylight. I mean that in no negative way at all.

maybe "FOR" got cancelled because of so many albums made by other groups that use "four" as a title.... maybe he sought originality instead of a humdrum homonym....

although, I liked "for", too...

Personally, I prefer FOR to Daylight. (is it For or For:?) Daylight is a nice word and it reminds us of him, but FOR as a title is pure originality. No one has never thought of that.

Who cares about the title as long as the artist is Duncan Sheik?

probably there is a song that mentions daylight... like "humming" is a lyric in "in between" and "phantom moon" is a lyric in "the winds that blow"... and maybe "daylight" is befitting of this particular album of songs, more so than "for:"

Well it is just something to talk about while we are waiting, oh so very patiently for the record to come out.

Daylight sounds like an interesting title.
I've been wondering how much 9-11 would influence Duncan's music. Has anyone heard or read anything Duncan may have said about living so close? As dark as most of Duncan's music is, I'm hoping "Daylight" will have some very powerful lyrics.
