Almost there …
I just got back from upstate (Gerry’s house) where I did (nearly) all the rest of the vocals and Gerry did some
of his ghostlieness. Kevin Killen is set to begin mixing on Wednesday so I’m going to have a pretty busy 48 hours getting everything ready. At the moment it looks like the track listing for the record will be (in no particular order):
Shopping
White Limousine
Nothing Fades
Hey Casanova
Fantastic Toys and Corduroys
I Don’t Believe in Ghosts
Altered
So Gone
Land
I Wouldn’t Mind
Hymn
The Dawn’s Request
Star-Feild on Red Lines
The release date is still up in the air but I’m really shooting for the end of Aug. or Sep.
Bye for now,
DS

Thanks for the update! As always, I am anxiously awaiting your next release.

Hm… August, for my birthday, sounds good. How lucky: New Better Than Ezra, Ben Folds, AND Duncan Sheik albums! Can’t wait to hear it! Keep up the great work, it is much appreciated.

The track listing looks great…plus a “surprise” bonus…we are all in for a treat(which happens to be TERRIFIC). Well Duncan, sure sounds like a very busy summer for you…do not forget to take some R&R…
See you in Philly…if I am lucky…maybe you might play one of the songs from the upcoming CD. :-)
Cheers,
Leveriza

Incredible how reading this makes me feel so “inside” the project!!! Even though I`m not even in touch!
May 15th, 2005 at 10:12 pm
Ooo-hoo-hoo!
New Sheiky noises! And just before/after my b’day?
Fan-flippin-tastic! You give the best present Duncan.
So, “something waaaay more fun” that isn’t a bonus track…
Hmmm. I’ll keep my guessing silent for now.
My anticipation? Maybe not so much.
Hope all is well: I know you’re going to be oober busy and so,
just stretch that wish as far as you can muster.
I must go away now.
Page long synopsis due tomorrow about advertising
in the early 1900s, and its affects on English class structure…
Ah, procrastination. I?m such the diamond-maker.
Going back to the wretched hw,

I’m very much looking forward to this! I have no doubt it will be a great ending to the summer.

This news causes great excitement.
In urelated news, I plan on redirecting www.duncansheik.org to your members site so that people searching for multimedia DS content can get it straight from the man himself. More people paying you for memberships is exactly the kind of support I’d like to see you getting. Thank you for making some of the most spectacular humble music of all time.

Beautiful!
hey I don’t wanna be one of those “bandwagon” fans that tries to be like those who have been there from the start…so…yeah, just wanted to let you know that. I’m just mad at myself for not discovering your work earlier! Damn, all your stuff is just so…ah, anyway just keep it up.

I can’t wait for the cd and the tour make sure to come to denver,co. i have a suggestion for the memebers only section, DS ring tones, not the polyphonic ones the real song ones. A cool way to advertise the cd would be to release a dvd with ALL of your music videos, the band fuel did this for their latest cd.

Another favorite artist of mine sings (quite beautifully, I might add) ,”Music is worthless unless it can make a complete stranger break down and cry.”
I must say, your music surely fits the bill. Keep on keeping it up. Can’t wait to find out first hand what your newest creations will move us to (other than smiles, tears and deeply provoked thoughts)

Thanks for the update Duncan. I love seeing the names of the songs but having no idea what they are. It’s fun to wonder. It’s also fun to wonder what you mean by something “waaay more fun” than a hidden track. I’m SO looking forward to this album. Have I mentioned that? Yeah, I probably have…maybe once or twice… :)

well, i really don’t want to look that ridiculous, but i’m still begging you… :D

Hi, Duncan
This is your bieggest mexican fan posting a message. Hope you?Lll read it. I’ve been following all of your work and let me tell you that I think that you are one of the most tallented person I’ve ever heard. Un fortunetlly here in mexico I think that not many people knows your music or if they know they ve only listened your first album.
As far as i can recall I guess you played once in a music fest in acapulco right? long time ago!.
Probably you receive a lot of comments like these one but this one is special because Im a musician too, and I grew uo listening all of your material and some how your sound became an influence in My music. Those four albums never leave my music rack of the month, very complete albums. I hope that the fifth can show us the next step in your music (I heard the b-sides, I like them a lot, cool athmosphere you achieved).
One of mi biggest wishess would be see you perfom live (maybe in a Mexican venue) and probably talk with you and tell you how much I admire and respect your music. the other one is to make a record and that maybe you produce a song of it.
Well then. Gotta go. hope that you reply.
Aldo

Can’t wait!! :)

I look forward to the album. I don’t buy many CD’s anymore, but I will definitely be purchasing this one, especially after hearing the “An Evening” b-side.
Two requests before you start mixing on Wednesday: a 5.1 mix (Dual Disc or DVD Audio or whatever you please), or some other form of higher bitrate mix. I can’t imagine a better or more appropriate use for these high definition audio formats than for your music.
See you on June 4.
May 16th, 2005 at 8:19 pm
A 5.1 mix would be incredible…
Do you plan on making this cd available on iTunes?
May 16th, 2005 at 11:19 pm
Fantastic Toys and Corduroys is a great song title. Can’t wait!!
May 17th, 2005 at 9:22 pm
Something better than the hidden track? Hop it’s a DVD! Love to be able to watch you live whenever I want =) I’ve only been able to see you live once. Your concert was my first concert ever. It was when you last performed at the Belly Up in San Diego. Hope you’ll come back!
May 17th, 2005 at 11:38 pm
Sounds amazing D.
Best of luck with it.
Hey, see you in a few short weeeks.
Love and Peace, M. :)

Star-Feild on Red Lines is such a cool song name. It’ll be the first song I play I’m sure. I love astronomy and know ALL stars are “red shifting” on the doppler radar, which means EVERY star and galaxy is moving away from us here on planet Earth. When astronomers found this out, the first thought was that WE were the center of the universe. How narcissistic! Can’t wait to hear it.
May 20th, 2005 at 2:06 pm
Just reading through these song titles again and would like to say… I’m absolutely DYING to hear these songs! Yes DYING, in capital letters.

duncan, I was wondering if lost on the moon is on the new record. I saw it on my space, it was categorized under your daylight cd, but on the copy i have this track is not around??? Its a great song that I would love to have a copy of.
May 21st, 2005 at 12:50 pm
Judging by the song titles, it seems like you’re going in a bit of a different direction than on the previous albums, no?
June 12th, 2005 at 4:54 pm
I’m sooooo glad I checked your website to discover that you’ve been working on a new CD!!! I was fortunate to meet you at a Tower Records CD signing in Sherman Oaks, CA, and saw you at the House of Blues in Hollywood. I believe you looked at me twice and smiled.)
I’m living in Charleston, SC, now. My name is Dawn… so I couldn’t help being amused by the song “The Dawn’s Request”. I just “pretend” it’s for me. :D
