SpringrozI bought this new edition dvd this weekend (along with Donnie Darko) bc I had never seen the movie and Ive noticed it makes its way onto everyones "Top Movies Ever Made" List. So I thought I'd give it a shot. And it is a very very good movie. I had no idea Bryan Singer did that. Its hard to believe that is the same Bryan Singer who did XMen. I just wanted to recommend this new edition that just came out to all dvd owners bc you get a lot of extra stuff and it is definitely worth the price. A great commentary track, deleted scenes, a gag reel, a million featurettes and behind the scenes, etc.
sweetsnailWhat is "The Usual Suspects" about? I've heard it's good, but I haven't seen it, nor do I know what it's about.
Also, when I saw this topic, I thought about it talking about the usual suspects with weird storylines in threads such as the fantasy thread and the musical. hehe.

kenmeyerOh, man The Usual Suspects is one of my all time faves! When I heard this special edition was coming out, I started salivating....Spring, are there lots of cool deleted scenes and such? I think I have seen that film 10 times or so, it is full of fun performances and twists and turns.

Basically, snail, it is a story about 5 or cons (and one 'bad' ex policeman), who are thrown together seemingly randomly, and end up hatching a plan to heist some cash from a bunch of corrupt cops who provide a 'limo' service to some bad guys. It is partially the great characters and the actors who play them, and partially the twisty, who knows what is really going on plot that keep you interested.

Rent it!

SpringrozForget renting it. Just buy it. It is definitely a modern classic. Yes, lots of extra stuff. It is a very cool Spec. Ed.

Oh, and this was the first movie that got Kevin Spacey (and Benicio Del Toro and a slew of others i dont want to take the time to list excluding Gabriel Byrne bc he was already pretty well known) noticed and big applause on his performance in this!

JustJennSteph, I have to take to opposite stand to Ken and Mari, it was semi-okay, i saw it once, but would not be dying to watch it again. It was not horrible, like I can not finish watching it bad, but it was medicore to boring.
FunkyFredSteph, I totally disagree with Jenn. I would call it a masterpiece! I must have seen it ten times.

Keizer Soze!!!

wolfspiritI LOVE this movie! It is also the first DVD we ever bought, and I'm really glad to see a re-issue cuz the original was pressed in Dolby Digital 2.0 - way behind 5.1 or better yet, DTS format - there is definitely a humungous difference between DVD and VHS! Great picture, but the SOUND is what totally rocks for me... we'll be pickin' up this one VERY soon.

Thanks for the info Mari!
Everyone have a great day tomorrow -
Shari.

kenmeyerwhat???? Jenn disagrees with me? My god, what is the world coming to????
TammyI love this movie! I'm a big Benicio fan and like Kevin Spacey, too, which makes it all the better. Plus, I love movies that have those surprise twists at the end. I wish I had a DVD player so that I could see all those "extras." Being a movie fan, I guess it's only a matter of time before I invest in one!
BrokenGI love that movie. Kevin Spacey is f*cking brilliant in it and the whole plot is so well thought out. Very good. One of my top movies! Go see LA Confidential too!!!

BlackwuzzySpring,
I did not have time to read all of the above posts, but I can tell you that this is indeed one of the very best movies and that Kevin Spacey is one very, very acceptional Actor. Also the other Actors were really excellent as well.
I just loved it.

**Check out "Monster's Ball." The acting in this film is EXCELLENT. Well worth seeing more than once for sure.
