Rodolfo's best movies thread got me started thinking of the worst, because those of you who have been around forever (like me) know I see many movies hate 50% of them, and find 45% of them really horrible...So we must do worsts...

-Julien Donkey Boy (what the christ was this even about?)
-American Beauty
-Beautiful Creatures
- Consirpacy Theory
-The Net
-Dr. T and the Woman
-Sexy Beast
-Any of those mass produced, mass marketed Hollywood movies, with a fast food tie in...

okay you know I have many many more, but I will let someone else have a chance

(my comment in the begining about being around forever was not intended to offend anyone who has not, I just used to more frequently post mini-reviews on every movie I have seen, therefore they know how much I hate Hollywood)

God, there are so many bad movies around...don't know where to start!

Well, definetely "Titanic"...I think I was the only woman that didn't cry and couldn't wait till it was over!!

I'll think about some more and get right back to you...

No No No. You are all wrong.

First off, American Beauty is one of the best movies EVER. So I dont want to hear your lip missy! Kevin Spacey, Jenn!!!!

AND

Conspiracy Therory, The Net...yes bad movies, but the worse movie EVER? C'mon. Conspiracy Therory at least had Mel Gibson in it. So automatic points for having a good actor. It just sucked that he had bad material. And The Net gets points for having Dennis Miller in it. But thats it.

Titanic, again, overdone, overhyped, over everything. But it was decent!! C'mon. Leo isnt that bad of an actor. And Kate is good too (In Quills she rocked!). Id put Titanic in the Slightly above average catergory. Just see it once and forgetaboutit.

MI??!! You guys! Its Tom Cruise! I can think of 5 Cruise movies that are a million times worse the MI2!!

Worst Movie ever: Dancer in the Dark. It was just a smidge to the right of German film. The horror. The beginning is horrible. Almost Blair Witch in that type of Guerrila running around the parking lot type of stuff. Then as the movie progresses, (and you survive the strange music interludes) the camera is more still and by the time she is in jail, it is finally calm. But by that time your blood pressure is so high your vision is blurry and camera movement is the last thing you care about.

This movie was so bad, i watched it twice. Yes indeed. I was so angry and violent and just fuckibg PISSED i watched the dvd again, just to make sure that it was that bad. And luckily it was. And I am a Bjork fan! I guess not enough. And I love independent film. I do!

Another bad movie is Mafia! Horrible Horrible comedy. I walked out of the movie. The only movie I have ever walked out of.

Dancer in the Dark sucked so bad it created a vacuum in my living room and i just about lost consciousness on account of the resulting oxygen deprivation. The acting was sorta good but Bjork couldn't save the poor film from itself. (Though I will admit to bawling my eyes out about the evil ending.)

And I don't like the second Austin Powers movie. Some movies (ok, most movies) don't need a sequel.

::raises hand, and waves to Silvia:: OOOO! I didn't like Titanic either! It was freaking long, it was freaking sappy and I didn't like it. hehe. I was..um...cheering when whatever his name was fell off into the sea all frozen and stuff. That was excellent.

ok, bad movies. Well, I hated The Saint. There are not a lot of movies I hate, but that was one. I just thought it was stupid. Another was this kiddie movie called The Great Panda Adventure. Horrible. Just plain bad. Bad acting, and really bad special panda effects. My friends and I still talk about how bad it was.

I liked American Beauty. I'm still not sure what I think about Dancer in the Dark, but I was crying, so at least it got a reaction out of me. Effective if nothing else.

The Passions of Darkly Noon is the best and worst movie I have ever seen. Horrible because it didn't make any sense and kind of freaked me out. Awesome because there is just something funny about watching really awful movies sometimes. I'm not sure if many people have seen it. It comes on one of the 340934590 Encore channels occasionally, but usually late at night. As you can see from the time of my post, I stay up pretty late so I see some weird shizzat on TV. Anyway. The movie has Brendan Fraser and Ashley Judd. Brendan Fraser has just escaped from a commune or something and saw his parents brutally killed. He doesn't really speak, just grunts. He stumbles onto Ashley Judd's house in the woods. She lives there with her mute boyfriend. Blah blah blah, the movie goes on and includes Brendan Fraser collecting dead animals, wrapping himself in barbwire, talking to a crazy lady who lives in the woods, hallucinating, being covered in ants, and a family of carnies with a floating red shoe boat. The end.

