Humming is one of those overlooked gems. I tuned into it at a listening station one day, found myself glued to the CD, and went and purchased it on the spot. Of particular note is Duncan's ode to Jeff Buckley "A Body Goes Down". This is a CD of many moods and is full of graceful, well thought out music. It's too bad that this CD was released so soon after his first since radio was still playing Barely Breathing at the time.

I'm going to have to agree with you on that one. I normally have to borrow a CD from my friends and listen to it a few times before I decide if I like it... But this one I picked up after hearing 2 songs in the store... That's the only CD that's ever done that to me! It's one of my favorites:)

I must agree, Humming I feel is one of my favorite albums. I too heard Duncan on WXRT in Chicago 2 1/2 years ago and he played 2 songs in studio, I heard about the concert at the Park West, and went out and bought the CD and concert tickets the next day. I've been a big fan ever since. After I bought Humming, then I bought the first Duncan Sheik, they are both great listening.

I too, agree. I was at a dinner party and heard Alibi (at the time I had no clue the name or who sang it) I immediately made everyone around me stop talking, found the host, convinced him to letting me borrow it for the night, and have been in love with the CD ever since. Yes, I did give it back...after about a week of non-stop playing. It is a very beautiful, well thought album. The music is soothing and the lyrics are brilliant. It never leaves my CD player, neither do 1 and 3 either.

I've been to four different stores and I can't find Humming. Does anyone know who might still have it or where I can order it?

I finally got the Humming cd today (from ebay) and I love it! It is not as dark as Phantom Moon but I'll have to play it a few more times before I'll know if I like it more than Duncan's first cd. So my first experience with ebay was pretty good, now I just need the A Mirror in the Heart remix that I ordered and I'll be happy.

Thanks Julie. I love the acoustic guitar which is just beautiful in this song. I think Duncan and Edwin McCain are two of the best acoustic players around.

that hidden track is one of my favorites of the album! That whole album is pretty incredible...as for great acoustic players, you should check out mark eitzel's 60 watt silver lining (or songs of love live, but that's hard to find), or early bruce cockburn or david baerwald's first album (bedtime stories), or, god, stop me...
