Nice.
Really great to hear all your responses to the previous post. I should have included Zero 7, Secret Machines, Joanna Newsom and a few others. The main thing is, y’all have some very sophisticated and, might I add, damn good taste.
The White Limo mixes are coming along nicely (5 down 8 to go) but I’m trying to figure out what I can pull off live at this early date. We’ll see. Peter is coming back to NYC tomorrow from a road trip and we are going to compile another set of songs for the M.O. section. These will be all the “existing” properly recorded covers (not the 80’s ones I spoke of earlier, but a few that almost no one has heard. Court and Spark will be among them). All righty then, I’m off to bed.

Hey Duncan,
Is there any chance you could give us a few pics of the studio? It would be interesting to see where everything is going down. I’ve appreciated the updates, keep them coming.
Sincerely,
tbj

Good morning Duncan!
But of course we have good taste in music….we’re all fans of YOUR good classy stuff. That’s gotta tell you something right there, yes? Yes.
I’m happy to hear about both the progress on the album and the soon to come covers. Can’t wait! By the way, I love your “Court and Spark” cover. It’s one of my favorites, if not my favorite.
And I’m sure that whatever you put together for the upcoming shows will be superb. I myself would love it if you threw a little tapdance number in there…how about it? No? :D I’m so groggy this morning…
Have a great day and thanks for the update.

I hope there’s some more Nick Drake covers. You sound really good covering Mr. Drake. I must say though, I really did enjoy your cover of ‘Surf’s Up.’ It’s beautiful. Glad ‘Limo’ is coming along well. I cannot wait.

Hi Duncan!
What a coincidence that I was listening to covers you have done, just this morning before logging on to the DS blog. Let’s see the Humming Along collection, Fake Plastic Trees, and Beyond The Sea(that was a treat with the full orchestra and all…I think). :-) I have never heard of your cover of “Court and Spark”…oooh must ask Laura ’bout that one!
Anyway, many thanks for the updates on your upcoming record release…really looking forward to it…the suspense is almost unbearable :-) And, I just realized…never submitted my list of cd’s(I currently enjoy)…probably not far from what has been listed already…okay, will do that this afternoon.
Take good care and keep up the excellent work!
Cheers,
Leveriza

Ah, southerner shows himself. :D
It’s okay. I get teased all the time for saying “ya’ll.”
It?s the disposition of being a Kansan. :sigh:
I suppose it’s cool, as long as you aren’t saying
“I’m gonna go crank the car,” in conjunction…
That?s just bad.
Glad to hear the album’s coming along.
Apparently I’m not the elitist Duncan fan that I thought I was:
I’ve never heard “Court and Spark.” Oh well. That’s what MO is for.
So, thank you in advance.
Okay, must go. Must sell books back today. Piddly $$$.
But my trip to Ireland’s only a six weeks away…
and every little counts.
Have a good day Mr. Sheik.
Onward with the pretty noises!

Oh wow, Joanna Newsom. I didn’t list her since I don’t have her album, but I borrowed it from a friend once. I love how her bizarre, almost grating voice grabs you and doesn’t let you go. Nothing short of amazing.
Covers! That sounds great. I would love to hear an Elliott Smith cover or two… :)

Duncan
I’m sure we’re all very excited for any new material that you put out. You’ve put out some great versions of covers in the past. Your White Limo stuff thus far has been incredible. I was wondering though if you have anymore information regarding the Chicago show on the 6th of August, such as the time or ticket prices, etc. I plan on being in the Chicago area during that timeframe, and I can’t find any information. I’ve only seen a few show dates on the 7th for the Market Days thing, but your name wasn’t mentioned. If you could shed any light on this subject, it would be much appreciated.

keep up the good work duncan! I know how tedious and tiring studio work can be- just keep your eyes fixed on the end product! man- its been too long since i’ve heard anything new from the guy who inspired me to persue a music career - SO pleased the fifth album is on the way.

oh, and i also second maria’s idea about the elliott smith covers-it’d be fantastic to see you help keep his beautiful music alive that way- well done for ‘another gone’; excellent.

Hey Hey Duncan,
I would like to include Aslyn from my previous post. I saw her last week when she opened for Ari Hest and she is an amazing talent with a powerful, beautiful, and very controlled voice. I expect we will hear more about her soon.
I have been listening to the WL B-sides and they are great. I love the line in (AEE) that says ” PEOPLE ON SCREEN, SELLING DREAMS, AN EVENINGS ENTERTAINMENT” that’s a great classic line in the making !!! Looking forward to the album and tour….
Anyways, just like “thebutangjedi ” said on the first post it will be excellent to see some photos of the journey that you are going thru in making this album. Studio shots, gear shots, session shots, etc… also behind the scenes video of the studio sessions, live performances, or anything you would like to share with us, that would rock!!!
Thanks for your continued time with the updates and I hope this post finds you well.
Peace Out,
Szep91

More Covers! Thanks, where do you find the time…
“Reel Around The Fountain” by the Smiths…oooh your version of it, “me likey very much” ’twas the first time I heard it. :-)
Thanks again for truly taking the time out to give us more excellent music. Take good care.
Cheers,

This is off topic, but didnt really see a post or an email address to send you a thank you.
I saw this special ‘In the Name of God’ on A&E that you were on back in March, and the bit on SGI really peaked my interest. Though not knowing how to spell the organisation the only way I found more information on it was through the link on your website.
The philosophy is so logical, inspiring and uncomparable that I decided to receive my Gohozon on 4/24.
Thanks again!
