Hey Hey! I'm not sure if this was already mentioned, but there is an interesting article in the August 2001 issue of Spin Magazine. I'll post the part with Duncan: *THE BOYS OF SUMMER* ... The fight isn't necessarily a scramble to the top of the charts, but not everyone has to be David Gray. *Duncan Sheik*, who released Phantom Moon- the spare, ethereal album of his dreams-on the avant adult contemporary label Nonesuch in March, feels blessed by his combination of the modest success and solid label support. "With my first Atlantic Album," he recalls, "part of me thought I would sell millions of copies and change the world. Another part of me said, 'I'm gonna sell 2,000 copies to my friends and die in a garret.' It's actually been somewhere in between, which is a safe place for me." There aren't any pictures of the Duncster... just one of Rufus Wainwright (love him) and Jude. Enjoy! Maria IP: Logged |

Springroz* Here's what it said about Jude: "... The time is ripe for the cultural pendulum to swing toward more song-minded artists like Gray andd Jude, the Maverick Records contender whose upcoming third album, King Of Yesterday, alternates between poppy radio-ready tunes and tradional singer/songwriter moments." "Doesn't everyone hear at their high school graduation speech that 80 percent of success is luck and timing?" said Jude. "Sure, the business is daunting, but when you first start out, you're coming from a more pure place. All the harsh realities existed in the past too- it's just that your manager and friends don't tell you about them. None of it is going to keep you from writing songs."

I had no idea Jude had other albums!! I only have one and love it to death. I got it after I heard his song on "City of Angels" soundtrack. I found it on sale at the Independant by my school. Just browsing and found it by accident. So what is the other album (gosh, I hope I don't get in trouble for going off the Duncan topic..)? When's the next coming out? IP: Logged |