I think it's called "The Lost Highway". That sucked bad and it wasn't long before the suggestion was made that ACID would have to be dropped for that load of shyte to be understood. Soooo, kay...no thanks!

Deuce Bigalow....disappointing
Bagger Vance....awful caddy movie w/W.Smith
Blood Simple....excellent Coen script, but you would never know by the way the movie was made, missed out some crucial bits and storyline was mucked.
Blair Witch....eeeek! twigs!! Arghh! rocks! Ruuunnnnnn!!

No, "Lost Highway" is strange and complicated, too, but it's not with Brendon Fraser or Ashley Judd. It's from David Lynch, starring Bill Pullman and Patricia Arquette. But I guess the ACID description fits here as well... but it's not a bad movie.

Six Degrees of Separation ... that was probably the worst movie I've ever seen.
Absolutely had no point whatsoever.

Another one is Being John Malkovich - I have to admit the first like 20 minutes or so was some what funny but the rest of it is just weird, stupid and leaves you wondering why you wasted hours of your life when you could have been doing something useful like watching grass grow.

I agree with springroz, american beauty is a really good movie...you just have to see the irony of it.

I actually liked being john malkovitch... but, yeah, it is weird

I understand if you didnt like Lost Highway. It is a Lynch film and none of them make sense. If you dont like one, then it is a good chance you would like any of them. He is a weird guy and all is films are bizzaro. I love them though. Acquired taste.
But the scene in Lost Highway with that guy's forehead in the table is great! That pan around was stellar.

Being John Malcovich was weird. Cool concept but I can see how the movie probably lost a lot of people. I just got a kick seeing Malcovich (one of the weirdest personalities out there) jump around.

Thank you Cici. Dancer in the Dark was horrible but it did have an effect on you. Maybe that was the Directors goal. I think people cry at the end of bad movies bc you have been with this character for 2 hrs and then suddenly the story rips them away. It still stucks. And so did the movie.
I hate it that the Director got on his high horse about capital punishment. C'mon already! After all that you are trying to tell me not to kill people. Great.

What kind of expectations did you have for Deuce Bigalow?

I saw Blair Witch when it first came out and everyone thought it was real tape and everyone thought these kids really died. So when I saw it, i thought it was cool. I can honestly say that I had never seen a movie done like that. So points for originally.

DISTURBING BEHAVIOUR - incredibly horrible, it seems to be directed by three different people from three different countrys and with three different scripts

CUTS - I guess that's the worst, I just can't believe it someone spent real money doing this crap. If you didn't watch it, it's a about a serial killer, like any other movie, but in the end they don't say why he killed everyone!!! I sincerely think it's a critic to those kind of movies. No one would ever do something like that purposely...

TOMB RAIDER - I guess someone kidnapped Angelina Jolie's mother to force her and her father to star this film.

A BEAUTIFUL MIND - bad movies are each day more difficul to tell. This ones tries to hide behind a "drama" label. Commercial and oscar-targeted, using a formula anyone can guess. They did bullshit with his disease, it's not like that. Same thing about the kidnapping with Russel Crowe and Jennifer Connely.

STAR WARS-EPISODE I - George Lucas, get a life

well,
i just posted my favorite movies under another topic-- now i get to vent! ANY jennifer lopez movie should be shipped straight to cable along with any movies made by former SNL cast members (with the exception of Wayne's World--that was actually funny)i love kevin spacey, so although i thought that american beauty was over-rated, it wasn't that bad of a movie.

on the subject of ms.lopez, i am hearing rumors that her and will smith are slated to star in a romantic comedy( is everyone cringing or is it just me?)

by the way, my roommate's boyfriend(who only likes stupid comedies and martial arts --jackie chan, steven seagal,jetli-- just bought "not another teen movie"--awful,awful,awful!!!! usually, no matter how bad a movie is, i'll at least sit through it...it was on my own tv set and i had to get up and walk away!! it was just wrong..thanks for letting me vent!

