More Spring Awakening …

Sorry to sound like a broken record but because of some amazing reviews for Spring Awakening (and the demand for tickets) the show has been extended another four weeks through August 7th at the Atlantic Theater in NYC. I haven’t been blogging much lately because I’ve been so busy with the show (and my own shows!) but I hope you understand. So thanks to all of you who came out to see Spring Awakening already and hopefully the extention means a lot more of you will have a chance to see it.

Cheers,
DS

UPDATE: Check out a few of the best S.A. reviews from the Associated Press, Variety, the New York Times, The New Yorker, and the New York Sun.

I’ve been reading the reviews and it’s been exhilarating. I think my favorite adjective regarding the score has been “shimmering,” but it’s hard to choose because there are so many good ones. I won’t be able to see it this run, so here’s hoping you release the music on cd in your copious (ha!) free time. Congratulations to both you and Steven…

    Cheers,
    Elizabeth

Congrats Duncan!! I also agree that if not hearing from you means you are seeing success for your incredible efforts, then all’s well.
Critics can be so incredibly hard- this play must be amazing to be getting the reviews it is.
    Enjoy and go well-

Saw Spring Awakening two nights ago. Absolutely extraordinary, probably the best thing I’ve seen in ten years. Duncan, PLEASE keep writing for the theatre. Your passion and spirit are exactly what we’ve been waiting for.

I’ll even come up with some ideas for you, if needed.

Any plans for a recording of S.A.?

Yesterday morning I got a call from my sister saying that there was a big write-up(a very positive one) about Spring Awakening in the local newspaper. I guess there was a big photo of you along with it. Then later on in the day my mom called to tell me the same. :) I tried to find the article online, to no avail(gotta love those small-town newspapers), but I did ask them to cut it out and send it to me. So that’s what they’re doing.

Anyway, I thought you’d like to know that the good folks of Columbia and Dutchess county are now aware of your greatness, if they weren’t already. :)

I finally saw the play and honestly, at closing, I was left SPEECHLESS. Yes, it was FANTASTIC!!! Our seats on stage were the best. I truly enjoyed being immersed among the actors and could feel/hear/see every move. That in itself, IMHO is a very unique experience. Best of all, we were also seated in very close proximity to the band…what an excellent bunch. The live band(again IMHO), added more pizazz to the whole look/experience of the play. Furthermore, the young cast are all extremely talented and what a joy to watch them.

Duncan, need I say it…the entire musical score is beautiful beyond words. My very best of luck with the successful direction this will bring you and cheers to all the upcoming lovely news/projects too. :-)

    Grande Bisous,
    ~L~
