hey welcome, eliza! anyway, they way i got into duncan was a bit strange. it was late 1996, and i was 16 years old at the time. i was reading some teen magazine and they had something like a 4-line blurb about duncan touring with jewel. and i was like "hey, i like jewel, so i'll try him out, too." so i asked my mom to get me the cd (which was the first one) for the holidays, without even hearing what this duncan whooziewhatsit was all about. anyway, she did, and i was in love in the first hearing. how smooth his vocals are and his lyrics are very intuitive. and i've been a fan ever since then, december 1996. so that's my story.
blue_psyche i forgot the year when they released duncan's first album here in the philippines, but i immediately fell in love with "barely breathing". i bought his album on impulse, without even thinking if the album was even worth listening to. understand that i had to save my allowance back then just to buy that album. i think that was the 3rd or 4th album i bought (after buying only toad's albums). and take note, when i buy albums, i check to see if every song in the album is worth listening to, or else i don't buy 'coz food and clothing are worth more of my money than music. fortunately, all of duncan's albums are worth every cent i saved.
