I remember seeing it on the Japanese version of Humming. Not sure if it's on any other versions.

eBay is always a place you could try for rare releases.

A friend of mine who worked at a record store gave me Humming for Christmas. It was an advanced copy that the stores get and it had absence '98 on it. I think I've seen it like on Amazon for twice the amount of the regular cd. I always wondered why it wasn't offered on all cd's. Actually, not until recently did I know it wasn't offered on all cd's.

While I'm not sure it's available anymore, you can find "Absence '98" on the import single for "Bite Your Tongue." Plus you also get "Varying Degrees Of Con-Artistry (In The Living Room - The Lost Master Mix)" which is a nice stripped-down version... VERY different without the string section.
Still waiting for Duncan to release enough non-album stuff to fill up my "Rarities Vol. 2" collection, since "Rarities 1" got finished before this single was released... Maybe some more solo covers a la the "Humming Along" EP??

Yes it's available on the Australian import of Humming. For those who haven't heard it, it's not bad, I don't have a preference either way. It was also on my copy of the BYT single (I think that was the one). But i bought both 18 months ago so you might be hard pushed obtaining it now. Still if you're keen you could always try buying it online from Australian CD chains Sanity www.sanity.com.au - they are pretty good. either that or try the Aussie arm of HMV - www.hmv.com.au
