hey d - wow. last night was so amazing. I didn't think PG could just power it out like that, but he did.... you could tell his voice is suffering from touring, but he still did a strong performance and belted out notes where they needed belting.... more energy from the D.C. crowd than I expected.... they were totally dancing and jamming to both the Blind Boys of Alabama and Dr. Zwiwase and his son Charles.... I didn't expect that reponse from the conservative D.C. crowd....I don't know if my subject heading - that D.C. topped Philly - is true because of PG's performance or because of the crowd's response.... the energy was just out of control, though - everyone dancing - everyone singing the lyrics to almost EVERY song.... pretty surprising w/the new album.... it was fantastic. Red Rain had more energy - much dancing - sounded GREAT. The Barry Williams Show staging went a bit more smoothly, but the camera thing he was doing was still distracting.... fun, though. "In your eyes" was just so powerful.... And an old song - animal magic - that he did with the Dr. and Charles - was fun at the end.... Not much else to tell - same song lineup, except the second encore song was Come Talk to Me.... he said that this country is in a position to make such a difference in the world, and (paraphrasing) - instead of war, we should be saying "come talk to me".... of course - you're in D.C. - you HAVE to make some sort of political statement, right? I'm SO glad I saw two shows....because after Philly, I was itching for more, and last night was just what I needed.... I really hope you get to check him out while he's touring. have a great thanksgiving. cheers - r [This message has been edited by rochelle (edited November 25, 2002).] IP: Logged |
