Remixes

I hope you guys are working on your remixes because Todd, Peter and myself are getting ready to launch the “White Limousine Remix Area” very soon. The initial plan is for people to upload their remixes to the new site where they will be reviewed by a top secret arbitration committee and the ones that are “approved” will be streamed from the site for anyone else to hear. So please make them hottt.

Cheers,
DS

Excellent! I’m looking forward to hearing what everyone can pull off. After listening to your new cd way many times, it is official: great album man. Keep on doin’ it Duncan, good stuff, good stuff. I’m going to the Seattle show, so see you there! Peace!

  2. coolinaz Says:

“Top secret, huh”?? Would someone on that committee happen to have the initials DS? ;)
    You are too funny…

  3. blackwuzzy Says:

Oh, I guess that means I now have to get to work. :)

I knew this relaxation was too good to last. I’ve heard some cool ones already DS.

Did you just say “hottt”…alrighty, what hip artists to mash your White Limo songs with…hahaha, am kidding or maybe NOT:P:D:D:D

Sounds like loads of fun…looking forward to all the fantastic creations :-)

p.s. I haven’t even put the dvd in yet…I think I’m scared of it or something.

  9. Alexis Says:

Sweet! Definitely looking forward to Duncan Radio.

  10. coolinaz Says:

Okay, so I listened to a couple of remixes that are posted at the website. One of them (I think WL?) had part of “Magazine” mixed in there as well. I thought you could only use the songs from WL. So how can you mix in songs from other albums? That opens up a world of possibilities… someone enlighten me please.
I am going to try to spend some time with the DVD tomorrow and see what happens.

  11. Rena316 Says:

Some like it Hot! Obviously Duncan you’re one of those people :)

The website for remixes is a great idea. I’m definitely excited about trying some mixes epecially w/ Shopping, Fantastic Toys, and Star field.

  16. Tansy Says:

    Three t’s in “hot?”
    Ohhhhh, Duncan… don’t perpetuate that… please?

    Well…
As long as you don’t write “ya baby”
when in actuality, you mean “yeah baby.” :D

Excited to hear that which has been AC Approved.
    Candy for the ears, surely.

    Anywhat.
I’ll see you Wednesday evening, sometime around 8ish.
    I won’t heckle you for a Smith’s song this time, I swear.

    Workin’ on it. :)

  19. jaxtonypiper Says:

You know Duncan means it when he uses 3 T’s.

I made a “remix” but it only makes you sound like you have a severe speech impediment.

    Shameful.

  20. leveriza Says:

Mr. Sheik, my apologies for the off-topic query…I was just browsing through your touring schedule there and got REALLY SAD. There are just a few more shows left on the tour:( Please tell me there is an ENCORE to the White Limo tour. I/we all know you’re terribly busy, but at the same time, the tour has been TOO GOOD and TOO MUCH FUN and ’tis truly difficult to say goodbye or just come to a realization that the tour is “OVER…” There you have it, Tuesday Wishful Thinking…

BTW, Happy V-Day…have a rockin’ performance in Minneapolis :-)

    Cheers,
    Leveriza

  21. rosenater Says:

working on it—if one of my remixes rocks, all I request is a 25 percent cut of all profits of the song I remix—-that’s a fair trade right? :)

    Alright duncan, I’ll keep dreaming.

I second that Leveriza…I think we need another date in New York…I can’t make it to the Lincoln Center show :( …very dissappointed that it is the only one!!!
Where is the New York love????
    Allison

  23. clara Says:

Nothing about remixes from me yet, just wanted to say thanks for the show in Minneapolis on tuesday (you were mine and my sister’s valentine-bet you didn’t know that!). Also, sorry there was pressure from the crowd to do “Barely Breathing”, yes, it is a good song but there are so many other good ones that should be heard more! ( I myself was pushing for “Phantom Moon”-guess I didn’t speak loud enough). Thank you for playing “Wishful Thinking” …I love it so much, it has gotten me through some tough times in the past and I always find something new when I listen to it
So yes, good show, keep them coming and we will try and come up with a clever band name for you and David ; ) ….

  24. Tansy Says:

    Dear Mr. Sheik,

Thank you so much for the lovely Double Door show. I’m sorry that the ladies in the front were spilling their expired drinks upon your cables and such. Their pushing of buttons was highly unethical.

I’m glad that we got to speak, though so brief. I’m flattered/embarrassed that pumpkin offerings and talk regarding Ida reserved flicks in your memory. If ever you would like to answer my question about being plugged in to the world and surviving with it as such, let me know. I think it’d be an excellent topic over any sort of consumptive material- even if it were indeed, a burrito.

I’ll keep my senses peeled regarding April.
Until then Mr. Pinot Noir, be safe and healthy.
    Much love you and yours,
Susan (with an extra ‘n’. Or, as Katie calls me “Ms. Pumpkin Lady.”)

