The Goldhawk
Well, that was fun last night. It was nice to have Fil Kronengold playing keyboards, and Gerry, of course. Tonight’s show will
be the same lineup and Sat. will be full band, just so you know.
Best,
DS

Hi Duncan!
Will your Indianapolis Aug 05 show be just you or a full band? How about Nashville in September?

I am so looking forward to tonight’s show. Thank you so much for expanding your venues to all these cool little out-of-the-way places.

I really wish I was even close to where the concerts are. However, being in another country makes it hard to road trip it there. Maybe one day. Have fun and I’m sure the shows will be awesome!
Shalom!

Duncan,
Please come back to Austin soon… Have you checked out the ACL line up of bands? Should be a really good couple of days of live music.

Wow. Thank you SO much. Needless to say, I just got back from the Larchmont show. (I’m showing how big of a nerd I am by already posting this.) I did not even recognize you with the beard! The new stuff sounds great!!
First of all, I am sorry if I at all broke your concentration by yelling at the start of “Good Morning!,” but that is one of my favorite songs and the Bush joke just made it all that much better. I am glad I made you laugh, though. Thanks for playing it, too. I saw you open for Ben Folds and you played it then, too, and I feel very fortunate to have heard it the both times I have seen you perform and each time was different. And I am sorry that I (evidently) opened the flood gates for people to start shouting things. I was not crazy about the audience and I got stuck alllll the way in the back despite making reservations almost a month ago. I am one of the three Nick Drake fans. I was happy that you made it through your set without “Barely Breathing,” but I do not begrudge you for playing it. How could you resist “You forgot one music!”?
Thank you for the amazing set. But thank you for being so kind. I managed to blurt out “You were awesome” as you were coming back out and you actually stopped. And you also shook my hand just a few minutes later. You really made my night. I am sorry if I was at all a blubbering tool, but you are one of my favorite musicians and I have been a fan of your’s since I was 12. (I am 21, now. I told you I am a huge fan!) You are a great inspiration to me. I hope you see this, because I really wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking just a little time to talk to me. But even if you do not, you deserve a thanks and a great big hug. They will definitely be two moments I will never forget.
Thank you for the great music, the great night, the funny jokes, and for being so awesome

I too was at the Larchmont show, and thankfully I am not the only nerd for posting the same night.
I suppose I am one of those people that Russelld may not have liked too much, as we went with the banter, as is usually the case at the 6 or 7 of your shows that I have caught. You ask questions of the audience, and we answer. That’s usually how it goes. Personally, the other fans I met tonight were amazing (Maresky and MisterEd, for starters). There were many others that were in various stages of knowing your music, and yet, you held that room captive from the first chord strum until “Goodnight!”.
Also, I wish so that Russell was able to see better, as there were a whole lot more than three Nick Drake fans present. That venue is so narrow and long, it really makes a difference if you are at the front or back. But, then again, it was the size of a large-ish living room, so who can really complain?
I loved your crack on Bush. Really. The funny thing is that I am a devoted liberal Democrat (organized 4 Kerry fundraisers last year), and my best friend (who caught your show for the first time and loved you, Gerry and Fil) is a staunch pro-Bushie. I’ve tried, man. She’s not budging. :)
I think we all really appreciated Barely Breathing. As I mentioned to you tonight, it’s what made many of us tap into your talents, and it may even hold special places in many of your fans hearts. I hope that one day, you can step back and say, “Damn, those lyrics are sweet!”
I think the whole place will indeed take you up on crashing in your sleeping bag somewhere between South Hampton and Nova Scotia this weekend. ;)
With many thanks, respect for your work and what you do, and Toll House Cookie Pie for Gerry,

Lala: If you were “going with the banter,” as you put it, then, no, it was not you. There were a couple of people just shouting stuff out and I just didn’t think what they were saying was all that funny or interesting so I was like geez, stop talking. But that is not why I did not like the audience that much. I just got the feeling that most people there were not into the show that much. From your presence here, I am going out on a limb and saying you do not fit into that category :)
The place was very nice. My friends and I had to special order a meal so that we could afford something that would actually fill us up. I’d order an over-priced meal to do tonight all over again. Duncan, thank you so much again. I still cannot believe I actually got to meet you. I forgot to ask how your dessert was!

Hi, is there a show tonight?? I had planned for the Larchmont show but got tied up at work and was totally bummed — spent way too much time analyzing the importance of work versus the whole work-life balance thing. Anyway, I didn’t realize there was a show tonight, so if someone can tell me where it is, that would be great. Thanks!