There's a reason I refused to watch Titanic and you've named it. It was completely hyped story about a ship that sinks. BIG DEAL!!! Pearl Harbor was also horrible!

Not Another Teen Movie was awful. My brother made me watch that with him and I still havent forgave him.

But I think we are even by now. Because I made him watch Muholland Dr. I actually bought the dvd bc again, i am a lynch. But I had no idea what I had gotten myself into. You never figure out what the jitterbug scene was about until the very end. And by that time you dont know if she is alive or dead, Insane or in a dream. I still dont know what excatly happeneded to her.
And what about that scene when the 2 girls go into that theature to see the opera. And it is an overdramatized show. Then the actress stops singing (but the music w/ vocals keeps playing overhead) and then she falls down. Ha! Classic Lynch.

I havent seen a Thin Red Line because it just doesnt look like my cup of tea. War movies are hard for me to get into. I heard Jim Cavisel was great in it. Someone described the movie as "a war movie done to the rhythm of poetry". She wasnt trying to overdramatize it. She said it just reminded her of poetry. So with that, i can see why that would be highly annoying.

Jet Li is a great actor and a fantastic martial artist. I love all his movies. And Jackie Chan isnt so bad either. Not my favorite, but not horrible. Segal on the other hand...

Charlie's Angels was pretty good. But you had to know what you were getting yourself into. 1. Take the original CA. There were all half retards. I dont expect the newer one to increase their IQ points. It was all about seeing cute girls fight. 2. The director was McG, a mtv video director. This man eats, sleeps, and dreams pop culture. The more colorful and glitzier the better

If you expected anything more than a 2 hr long pop video, then you were disappointed.

yesss that's it, Lynch's Lost Highway, way over my head or something. Easily to now explain why I was disappointed with Deuce Bigalow...he heh...umm, sometimes I rent movies just cuz I want to shut off on mindless droning slapstick-y humour....normally really stupid flicks are good for this; such as "Night at the Roxbury" or "There's Something About Mary"....I guessed I hoped that Deuce would be the same.

I also must admit that I felt kind of cheated thru "Groundhog Day"....all that film just being repeated over and over and over LOL

OK, I will give Blair Witch points for marketing value. I saw it during the hype too but the only thing that was really disturbing was the dirty little handprints at the end, I kind of sussed it when they "interviewed" the crazy woman.

From Dusk till Dawn. I just could not stand the excessive vulgarity and plotlessness of the movie. I have never had such feelings of hostility and anger toward a movie like I have for this movie. And for the record I like(d) Titanic, American Beauty, Dancer in The dark, and The Net

The Thin Red Line was fantastic to me- mostly Caviezel's performance. Still, I never ever ever want to see that movie again. It was stunning, and shot very beautifully, but I'll never be able to sit through it again with butterflies in my stomach because of the ending (all those who have seen it can understand what I mean).
I can't seem to sit through the movie Sybil, possibly because I am freaked out because I share the name with Sally Field's character. I was writing something while watching it, and every time the psychiatrist would call "Sybil, Sybil" I'd look up. I eventually lost my concentration and got pissed off. I cannot watch that movie.
I also hated The Spy Who Shagged Me. Myers- give it up. Wayne's World was funny- but c'mon- this was just bad bad bad.
All I have today. Trust me- I'll be back.

You guys just don't like TITANIC because it's a famous movie and everybody theorically likes it. C'mon, it's a nice movie. The story is moving, it's shot with talent, the characters are a little weak, but Kate Winslet is a perfect actress. The soundtrack may be a little boring but IN the movie it works perfectly. I just think a bad movie wouldn't get 11 Oscars...

Mulholland Drive was awful. It started off pretty good, but totally confused me in the end. Can anyone explain it to me? I'm serious, I've never been more confused watching a movie. Oh, and I didn't like Being John Malcovich either.

