I cannot even begin to get my mind around how beautiful and consistently brilliant a songwriter Duncan Sheik is. From the moment I heard his sweet sweet voice (sweet sweet- I'm so unhip) sing those first three words I knew that this latest album would be as good if not better than the last two. Here's what truly makes me happy about Mr. Sheik's albums- you can put them on late at night and drift off to sleep and know that he's inviting in only the most wonderful comforting dreams your mind has to offer. It's like the combination of his melodies, tender voice, and touching lyrics (kudos to Steven Sater on the latest album) gently tap on doors in your mind that you'd forgotten about. Nicer spots in your mind than you usually tap into. I couldn't ever describe how spiritually satisfying and warming of the soul I find Duncan Sheik's music... But I suspect all the people who visit here will agree that the music is... maybe like... when you're floating on a raft in a lake and you drift past a spot of water that's been warmed by the sun. Duncan Sheik's music is like that sun spot. Almost makes me want to roll around on the floor and purr. It's late. I'm rambling. I love the new album. THANK YOU (with all of my heart) DUNCAN SHEIK. I send you much love in return for the love that you create in me.