PS. My darling friend Allison says you smelled nicely. :D

  25. leveriza Says:

May I just quickly say that the creative mixes being shared over at the SheikFreik site are cool and so much fun….HOORAY!

Now for off topic ramblings…Tansy, do post a review of the evening at the Double Door last night(sheikfreik site)…I/we would really love it and thank you in advance :-) Oh, and if I could only guess what “the regarding April” was about…WOWSA ; )

Lastly, Mr. Sheik—enjoy the last few shows there and have a superb performance…I believe am momentarily suffering from DS concert withdrawals…boohooooo ; )

    Be Well,
    Leveriza

  26. Rena316 Says:

    Hi Duncan-

I was at the Chicago show w/ Ms. Pumpkin (Susann) and Allison and I too was dismayed by the naughty ladies pushing your buttons. Although they in no way ruin the creativity juices that were in motion on stage. You seemed a little tired at the end of the night- so was I. I hope you are refreshed today. :)

Thanks for yet another autograph and photo. Tell your friend, Mr. Poe, he is such a flatterer. ;)

    Sincerely,

    Rena

  27. Tansy Says:

    Oooo.
Heard that there’s snow out in the direction you fellas are heading. Just wanted to wish you guys safety in getting to the east coast this weekend.

    Please be careful!

  28. ingenue Says:

okay… i have remixes in my head… (well, maybe not obvious remixes… more like subtle additions… *insert screaming child*

  29. ingenue Says:

    ACK… what i meant to say was…

okay… i have remixes in my head… (well, maybe not obvious remixes… more like subtle additions… *insert screaming child* (just kidding))

but watch out… once i get my ‘ish sorted out, it’ll all come together… in time… but i can’t make any promises. i have to figure out some programs and/or make one of my friends mix it for me… and then… ooh la la…

    . : candice : .

…don’t know how the rest got cut off!

  30. brianj Says:

Ok, I’m a little lame for posting this a few days late. This was a busy week at work, sorry.
The Chicago show was great! Duncan - I send Thank You’s to you, the band and David for a night to remember. Your shows always have a way of making me remember what is most important in life. That is the connections that we all have with each other. I appreciate you so much for that fact.
Looking forward to the next time I get to see you. Take care and safe travels to you and the guys.
PS. David should consider going on the road with a stand up comedy act. He is an absolute riot. I loved his humor.
    - Brian

  31. Mercgurl Says:

As I’m writing this, I’m working on a White Limo remix in GarageBand… it’ll be interesting to hear what I come up with and such, and to also hear how it’ll pale in comparison to the awesome remixes already out there.

Duncan, your show in Danbury last night was frickin’ cool. You simply rocked, as always. It was worth making my husband drive us all the way from Boston (actually we made a weekend of it, as my in-laws live in CT and we owed them a visit anyways). If only I did more than wave hello to you from our table. I’m totally kicking myself for not asking for autographs then, or even waiting to meet you afterwards. Why why why? D’oh!

Oh well, there will be other shows. Probably not for a while though, since the tour’s almost over, but I am a wishful thinker. ^_^ Good luck with the rest of your shows, and have fun.

    Catherine

  32. Mercgurl Says:

    Oh yeah, one more thing…
Thought it was kinda cute when you mentioned that you and David still haven’t come up with a name for your band, and David goes “I thought we agreed on ‘Codpiece’?” Please ask him for me what made him come up with that. Caught me off guard at first, but funny nonetheless.

    Catherine

  35. Tansy Says:

    Leveriza,
    ears + eyes = senses.

The bird on Duncan’s lips last Wednesday
told me that he’d be back (most likely) sometime in April.

    Nothing too “WOWSA” about that…
I do have a few pictures of the show though…
I’ll get around to posting on sheikfreik soon.
Too much school and work so far, but. You’ll see them in time.

    Okay, really. Over and out.
Off to dream of German vocab- ICK!
    (Studieren ich nicht so gut,
und ich habe ein Examen morgen Abend! eeeek!),

  36. leveriza Says:

Tansy…Mr. Sheik—>possibly being back to do a show sometime in April…not WOWSA to you…it was EXACTLY what I meant about the “regarding April” bit…

  38. jp Says:

ok, so i really don’t know where to post this (my apologies)…. i decided to share some things with all of you out there.

i have 2 confessions to make:

    1. i’m a groupie- i’ve been to almost every single duncan concert in nyc in the past 4 years.

