Okay, after listening to Daylight dozens of times, everytime I hear Memento, I feel like I'm listening to the soundtrack from one of those soft-porn movies that are on Showtime real late at night. It just has that eerie, dark-New York City-night thing going on in my mind. (you know, where the camera gives us the ground level image of an apartment building at night and then pans up the side of the building before switching over to an image inside)

Does anybody else get a bizzare feeling from this song or is it just me? Or maybe you all just think I'm a weirdo now. Either way, it was bugging me so I had to vent it.

I think Maybe you are watching a little too much soft porn (J.K.). Anyway, I don't get that feeling.

Which is more frightening, that I know what you are talking about as to the Showtime "after dark" vibe, or that I agree with you that Memento sounds like it belongs in there?

Sure it is Calvin, I believe you. I can see you now starting your own Showtime after dark show, called "Get a Piece Theatre." Calvin will come on (you can make your own jokes here) and say, "Tonight on 'Get a Piece Theatre,' we take a hard look at soft porn."

Seriously though, "Memento" does have a late night New York City feel (again, you can make your own jokes here) to it, although I never really thought of the song as incidental music for a soft-core porn movie. Now that Calvin has mentioned it, I'll never look at "Memento" in the same way again.

"Memento" is now Calvin's memento to us all of his late nights spent watching soft-porn on Showtime, even though he now doesn't have cable.

Richard

P.S.: I'm just messing with you, Calvin. I hope you don't take any of this personally.

Hahaha. Yeah thats okay Richard, I'm a college guy so I'm used to constant sexual jokes made at my expense, no skin off my back. Thanks for your comment, I got a kick out of it.

Hahaha... soft porn.... Can't you boys think of anything else Besides.. it is a very melow NYC night thing... I think it has to do with the Upright bass on the bass line.

I don't know if someone say it, or I've been thinking it all along but "Momento" reminds me of this painting. I don't know the name of it, but it's a night scene, an open cafe-type scene, with a man (I think he's alone) sitting at the counter.
lol...yea I think someone said this before,
doesn't anyone know what painting I'm talking about?

Ha, it just came to me, it's a painting by Ed Hopper, entitled "Nighthawks."

Actually, my friend and I were just listening to that song the other day and I told her I thought it ought to be on a scary movie soundtrack- it would be perfect for a scene where someone is lurking around or something. I hadn't really thought about Porn though, but it's nice to know that I am not the only one with an overactive imagination. Hah!

I do get that leery, be cautious feeling, but I don't get the soft porn feeling. I could find the song a bit eery but not to the extent of anything more.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh you giggled me there Calvin. I thought I was the only one! It does have a very "sensual" feel about it. That whole line about "she smiles, she seems so tired, so nothing is required..." It's kinda obvious to me that it was a hit and run type deal there. I guess you get philosophical after such a thing?

Just for this thread, I'm going to listen to "Memento" right now. and I have seen porn and believe me, it gets boring after about 5 minutes. The rest of the time you wonder how bored these poor porn stars must be.
