Amanda, just listen to the last song on the cd, then leave it on. The song will come on in a few minutes. It will start with a heartbeat. It's a very beautiful tune!

I just wanted to say that the new album is absolutely incredible, and that Duncan is an extremely talented musician (as I have had the honor of seeing him twice recently). The live shows are even better than the recordings...he puts on one hell of a performance. I think it was really cool of him to put the guitar tunings in the CD booklet also (even though after that, i still cant play a song off the album). I'm looking forward to new releases and more shows in the near future. You know, if I could ask him one more question, I'd really like to know where he gets the inspiration for his songs. They are musical masterpieces and poeticly second to none. I only wish I were as talented. -Jake

Hey everyone - just saw the post that Duncan was scheduled to play at Ironhorse in Northampton, MA in January?! I go to UMass, and I had no idea! To think I could have missed it... if anyone knows of anytime he'll be coming back, please e-mail me!! I've never had the pleasure of seeing Duncan in concert, unfortunately. Also, someone mentioned a hidden track on Humming, which I also didn't know about(I don't visit this site nearly as much as I should..) - if someone knows how to access it, please let me know. Thanks!! Amanda

*** Man, I never had an idea that I wasn't the only 'Sheik-freak'. To all his fans, stay stuck. To all his trashers, you guys are stupid! You should just look for other websites instead of spendin' yer time writing garbage here. DUNCAN... I AM REALLY, AS IN REALLY, NUTS ABOUT YOUR MUSIC. IT COULD REACH THOUSANDS OF FEET BELOW MY SOUL. I'M NUTS NOT ONLY WITH YOUR MUSIC, BUT WITH YOU AS WELL. I COULD SAY WITH ALL OF MY SANITY THAT YOU ARE GORGEOUS. YA KNOW WHAT? JUST A SIMPLE, 2-LETTER WORD SUCH AS "HI" FROM YOU ON MY ADDRESS WOULD REALLY MAKE ME SMASH THE FURNITURE 'ROUND ME.THAT'S HOW OBSESSED I AM. HOPE YA DON'T IGNORE US.

Right with you there on the trashing Duncan, the guy can't even spell the word toilet.... H

Larry Mullen (mullen@aol.com):
Yo what the hell is up with that post bashing Duncan. Yo are a schmuck for not putting a name or even an email address. Whoever you are, you are probably bogus. I dont really know why Duncan would "bash" you or anyone for that matter. You must have gotten Duncan confused with yourself when talking about going down the toilet. Whoever you are or like to think you are, didnt you ever learn that 2 wrongs dont make a right. As if he even reads this message board. You tool. You probably love Smashmouth and 3rd Eye Blind huh? You idiot.

Yasmin (YJR@Juno.com):
Dear Duncan - I hope you are reading all the postings of late, and realise it is definitely time for some sort of major tour... and if you don't include PHOENIX I shall be personally wounded....

... (...):
Duncan, I understand you have a Mindspring net account now, I also understand you are talking trrash about me... funny, with your career going down hill, and your record sales in the tiolet (as anyone can see on the net) I would think you have better things to do than talk about others. Lucky you had everyone who worked for you sign papers not to trash you...that way people can't learn about the real you. Stick to chanting... talking about others can come back and bite you.

Hey Duncan, How goes? I'm from Toronto, Canada, and I've been wondering when you're going to bless you Torontonian fans with a concert. I'm dying to see you play live. Please consider a tour date in Toronto. Please????? JM P.S. I'd like to get me a copy of "Humming Along" but I couldn't find it anywhere. Please let me know how I could get hold of this EP of yours. I am itching to hear your renditions of "Blasphemous Rumours" and "Reel Around The Fountain" (one of my favorite Smiths ditties). That's it! Take care! More power!