I love this topic...

OK, here's what I came up with thus far:

Hallow Man with Kevin Bacon-- Absolutley terrible. It started off really cool and interesting but it just wasn't executed properly. Toward the end of the film, the entire theater was laughing. That's NOT a good sign when it's not *suppose* to be funny. Ha.

Freddy Got Fingered-- No need for an explanation. I don't know what I was expecting but I still can't believe I paid for this horriffic flick.

Blair Witch Project II-- Ahhh! Eeek! Ugh. 'nough said.

Three To Tango-- The only reason I rented this movie was to hear Duncan's song in it (which was, by far, the best part.) It was so incredibly BAD. I don't get how three relatively big name actors could've signed on for such a crappy film. Who knows, maybe the script looked better on paper... Regardless, it sucked. Majorly.

OK. I have to get to my gov't class.

Word.

I have never seen Titanic, and I don't plan to either. I do tend to shy away from what is "popular."

Harry Potter was horrible. Not only was it LONG, but it was boring, and it included details and characters that had nothing to do with the story. It was like a bunch of people got together to read out of the book and act the scenes out badly. And the kid who played Harry had the chemistry of a wall. The only good part was Alan Rickman, but how they got him into that mess of a film I will never know.

I'm sorry, I had to add one that I can't believe I forgot- Angel's Dance. I love Kyle Chandler and Jim Belushi is hilarious- but do not watch this. The dialogue is bad, the storyline is worse- everything is just bad bad bad except for the cast.

Cyndi, Thanks so much for posting that website. I hate to say it, but reading that confused me even more. Like I said, I really liked the movie until that plot twist. Just a little too bizarre for me. My sister loved the movie -- I don't think she understood it, but she loved it.
Thanks again!

I've heard that Men in Black II sucked so bad that the people at Hoover asked if they could buy the patent.

I'm not too much of a movie buff, like other people on the board. However, I've watched a few movies in my time, and some of them were pretty bad.

I think I've already mentioned my severe dislike for anything that Pauley Shore is in, and please don't get me started on Tom Green and "Freddy Got Fingered." In my mind, the fact that there was a movie company out there willing to spend millions of dollars to produce that waste of tape is disturbing in itself. Here are some of the worst films I've ever seen:

Battlefield Earth
The Blair Witch Project
Cool As Ice
The Postman
Waterworld
Pearl Harbor

That's my little list, enjoy.

I've been trying to think of movies that I didn't like but for some reason I can't think of any...I guess I just erase them from my memory right after I see them!!
Oooooohhh....just remembered one:
"15 minutes" with Robert De Niro! I usually like DeNiro's movies but this one...it just didn't add anything to my life, you know?

OMG, Richard!!! You hate Cool As Ice?? How can anyone hate such masterful acting and witty dialogue??? LOL But, I must say that Vanilla Ice deserved at least an Oscar nod for making such a complete ass out of himself in that film. Hell, he should have gotten an Oscar for that gnarly haircut he was sporting!!! My brother and I rent that film from time to time just to make ourselves laugh It is pretty damn funny if you don't take it seriously!! I liked Dancer in the Dark. It was very strange, but I'm a huge Bjork fan and I loved watching her on screen. I think she has a very natural screen presence. I would have to say that Not Another Teen Movie was the worst movie I have ever seen. There was no creativity behind it, no humor. It was just a movie with fifty different teen movie plots shoved into it.

Cheers,

I'm gonna have to go with "On the Line". Yeah, that's the movie starring Lance from NSync. Don't get me wrong, I love him. He is the PERFECT man for me as far as I can tell, but good grief! No amount of pretty face can save that crap. I did sit through the whole thing (I rented it, thank God) much to the chagrin of my very patient roommate, but I will not evr sit through it again. And if Lance, I'm sorry, when Lance and I get married, I will be sure to KEEP HIM OUT OF MOVIES!!!

Ericka, you are right on target with "Darkly Noon" - not Brendan Fraser's best. Yuck.

And, although I love Mel, Payback sucked. Big Time. I couldn't sit through it.
