I actually did not make it to the Doves. as I was exhausted on Thurs. and they weren’t playing until 1 AM. I heard it was cool though (Micah saw them). By the way, the “thin nylon jackets from the eighties” in the first post was a dumb joke about the site having a “Members Only” section which made me think of Members Only jackets. But since there was such a positive reaction, maybe I should try and do a special edition … well, maybe not.

I?Lm listening to the Doves (”Here it comes”, that?Ls a very catchy chorus, and “Sea Song” is also great!). They have that characteristic british sound, I love it! Thanks for your recommendation DS!

You know, Duncan, it’s funny how those types of silly jokes develop a life of their own, especially over the internet. Don’t be surprised if we all show up at your next gig sporting vintage jackets. Consider it a nod and a ;).

pheeeew. when i first read it i was thinking of the members only jackets and i chuckled about it and then when i saw the comments i felt really stupid for thinking it was a joke. i mean, if you ever came out with em i’d probably buy one, but it’s nice to know i’m not crazy. haha.

DS, I hope that you did not make the Doves show because of too many fuzzy navels on Wednesday night :) Thanks again for rocking in Austin, it was a great 3 hour set which turned into the “power trio” set. Coincidence, I think not :) Now go lay down some excellent vocals for the new album.

Thanks for the Doves tip! I checked out some of their latest tracks and I liked them so much I bought tickets to their show in Detroit today!
I’ve been going through my music collection to catch up on, who I thought to be up-and-coming, artists who I have lost track of. I’m trying to catch up on a guy named Gus. I just found out he’s going by Gus Black now and has released a couple of albums since 1999 (the last I kept track of him). I brought home a promo of his album “Word of Mouth Parade” from the record store I was working at at the time, in 1999. It’s a fantastic album. He goes by simply “Gus” on this album. Check it out if you want some new (well, new to you) music to listen to. It’s time for me to check out his latest stuff now. :-)
Oh, and DS, as a side note, consider coming to Ann Arbor, MI, during any upcoming tour you plan on having. We’d love to have you! (I do realize you need to get the album out first, before you start thinking about tour plans. ) ;-)