Dear Duncan, I want to take this time to thank you on behalf of all your adoring fans who, like myself, probably can't get through the day without listening to at least one of your cd's in it's entirity. I have been a huge fan of yours for some time now and your music inspires me to strive for all that i want in life. Your profoundly real lyrics take me to a special place that can only be reached when your music is dominating the room i am in at the time. Keep up the good work! Anyone who gets any new info about Duncan please write me at my address shown. THANK YOU! One of your most inspired fans. VINNIE

Darianne Craven (D_anne_lee@yahoo.com):
Hello, I have been a loyal fan ever since the first album was released. Duncan is a superb songwriter and lyricist and believe that he should get more credit for his music than he is receiving. Duncan, if you are reading this particular message, you are an inspiration. Your music is absolutely wonderful and different. I had the pleasure of meeting him in Philadelphia in November and thought he was the nicest person. I hope you will return there as soon as possible and I look forward to seeing you in concert very soon! Thank you, Darianne.

I hope I'm not the only asian fan here, I like Duncan's music and I wish he could do an Asian tour, but for now, his videos are all I have, better than nothing.

Craig m (goat108@hotmail.com):
Duncan's videos also include She Runs Away, Wishful Thinking, and there is one other short one on Vh1's "Midnigt Minutes" i believe. Which pop-up video has barely breathing on it? i'd like to know, email me please (whoever knows) thanks. Craig M.

Jenny (radco444@gateway.net):
This is for Carli: Duncan's only videos are Bite Your Tongue and BB, but he has a new one coming out for that says it all, his new single. His songs don't get very much airplay because most people don't know who he is so there is no money in it. You are not alone, radio stations really need to start playing his stuff--I have yet to see or hear any of his stuff (other than BB on Pop Up Video).

Heather S. (0341019@sacredheart.edu):
I love Duncan's music and just missed a chance to see him live on 1/18/99. The show was cancelled for the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA. I was wondering if anyone knew whether Duncan was coming back to Massachusetts or Connecticut? Thank you Duncan for playing your fabulous music. It never fails to erase the stress from my life, Thanks again. -Heather

Hi- Why can't I ever catch Duncan's videos (Bite Your Tongue and In Between) from Humming on MTV, or anywhere? I've seen them on the 'net, and even at record stores, but nowhere else. I can't believe that these songs aren't even getting any radio airplay (here, at least)! Is it true that he's redoing Bite Your Tongue and putting it out as a single? thanks- carli

Hi. This note is for Chris. Duncan is a Buddhist and he has done quite a bit of reading on the subject as well. He follows the Nichrien (like the song) philosophy. Hope this helped. San

I recently got "humming" on the advice of a friend. the music and lyrics are exceptional. i was wondering if anyone knew whether duncan had done much reading in the areas of zen buddhism, jungian philosophy, or other related eastern philosophies. his lyrics certainly suggest that he has and that he holds an existentialist viewpoint on my aspects of living. like seal, the looks and guitar hooks attract the younger fans but the rich lyrics and intricate arrangments draw in the older folks like myself. it's refreshing to see someone who is not in the business for the quick buck. don't ever sell out, duncan. it'll rot your soul. thanx for sharing your gifts with us.

Ashley "Blair" Rogers (NYswinger2@aol.com):
Hello Duncan! My name is Ashley Rogers, and I have recently become a fan of yuors. I admit that I haven't heard all of your music, like most of your "dedicated" fans, yet I have thoroughly enjoyed what I HAVE heard. What turned me on to your music, wasn't actually your music at all! It was simply that 3-page article on you in InStyle last year. I am fourteen years old, have been playing the piano for 10 years, and am satarting to take guitar and vocals. I saw in the article I read that you currently reside in New York City. My ultimate dream that I have had for many years is to become a musician in New York City. Everyhthing about New York draws me there. Since I was 10, I have written my own piano/vocal music/songs. My heart lies in music, family, and friends. For the past few years I have undergone many medical issues between myself and other members of my family. I am currently a patient of Children's National, Georgetown, and Mount Vernon Hospitals in Virginia. Your music is so different fr anyone else's ina way that helps soothe me and forget about the troubles in which my family faces everyday. I just wanted to thank you for being such an inspiration, and I believe that by simply touching one life, you have made a huge difference in the way I look at the world. If yuo ever get the time, would you please respond to this letter at my screen name: NYswinger2@aol.com? Thanks you so much! Ashley*

Jenny...again (see below):
Sorry I didn't include this in my last post but I couldn't remember it for anything. To Mark, the name is Foreshadowing. Someone asked him at a concert and that is what he said. I hope this is not too much of a guess, but I don't remember the exact person who asked him. hope this helps.

