Well, I guess this is a fairly predictable topic, but nevertheless, its still a good one

I think my fav is Start Again, though I think that on a whole, almost every song is awesome

This is tough...I really do love every song on the CD, so maybe I can narrow it down to a few.
Start Again
Shine Inside
Such Reveries

This is too hard to do because there isn't a song on Daylight that I don't like.

I think that 'Daylight' is a perfect albumn. My favorite song though would have to be 'Genius'. It really hits home for me. My runners-up would are 'On Her Mind' and 'Chimera'. Great work Duncan ! I can't wait for the tour!!!!

well, there were a few ways. first way was through amazon.com preorder. second way was through netscape/aol album preview. third way was through my website where I distributed the files after being given them by a friend We've had the files since August 2nd actually.

I am completely in love with the entire album but a few songs when I first heard them I nearly melted away.
Half-Life Oh my God what an awesome song... I love the verse "Wake me, I wanna see the daylight, save me from this half life, let's you and I escape, escape from time

Start Again instantly captivated me.The music and the words really speak to me.

When I heard the orchestra sound of Shine Inside I knew I was in love.It resembled the sound of a few songs on his first album. I love the spirit of this song!
I love the hidden track as well it has a mysterious sound that's very soothing.

When I play the CD it fills the room with such a magical warmth - I just can't help but smile

Listening to the CD at last, I've got a new favorite every five minutes, they're all so delicious! Right now I'd have to say Shine Inside...can't wipe the smile off my face when that song's playing!

I'm digging On Her Mind right now, just because I think that's the mood I'm in. What I can say about this CD is I have again fallen in love with this guy's music. It is a great album. Yes, more consumable by a more general public. I have a feeling this will put Duncan in touch with a lot more people again. Good for him...Cheers.

Well to echo everyone else-the entire album is amazing. My favorites would have to be "half life" "for you" and "such reveries" Reveries really spoke to me-it was like he was reading my mind! Oh-and what do you think of the hidden track? Very intersting and different for Duncan-I love it!

Well, like everyone else has stated - it is all so very, very good that I don't believe I could pick a particular favorite!
I think Magazines is really interesting musically. Good Morning! is very interesting lyrically - even if I have to run and turn the stereo down quickly during the bridge if my kid is around...

His voice sounds stronger than ever and his lyrics clearly convey he is a true resident of Tribeca, NYC. Call it his domain, flawed with all its trappings. ON A HIGH sounds even better than his appearance on Jay Leno. I hope it hits the charts.
#9 GOOD MORNING makes me laugh and appreciate Duncan even more. I strongly support anything Duncan produces. Take care everyone. David in Boston, MA

"On a high" is my favorite song. It just keeps playing in my head on and on is so refreshing. Next, "Shine Inside" a marvellous song. Can't wait to see Duncan in concert is going to be an amazing experience...once again.

Hi all, I'm a first-time poster, LONG-time fan...

My favorite song on Daylight is "Such Reveries." Musically, the song is just beautiful - gorgeous melody, strings (cello, I think) providing a moody counterpart - I've always loved the string arrangements in Duncan's music.

But it was the lyrics that threw me for a loop, esp. upon the first listen. The beginning of the song describes what sounds like remembrances from times with a lover, then...it twists the point of view 180 degrees. It's haunting, sad...and gorgeous.

It's Duncan's -sound- that resonates with me. That quality that threads through all of his music such that despite the various styles and influence, even without hearing his voice, you can instantly identify the music as Duncan Sheik.

My favorite track is Memento - reminds me vaguely of some of Sting's stuff with a dreamy bossa nova hint - a quiet evening drive along the coast with the top down, this is!

Next are Half-life and On A High, followed by On Her Mind. Still and all, a fantastic album! thanks!

I still can't pick a favorite. This is the first album in a very long time where all of the songs are great!! It's nice to be able to put down the remote control for the CD player, and leave winamp on play all

My favorite is definitely "For You" because I want a man to write a song like that for me.

I really like the way "On a High" and "Magazines" flow into "For You" also. We can all be cynical and perverted at times, but deep down, we all want that pure kind of love that cures us of all that. (Please excuse me gross over-simplification, but you get my point.)

I would have yo say, that it is a total toss up for Hlaf life, and Magazines. Magazines was not one of my favs right away but for some reason i like it more and more every time i listen to the CD. It has not left my CD player since i picked it up on the tues morning it was released. Some of my friends D/L it off of the net and i yelled at them and got mad, i told them we HAVE TO BUY HIS ALBUM TO SUPPORT HIM. That way he can make MORE cd's!!!

They are all very good, but if I had to make a top 5 they would probably be:

5)On Her Mind
4)Genius
3)Such Reveries
2)On A High
1)Half Life

But this is only because I was forced by microwavable Marxists to choose 5. I really like the whole cd. VIVA LA KUMQUAT!

Clearly "Magazines"! With this song, Duncan has proved himself a master of the sonic texture, rivaling Ken Rubenstein, Laurie Anderson, Suddenly Tammy!, and the Mistress, Herself... Kate Bush!! I'm not sure if what's going on in the background are loops or just Duncan's signature echo-drenched, barely distorted slide guitar (does anyone know if Duncan plays those slide parts himself)? Also (as I mentioned in another post) I think that Duncan reveals his most impressive lyrical alchemy in the line, "I wondered if I would be punished for my voyeuristic pleasure". Absolutely gorgeous wordplay!!! I also wonder if the text of the tune is a true story or just an exercise in creating an interesting story setting. "For You", on a purely musical level is very satisfying, if for no other reason than the 3/4 to 4/4 shifts in time. Duncan is proving himself to be a figure every bit as important to pop/rock songwriting as John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley, Tori Amos, and Curt Kobain!
