Selecting one song from this connected, flowing masterpiece is oh so hard, but I do believe A mirror in the Heart is one of the catchiest songs I have EVER heard. I have a lot of musical influences, but I am recording my first CD(in my home studio for now), and Phantom Moon is the guide I am using for everything a CD could be. I can think of no higher compliment to give. The story, the musicianship, the passion, the beautiful sadness, the comforting solace, I could go on and on about everything that moves me so deeply. I told a friend of mine that I believe the function of an artist is to reveal more of the passionate majesty of the universe. Phantom Moon has revealed more to me of truth and beauty, shadow and light, longing and love, than I had previously seen, and I am overflowing with joy and gratitude for this masterpiece.

The imagery this song gives me is that of someone slow dancing alone, arms outstretched hugging an empty memory.

Any other reactions?

I see a man walking through a crowd with a magic mirror, stopping people to show them their souls (my cinematographer's mind... yeesh).

Yes, I agree. The first time I heard it I love it the first few seconds & then the music shifts & it has a hook & I just really start to vibe with it.

Nathalie, I'm there with ya. I haven't heard anything but BB on the radio here. But I agree with everyone, that A mirror in the heart is a truly beuatiful and moving song. One of the best on Phantom Moon, in my opinion.

Is there anywhere on the 'net where the radio edit can be heard? I know the pathetic radio stations in my area (north FL) will not be playing anything of this quality.

Yeah, I haven't heard it on the radio here either. I listen to the Brown University station alot and you think they might help out a fellow alum. well, I guess Duncan isn't "modern rock"? Well, I don't know. Maybe I just happened to miss it when they play it. I do only seem to hear "Barely Breathing". I never even hear "She Run's Away". There must be room for all those TRL type artists that they play 80 times a day.Has anyone figured out how to play "A Mirror in the Heart"? I've been fiddling with for a bit but I can't figure out some of it. Well thanks and take care

i just got my single in the mail from ebay. wee! but i don't really like the radio edit. there's too much going on. all the added music makes the song drag. and one of the guitars sounds hawaiian. it doesn't fit. i don't know. it's growing on me. but i think the album version is absolutely perfect. it starts out acoustic and gradually builds with piano and percussion. it's so light sounding. it flows. every time i hear it, i have to stop what i'm doing and smile. then i bust out singing. i lose four minutes of my life whenever it plays, but i don't regret it one bit. i think it's actually adding to my life. okay, that's just the way it makes me feel. my favorite part is when he sings "and there are golden whispers" and actually whispers the end of "whispers". oh my. like i said, it's perfect.

I think I printed out the tabs for A Mirror in the Heart from the main board on 4-25 but if you can't find it try this site. www.freespeech.org/jwhipp/mirror.txt

I am flattered you both liked what I had to say! I feel I am about one millionth as good as Steven and Duncan at expressing lyrical and musical ideas, but I am improving! At this rate, I should be nearly as good as the dynamic duo in only 7.2 thousand years, give or take a decade! Thanks for the compliments!

"A Mirror in the Heart" is a great song. It gets more and more powerful everytime I listen to it. It has so much to say and who better to sing it than Duncan with his passion and ideals.

This is a song of inner peace which we all can obtain. (But we must carefully look at ourselves)
