Finished, for now …
I just got home from finishing the first round of mixes for White Limo. I’m sure we will make a few changes before it’s all said and done but Kevin Killen did a great job. And I’m truly exhausted. It will be interesting to hear it all tomorrow …

Wow, Duncan…just got home from dinner and drinks, so sorry you and Kevin worked really hard today…but hey, surely the final work will be terrific and very much worth the wait. Get some good rest…and don’t let the bed bugs bite… :-)

Very exciting stuff! I’m looking forward to it. Congratulations once more.
And should you want some light, airy reading for your newfound free time (haha) this month’s Harper’s has a fascinating article by Jeff Sharlet, “Inside America’s Most Powerful Megachurch.” cheers~

Hey Everyone,
You’re awesome. Many thanks for your endless hard work. I have this ritual that I practice everytime I’m presented with new music. I get in my car and play it in its entirety while driving up Pacific Coast Highway. It’s very cathartic for me I guess and allows for a more direct experience. It’s also the only reason why I will justify owning a car. It’s my escape pod!Anyhow, looking forward to the next road trip with you!
Oh, and I wanted to ask a question related to the last thread. A while ago, you and Steven Sater recorded an excellent track called “Another Gone” a tribute to the brilliant Elliott Smith. The recording I have is not of good quality and I was wondering if it’s possible to add this song to the MO section?
Peace and Much Love,
Roxanne

Sorry you’re exhausted, but I’m looking forward to the results! I scuttled to Ticketmaster Friday and bought tickets for the Indy show Aug 5. I’m really looking forward to it and White Limo.
Thanks for the great communication. I would be pretty clueless about your work without this site.

Good Work Mr Sheik
Keep it up the beautiful tunes will shine soon for all of us!
Do you use Pro Tools on your music? Is that your editor? Did you teach yourself how to mix and master or do you have help on that stuff—I would assume with you being the big intelligent rock star that ya are—you do it yourself. Just wondering though—I just hope I get the chance to do just a touch of what you get to do with your music—-I hate having crappy gear that restricts me and doesn’t let me do what I want, let alone money to than afford the gear that I would like to have. Oh well, such is the beginnings of the starving artist…..I’m sure you’ve been there before. Peace

Ironic that you should mention sleeping.
You had an influence in my dreams last night.
Apparently, I’m stingy when it comes to your signature.
For some reason I decided that both my copies of Phantom and Daylight needed to be signed. But of course my blonde-self forgot them at home (which was really my parents house in Kansas, even though the show was in Chicago???). But there was predicament: if I went back for them, I’d miss part of your set.
That’s simply unacceptable, dream or no.
I tried to be creative and suss out a way to get them to the show without leaving myself but I don’t know if I slept long enough for an outcome to the plot.
Funny, weird, little in and out dream.
But having both copies signed would be nice.
Just to keep with tradition.
Fitful sleeper,
Susann

oh man, people dont really understand how painstaking mixing a record is. it seems super easy at first but good lord is it hard. i run a recording studio from my basement and i cant tell you the amount of hours ive spent listening to the same 10 second loop trying to make some small part fit. the whole process takes so much out of you. best of luck with the rest of the mixing, man. i cant wait to hear the finished product.
