Too much to do !

It’s one of those days … I’m trying to finish an indie movie score, get the songs done for “Nero”, get Chris Garneau’s record further along and get ready for the tour. Best case scenario - not gonna happen. But we do try. (and Peter is helping) I hope most of you are having a more leisurely day than I am.

Cheers,
DS

Are you kidding!? It’s Monday. No person who’s working 9-5 is having a leisurely day . . . we all have a case of the ‘Moondays’. (Office Space)

It’s all good, though. Another day, another dollar to use to buy ‘White Limousine’. Woohoo!

What is “Nero”…what did I miss!?

  3. Cici Says:

Aw, poor Duncan… thanks for working so hard. I’m sure the results will be extra lovely when you’re able to get them done… but you know what they say - it’s all in the journey or something like that which no one ever believes ;)…
*Hug and good thoughts* PS. What’s the movie?

  4. Watermark Says:

Worst-case scenario: You score a Chris Garneau movie, produce an indie record for Nero (the radio-friendly ditty “Rome Is Burning” a cross between The Smiths and Ennio Morricone), and send Peter on tour.

    Have a :) day

    Hey Dunc,

If you are that busy, why are you posting on your Blog? This is no time to play, son! I’m kidding!

I know we all need to blow off steam when we have our hands full. The only thing I can offer is my apologies for your hectic Monday schedule, and say that if there is something that someone else can do for you while you are juggling your tasks, empower them to do it. I know there a lot of composers who score films by writing short themes, and letting the arrangers take care of the rest.

Good luck Duncan. Thoughts are always with you. :)
Don’t be too surprised, should you get it all done much faster than you think. :)

** Find the time to take it easy though. That’s most important.

    Love & Much Peace,

    M :)

All work and no play makes Duncan a dull boy…..

Get all your work done, so this tour can get on the road…. I’m DYING here in Little Rock waiting for the 24th….

It’s just NOT getting here fast enough for my liking……

Funny, I was thinking the other day how it would be nice if you would share some of your “mundane” daily stuff with us- you know, kind of a “day in the life” thoughts. I think it’s safe to say that you lead a very different life than what most of us do. This gives us some insight into the normal frustrations, victories, accomplishments, etc that are a part of your world.
Don’t get me wrong, the “themed”. i.e. political, postings are good too, but can get get pretty intense.
BTW- what is Nero? Several other folks are wondering as well.
Try not to get too worked up, days like this usually have a way of working out. If you are like me, my “To Do” list is more things than are absolutely necessary.
Have a glass of wine and try to take it easy… enjoy your tour.

Something tells me this one won’t make it far, but still…

Anyway, Duncan, we all appreciate your hard work and I am sure you do not get to hear it enough. Thanks a lot, buddy!

    Duncan…

Mondays are kinda nice, IF you’ve got your list and get all those things done, leaving a nice week ahead to work on others things.
I just want to post real quick. Lets see if you get this…

I’m doing Theaterical Publicity for “Through The Fire” here in Portland. Who would I talk to on your end to do a Q&A with yourself and Pete Miser. I’m trying to do a ‘grassroots’ campaign with this and just wanted to know if you would be interested in talking about the score, and what you and Pete did for the film. Just a quick refresher; I’m the guy that gave you and Gerry a DVD in your last Portland show. Hope to hear from you…

    Aha, typical Monday LOL

Didn’t get to send my “not gonna happen”emaill till today though. Try to underwrite mortgage loans for a living, sheesh. I think I actually used all of my “cliches” today. “What were they thinking?” “Not enough velcro on this file to make it stick” “you might want to re-think this product” and “you want docs out when?” Some days it’s so bad it’s silly…but don’t get me wrong, I love my job(with the exception of the occasional Monday and of course those first days back from Holiday or Vacation, and probably right before them too) and usually get to approve most of my files(after a little loan officer consultation, a little finesse and occationally a big restructure).

    Is it Friday yet?

  12. clara Says:

Certainly does sound like plenty of tasks…let me know if you need a hand or anything ; )
Let me assure you, you are making a difference with all of it (as far as I can see).
I don’t know where you are or what the temp is, but it might help to think that you are not in Minnesota right now….she is certainly ‘getting down with her bad self’ right now (it’s cold).
Looking forward to seeing and hearing the fruits of your labor ….

    sleep…..clara

Have a great day Duncan. I’m off to work myself!

:) Peace, love and all that good stuff,

So, does anyone know what “Nero” is yet?

  15. laguirre Says:

Much to do, but isn’t exciting?

I myself are to the point of collapse… I’m emotionally overwhelmed, mentally worn-out, financially drained, and the final frontier -physically exhausted….. and still, even though I’m playing with the idea of calling my doc for a check-up because I indeed feel sickly, I can’t stop…. so excited about the idea of the new year, haha! Ugh….. I need a break, but must finish last-year loose ends before I can move on, and I so wanna get started in my new projects!

Score for an indie movie? Working on someone’s album? Songs for a play?
It sounds like hectic-fun! Haha! Join the club.

Later! Hope today is not as bad (stop whining, I’ll try too ;)

Nero… a very interesting figure indeed.

  16. laguirre Says:

    And… oh yeah!

If you’re gonna be procastinating, check mySpace blog page! I have posted a picture with you and Mr. David Poe from the Yellow Umbrella Tour in my “year in review” pics….

    Cheers!

Happy Tuesday one and all… How’d you fair yesterday? well….take it easy on yourself.
For one reason and/or another you seem to be one of those guys who prefer to “do it all himself” :) and you need some down time to relax, as it’s only 8 days till kick off … so, go ahead … Let Peter finish that song … *wink

  18. Tansy Says:

    D,
this sounds ridiculous, but trust me: it helps with stress.
If you have a bathtub, fill it with a lot of hot water. Put like, five tea bags of chamomile in the water. Let them seep for a few minutes. Also, if you have it, burn sandalwood. Both scents will give way to peace and calm. Lay down in the tea bath for as long as you can stand it (I hate being pruny so… I stay usually less than an hour, depending). Tip: I like my water really hot, just because it forces the muscles to relax. But when it?s hot you sweat. So to avoid dehydration, I always have a cool drink of some kind sitting on the side of the tub?g watered-down juice, or cool tea is good. Then when you get out sit still for a bit?g meditate, whatever you need?g until the heat of the water dissipates. Then make a large cup of ginger and jasmine green tea?g the ultimate subtle jump-start. It’ll warm you, and the ginger will help make the circulation of blood more rapid, giving you an extra boost. Woo!

If you don?t have a tub… drink lots of tea and meditate.
Or maybe a trip to the park will revive you?

Hope your day wasn?t entirely overwhelming,
    Susann

  19. Celandine Says:

Just reading your post, Tansy, made me feel relaxed! :)
(It also made me wish I had one of those oversized tubs!)

    :) -Tammy

  20. Tansy Says:

Hehehe! I wish I had an oversized tub too!
But luckily I’m small and kinda all fit in my tiny tub.
But man, my knees get cold sometimes! ;D

I had just gotten out of the bath when I’d written that.
It seems so silly, but it really does just. sloooow yooou down.
    So relaxing.
Now I smell of pine (purifying), jasmine (calming)
and juniper (general health and calm).
Even just a whiff of my arm makes me go, “ahhh.” :D