    2. i had a not-so-good day today… you know, one of those. a very long one.

so, because of #1 and #2, i was really looking forward to tonite’s concert.

i have to say, duncan and the guys ROCKED! BUT- OH MY GOD! the audience was DEAD!

it might because of #1, but i’m used to going to concerts and really enjoying the music. you know, feeling the music and letting the band know that they *indeed* ROCK! well, that wasn’t the case tonite. people were…. a little too uptight for my taste. and the guys seemed to be a little disappointed maybe? or maybe it was me. but duncan kinda wanted more from the audience. i mean, c’mon people! i felt like i was the only one clapping before & after every song! i was fortunate enough to get good table seats, but there were 2 gentlemen sitting next to me and they were simply DEAD! i almost felt that i was being rude by enjoying the music. they kinda gave me looks and everything.

oh yeah- so me and my friend were feeling kinda bad for the band, so we decided to get a bottle of wine for them. you know, me being the groupie I am (refer back to #1) and everything, I thought it’d be nice to do that. well, turns out that the lady outside (not nice, by the way) wasn’t very helpful. she gave me way too much attitude, and i decided that it wasn’t good for my soul to argue with her. don’t want any bad karma. so what the heck… i went back in and tried to enjoy the concert.

for those of you who weren’t there… duncan and the boys really rocked. the venue was very nice (great design and architecture). there were very nice surprises in the setlist (eg, such reveries, lover from hell, selections from duncan’s collaborations in musical theatre, etc). duncan’s voice was close to perfection. and, as usual, his sense of humor was…. well, very funny. i really wished they had allowed me to jump and scream and sing and actually enjoyed the concert. i mean, i did enjoy the concert, but the audience ruined it for me. it was the perfect concert to be taped for a future DVD release….

so, not really sure what my point is. you guys rocked. it sucks that the people were glued to their seats and were too tired or scared or shy to show the band some real appreciation. hope i can see you again, but this time in another venue……. irving plaza with aimee mann and yellow umbella tour were both fun. shine nightclub was amazing. the living room was my favorite so far. please play again in a smaller, more intimate, less rigid venue!

    best of luck,

    the groupie from table 502

PS: now that i think about it… i might have been seating next to the so-called “industry people”. i’m serious- i was wondering if they actually knew who DS was………. unbelievable!

  39. Tansy Says:

    O I C Ms. Leveriza…
Well, here’s the thing: Sheiky mentioned something about potentially playing solo next time. Which is super WOWSA for me: I haven’t seen him alone before. Ever. (thoughts of Humming Along type of sets… tooveryawesome) But I guess, I didn’t want to show my super excitedness?
    Like, I’m cool or something?

    :pauses:

    Hahahahahahahaha!
(someone shouts from the sidelines, “geek!”)

    Anywhat. My cover’s blown.
And I’ve gotta use the watercloset.
    SO… toodles!

    :D Susann

  40. heroki Says:

    hey duncan,

thanks for another AWESOME concert in philly tuesday night! was the longest concert ever (but in a wonderful way). i hope you and david come up with a band name soon! good luck with your musical. i uploaded a ton of pix (http://www.flickr.com/photos/heroki/sets), and we managed to capture some short video segments of you guys doing “joy” and “white limousine.” see ya a 4th time when youre back in town, take care of yourself! ~helen

DOLLY PARTON has those breasts naturally.
$1.00 to the one who can tell me how she did it and why she won’t tell us?

  42. Topaz Says:

This has nothing to do with remixes but….

Duncan, you totally impress me. I mean it. And I’ll tell you why. We just got back from the Virginia shows, which were both spectacular in my opinion. You totally shine up there on the stage! Your voice ALWAYS sounds wonderful to me, you JAM your butt off on that black guitar, and you never fail to impress me with your great sense of humor and hilarious comebacks no matter what someone throws at you.

Also, and this is most impressive to me, you just about ALWAYS hang around after the show to meet your fans. I mean, you must be SO tired sometimes at the end of the night, and could very well just head backstage like just about every other musical artist out there. But you come out, patiently sit there, or stand there, so humble, never rushing anyone along….talking for as long as they want, posing for pictures, etc…Who else does this??!! This is very special to a lot of people. You make the night memorable for them. You’re awesome Duncan. :)

Thanks for being you and caring enough to do this. Oh, I almost forgot. My mom says hi. :) I forgot to tell you the other night.

    Laura

  43. leveriza Says:

Awww…DS, Laura speaks of the truth! Laura, very-very well said ; )

Duncan and band(everyone else)…many, many thanks for all the beautiful performances…YOU GUYS ROCK! Ummm, who’s READY FOR MORE? ; )

    GREAT JOB and REST WELL!

    ~Best,

  44. kyan Says:

Again, about your concerts (and not the remixes)… thanks for a great show in VA/DC. First time I’ve seen you, and you were mesmerizing. Thanks. enjoyed talking with you briefly afterwards. You are doing a good thing…. and have been an inspiration. Keep it up… take good care.

  45. dmartin Says:

Hi Duncan, band and crew. Many, many thanks for the immensely captivating performances in Seattle. All the best for the rest of your tour, as you continue to inspire everyone!

Btw, has anyone else heard about the planned compilation of Radiohead covers? Does anyone know why Duncan’s lovely B-side of “Fake Plastic Trees” won’t be included? (The cover that made me break out the original version and listen to it after many months of neglect, *not* the other way around?) Just something I’ve been pondering lately.
