In a recent post titled Trip to Japan... Hummingbird posted something that has stuck with me for a while. She said that she was really happy to have Duncan and Gerry in her home, she meant Japan, but I thought that was really beautiful. Being able to have Duncan and Gerry in my home is what makes his music special for me (thats why her comment stuck with me.) His words flow through my consciousness and his music envelops my being everytime I put a cd in. My question is, why or what makes the music of Duncan Sheik special to you personally? Much love and aloha~ Molly IP: Logged |

Molly - I know just what you mean when you say that 'his words flow through my consciousness and his music envelops my being'. What makes Duncan's music special to me personally is that it has such a familiarity to it almost to the point I would think I'd heard it in another life, almost like something from a dream. When I hear his music, the words flow through my heart and the melody speaks to my soul in a way that no other music could and just for the moment however long I listen I am totally lost in the song and taken by it's beauty. His music has such emotion and depth to it that I can really relate to.His music is also very real in terms that it has such truth and meaning to it...something you don't often find.I guess I would say I have a real appreciation for things that are true and honest and real. Would have to agree with you on those thoughts. Once Duncan's music enters your soul, it does not leave and it leaves you ever so much more able to see things clearly and beautiful in this world of ours. I wish I was in Tokyo, Japan today. IP: Logged |

okay at the risk of sounding like an obsessed fool (look at the sunglass wearing icon, I'm being shy), I will answer this great question. duncan's music touches my very essence, the energy that doesn't change, what makes me who I am, but still remains a mystery. Music is probably one of the most important things in my life. I've listened to all kinds of artists and not one has affected me like him. Putting on one of his cds brings effortless joy. I radiate, dream, swim, cry, dance, laugh, love, create, feed, grow, and merge with his music. The notes he sing tell me its alright. best wishes, IP: Logged |

Thank you so much guys for sharing. If only Duncan knew what an awesome group of fans he has. Everything that you wrote was beautiful. But then, that is what his music inspires in us. I just saw him live and I cried the whole time. His music does that to me. Feel free to share more, I love reading all that you have to write. Much love and aloha~ Molly IP: Logged |

I can't really specify, what exactly is so special and great about his music... I mean it's the whole thing, that touches me and gives me a warm welcome over and over again. You know, I can try to grab the beautiful thing in this music, but it always slips away, but whne you look arround, you suddenly see that those magic moments surround you... I hope you understand, what I want to say! IP: Logged |
