Everyone, post the title of your favorite song from the "Humming" album. "Foreshadowing" moves me to tears every time I hear it. *Courtney* IP: Logged |

Forshadowing is my favorite as well, well, one of two, I can never pick just one...Isn't it interesting how forshadowing act almost like an introduction to what was coming with phantom moon? my other favorite, nichiren, is lyrically stunning...the lines about every holocaust not being written in stone but drawn in sand is amazing...funny how I could see nichiren and foreshadowning fitting right in with phantom moons other songs... kris IP: Logged |

Definitely, Alibi. "I want to be your alibi, 'till the day we die" Does it get better than that? IP: Logged |

I have a favorite song on the album at different times. It's like I rediscover a song or something. Right now I love House Full of Riches. I love the lyrics and the emotion that's put into the chorus. IP: Logged |

I agree... Foreshadowing by far touches me more than the other songs on Humming. And it is like a logical lead-in to Phantom Moon. IP: Logged |

My favorite is "Nothing Special" because I like the lyrics and the beat of the percussion. And doesn't "Everyone, Everywhere" remind you of "The End of Outside?" Also, on Phantom Moon's "A Mirror in the Heart," the last lyric includes everyone — just as Duncan sang it in "Eveyone, Everywhere." I had just thought that that was interesting. I can't wait to see what else Duncan has coming. —Mark IP: Logged |

"In Between" and "Everyone, Everywhere" are my favorites from this album. The first for the fantastic melodies and contrasts between violin, bassoon, cello, and flute, not to mention the fun imagery of running fingers through hair. "Everyone, Everywhere" features the kind of sound and sensation that brings back flashing memories of past romance and/or innocence. That happened to me while driving and listening to the song once- luckily I didn't run into anybody ![]() IP: Logged |

By far "Foreshadowing" is my favorite. Cool guitar tuning and chord voices, awesome ambient guitar by "Spooky Ghost" Gerry Leonard, smooth Duncan baritone, it doesn't get better. -Aaron IP: Logged |

Foreshadowing, without a doubt. Great guitar, very inventive with great low-end and high-end action. IP: Logged |

this is still my favorite cd of the three, and it's hard to choose just one song. i would probably have to say rubbed out though because of the third minute of the song. if you don't know what i'm talking about, go put it in and forward to about 2:58 and just listen. it's beautiful. "Foreshadowing" is my favorite. I am not sure if that is the title, but it is the acoustic hidden track at the end of the album. It is sooooo great. My second favorite is "Varying Degrees of Con-Artistry." ![]() IP: Logged |

I gotta say that my two favorites are Foreshadowing and Nothing Special. It's hard to just pick ONE. I was listening to the album, trying to find a favorite, and to me it's almost impossible. The lyrics in those two songs are incredible and the instrumentation is superb! -nicole- IP: Logged |

I definately believe "Foreshadowing" moves me the most when I listen to it, but "That Says It All" hits home the most. You pose a tough question. Duncan is so talented, I really can't have a true favorite. I'll have to go listen to it more.....oh darn. LOL IP: Logged |

Well, my fave track(s) on this album (I can't pick just one... hehe) would have to be Foreshadowing. I love the heartbeat, the lyrics and the soothing tone to the song... And That Says It All and Alibi... a lovely love song... IP: Logged |

I'm a Jeff Buckley fan as well as a Sheik Freak (although duncan is my fav) but I have to give the man credit for what he did in a body goes down... it's a sad requiem for the late Jeff Buckley. Sincerely and with Love to all the Sheik Freaks, Jeffrey Osborn, IP: Logged |

I'd have to say House Full of Riches, but the song that I'm constantly humming is Nichiren. Don't know why, out of all the songs, but it really is an interesting song. IP: Logged |

I would probably say Alibi or Foreshadowing, I love them all, but I think I like both the lyrics and the tune on both of those the best. I'll probably change my mind later, but rather than editing my message, like a certain someone (Freak vox, this would be you!) I will not delete it or edit it, I will just add another post instead IP: Logged |

Definatley, without a doubt, "In Between." The lyrics ("I'm so much better when you run your fingers through my hair, humming like the air. I wish that I could hold you, I'm sorry if I seem . . . so in between." WOW!) coupled with the amazing orchestral movments make this hands down the most beuatiful song I've ever heard. The song is just flat out beautiful IP: Logged |

It is impossible for me to pick a favorite from Humming. However, Angie, I know what you're talking about in the song, "Rubbed Out." I love the Pat Metheny-ish bridge in the middle of that song...it is awesome. I am no music expert, so I hope the correct term for that is bridge...if it's not, you guys know what I mean! I also love the way "House Full of Riches" builds up to such a dramatic crescendo. And I would be remiss if didn't mention "Everyone, Everywhere". That is such an incredible song. I love the line, "perfect nature, deepest wisdom lies within everyone". What a powerful, affirming sentiment, and it is one that I believe to be true--IF everyone takes the time to learn and discover it within himself or herself. IP: Logged |

It made me nearly forget the first one, this album did. I love "In Between", "Alibi", "Bite Your Tongue", "House"...What am I saying? I love every song! Every single one! The one I like the least is "Rubbed Out", but that has been growing on me...-Steph IP: Logged |

It's sort of a three-way tie. First there's "In Between", I love the lyrics and the flute. Then there's "Alibi" for, "the us against the world" feel. Finally, "Foreshadowing", it feels like Duncan is actually in my room singing, every time I hear this song. cheerio, IP: Logged |

Angie and Sherunsaway - I am a musician and I believe I know what section you are referring to in Rubbed Out - every time I hear it I believe it's the most beautiful musical resolution I've heard... Though my college music theory is now foggy -music can be generalized by letters: A for verses, B for chorus - so sometimes songs go A to B to A, etc. A bridge like the one in Rubbed Out: "Some time, ago, I thought that she was trying to move on, I thought...WRONG can be called a C riff (doesn't recur in the piece). Musically it resolves into a slam-dunk 7th chord right before he sings "wrong" and every time I hear it my own musical ear falls in love with it...7th chords are complex (especially when inverted) and lush and very pleasing to the ear - Duncan uses them a lot. Others? In Between...well I'll just say it's so nice to be entertained with challenging musical progressions along WITH the PLUS of the most beautiful male voice I've ever heard. IP: Logged |

I love all the songs from Humming, but Rubbed Out was my favorite the first week I bought the CD. It reminds me of me. The way Duncan sings "wrong" can take you places you want to go,(you know what I mean, don't you?) but, you know, the more I listen to Hummings, my favorite changes. Alibi was my favorite a couple of days ago, but today is House Full of Riches. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? I'm thinking VDOCA. I cannot get enough of the CD. thanks Duncan IP: Logged |

Let me start by agreeing with the Wolf--Duncan has the most beautiful male voice. As for my favorite song, I have to go with Foreshadowing. It is a lullabye that is both longing and comfort at the same time. Peace, IP: Logged |

I agree with Sierra1, every song in the album is exceptional, but I guess if I had to choose, id say its a tie between "rubbed out" and the somewhat "hidden" track that begins about 6 minutes into the "Nichireri" song. IP: Logged |