Jenny (radco444@gateway.net):
To those who have made comments on calling fans donuts, although the name may be juvenile, many people who use it are not. As memory serves, the name was made up by an adult male who ran a record store that specialized in rare items. He is probably the most informed fan out there and actually has some contact with Duncan's management. He even told Duncan about the name and he thought it was cute. I'm not trying to convince you that the name is a good thing (I happen to think it is pretty stupid), but just because a person uses the nickname does not mean they don't appreciate his music or that they are "teeny-boppers". well, time for em to get off my soapbox. I just hate it when people act above others or think they know the right answer to everything. I'm not positive about every detail of my little story, but it was posted a while ago on the discuss list.

Date: Fri Feb 5 13:33
Huey (colombian@flc.net):
I agree with the previous post. The bad thing about attracting these teeny boppers (which I am sure he didnt intend on) is those stupid names. Calling him a donut really takes away from the seriousness of his music. Maybe some of you younger ladies should stick to the Backstreet Boys or Nsync. Please refrain from using those ridicoulous names. Regards, Huey

Mark Hartman (mark.hartman@erols.com):
First, for Jennifer from Georgia looking for the CD Maxi of Reasons for Living: Try www.cdconnection.com - that's where I got mine. Second, does anyone know the name of the hidden track on humming. I have the Japanese import of humming, so I'm not sure if the domestic version of humming has that information. No guesses please.

holly (khoagland@aol.com):
Please know that I am a huge fan with a great interest in the career of Duncan Sheik. But I am not, nor shall ever be , a "Donut". I just don't think he really appreciates the term. I could't help putting this out there, I'm not the only person that feels that way. No offense to you who think it's a cute nickname. I think he has the greatest name without the joke. Anyway, does anybody know WHEN the new video will air?? Please post the info if you hear!

Duncan-You rock my world! Your music is the soundtrack to my life. You are my dream date! I would trade in my soul to meet you. Everytime I listen to your dreamy songs, I feel like I'm on cloud nine. In fact, I dreamt about you last night, and I fell out of bed twice! Can you imagine that?

Ken Meyer Jr. (meyer@mill.net):
Duncan, Hey there, this is the guy who gave you the painting at the San Diego show. Give it to a relative yet? My wife and I were really impressed with the show, and with you as a person...keep it up. I've been listening to Humming almost nonstop. Bought Gerry's release as well (and Hooverphonic, great warm-up band!). Hope the painting still looks good to you, feel free to check out a site with a ton of my stuff at www.mediasi.com. Man, what a show! Ken Meyer Jr.

Stephanie (sprime@gateway.net):
Although I think that the new album is wonderful, I agree with the comment that you made regarding your namesake album! "It's the kind of record you put on late at night with the lights low..." Can't count how many times I've drifted off into the ethereal world of dreams listening to your voice and the intricate layerings of strings... Thanks for putting me to sleep! (I mean this in the best possible way!) Some other wonderful music for "setting the mood," lucidly floating, or just peacefully relaxing: ANY Idaho, (rather difficult to find, as most albums have been out of print for awhile...) Sarah Vaughn, "The Gershwin Songbook, vol.#2," and June of '44, "Four Great Points." Check these out if ever time permits! Congratulations on your success, and please keep up the passionate songwriting! Thanks, Sicerely, Stephanie

You are so unique. I hear new things in your music every time I listen.....you are complex, intriguing. I can't live without my Duncan CD's. Have you heard Jimmie Spheeris. He put out 4 album in the early 70's. Listen to them if you get a chance.

Humming is brilliant! Duncan is too -I'm totally disarmed by the musical candour - I am a TOTAL fan. Seems like he's a complete cut away from your average "rock-star" - intelligent, articulate, well-educated. Keep on charming us, Duncan....
