Hey! Yep, that song is undoubtedly about Jeff and his untimely death. It was that partiular song that encouraged me to purchase GRACE. Now I'm a Jeff *fanatic*... His music is absolutley amazing. My favorite line in A Body Goes Down: "Of course there is Grace, *Those of the words to the best of my knowledge... the idea is the same though Hope this helps! *Maria* "My fading voice sings of love"--J. Well, listened to parts of "Grace" last night, couldn't listen to it all straight through, but parts of all of it. (Because it was very late) but I was totally blown away. What a talent!!!!! A genius so it appears. It's so very sad that he has left us in the worldly sense. Ken-you are so very lucky to have seen him. I must mention that without Matt's presence, this musical work would not have been nearly as Powerful as it is. Matt, is one of the very best drummers around. Duncan made a wise choice in Matt. His drumming talent really can be heard and shines ever so brightly on "Grace." Here's to you Jeff in spirit and soul, thank you ever so much. We miss you! Jeff Buckley is pure Soul. He has so much spirit and soul, enough to transcend over and over again throughout this universe. It appears that Jeff made peace with himself before his untimely death. What a flower blossoming before us........... IP: Logged |

This has to be the best tribute song I've ever heard anyone do for somebody else. (I'm sorry but that Puff Daddy song for Biggie Smalls, which uses The Police's "Every Breathe You Take" is the worst tribute I've ever heard.) Even the music is undoubtly Jeff Buckley's style. I love it! Oh and the reference to Orpheus is so right on! In case, anyone doesn't know, Orpheus was a man who's voice would bring the world to him, all of nature turned to hear him, animals came from everywhere and the trees would tilt in his direction. *Amy IP: Logged |

well, I thought I might get in on this discussion. I agree with what was said about this song and about Jeff. It is a wonderful tribute song (much better than P.Diddy Puff songs). There's another song, though, that I think is just fabulous, and I heard it was about Jeff as well. Chris Cornell (former frontman for Soundgarden) had a solo album that came out maybe a year ago, and the song "Wave GoodBye" is supposedly about Jeff. (is that the name of the song?...Well, it's something like that..) Anyway, I think the CD is great. "Euphoria Morning" is the name. I like it much better than the Soundgarden stuff I've heard. -Stephanie IP: Logged |

At the risk of sounding totally ignorant, I would very much appreciate someone telling me something about Jeff Buckley. I had read that one of the songs on "Humming" was a tribute to him by Duncan, which y'all seem to know about. I unfortunately am not familiar with who Jeff was. What age was he, what type of music did he play, did he sing, what instrument did he play, and how did his untimely death occur and when? I am curious about him now that I've heard the glowing opinions I have read on the message board. I am inclined to buy one of his albums. How many did he put out and which one do you think is the best to start with? "Grace" maybe? Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Robin IP: Logged |

Hi, Robin! First off, you do not sound ignorant at all. Just realizing how much Jeff's music has affected us, is wonderful. I don't know enough, to write out a mini-biograpghy on him but I'll try to describe him as best as I can. His amazing feature was his voice, absolutlety one of the the most beautiful and espressive, I've ever heard. Matt Johnson, the drummer currently working with Duncan, played in Jeff's band. I guess you would find him in the pop category. He had one song that I know of constantlty playing on the radio called "Last Goodbye". He definetly was a lot more experimental than your typical radio friendly pop artist. He played guitar and piano definetly, probably other instruments too. Unfortunately, "Grace" is the only album that was put out before he died tragically by drowning. I'm not sure exactly how old he was but I know he was in his late 20's. Jeff Buckley's mother and Chris Cornell (of Soundgarden) help put together "Songs For My Sweetheart The Drunk", the next album him and the band were working on. It's a double disc cd of raw material by, Jeff alone. Recently, "Mystery White Boy" a live disc from various concerts, was released. I believe you should go out and buy "Grace" first since it was his first and only actual album. I guarantee that you will love him. Jeff's music was a gift of soul and passion. I hope, I helped. Hey Amy, I want to thank you so very much for taking the time to explain to me who Jeff Buckley was and to share your knowledge of his talents and music. I did find a little biographical information on the internet about him as well and he does sound amazing. I want to hear what his voice sounded like, so I am going to get his Grace CD. What a shame that he died at such a young age. Doesn't it always seem as though the truly gifted people in the world are taken from us way too soon? Thanks again for responding to my letter. I really do appreciate your thoughtfulness. Robin IP: Logged |

I would have to say that "Sketches," first CD of the set is my absolute favorite right now. I just cannot get enough of it.(In every sense of the word) There is such diversity and such magnificent talent in the late Jeff Buckley. He was truly one of the very Best Artist's of all time. IP: Logged |
