It’s a beautiful Monday here in California, Claudy, about 70 degrees. Kasey Chambers is singing while I Blog.

    Cheers

Really glad you decided to do the members thing, well worth the money so far, and there’s only been one show post. Thanks!

It’s an okay day in Pittsburgh. A bit windy.

Hello, Duncan. Just signed up now. Couple quick stories: my wife and I caught you a couple years ago in Mpls opening for Ben Folds. It was our first exposure to you [aside from Barely Breathing]. We were blown away! Bought Daylight that week. Played it non-stop. I played it so much that I stopped playing it. A few months later I went to get it out of the case and the CD was missing! I looked for a couple weeks and gave up. But the case kept haunting me. A good year later I finally bought it again. My wife and I were just listening to it in the kitchen while we did dishes. We didn’t forget a word, a melody or harmony. It’s now on my iPod where it will keep me company on many a commute into the city. I really hope you have a new release soon. I’ll have to check out the site more to see if you have any news in this regard. We recently had an opportunity to move to Raleigh NC for work but decided after visiting and researching that we couldn’t make the move from Minneapolis. One of the key reasons aside from schooling, etc. was the utter lack of national artists playing anywhere closer than ATLANTA! I saw the post before this that you’re playing Raleigh this year. Oh, the irony. If I remember right [or if I ever knew] you’re in Chicago… Midwest Representin’. Now that it’s May it will be great if we can achieve temps over 45. Much love and respect. -Nate

  8. Britty Says:

Doing well, Duncan. Any news on the album?
Chilly in Edmonton today, but it got nicer as the day went on. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be 18 degrees celsius, which is…sixty-one farenheit, apparently. Can’t wait!

  9. roxxyy28 Says:

    Hi Duncan,

Geez, what a Monday! I’m tired as hell and the week has only just begun.

Listened to your acoustic set at Cornell- excellent indeed. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Also, not sure if I should bring this up now but I was just thinking how much your music and spirit has meant to me over the last 8 years or so, especially just recently as I traveled across Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Your music has never made more sense to me as it did on this solo journey. Though I have only met and spoke with you briefly, you will always remain a close friend and I’ll always feel understood while listening to your music- such a precious gift.

With that said, I would like to share with you the same kindness and openness you have shared with me and so many others. Because I strongly believe in you and everything you create, I would like to help in the promotion of your new album and tour. We need to expose people, get a grass roots movement going here. For years you’ve sung our thoughts and strummed our spirits. So why not utilize your fan base to help spread your music and love. Now I’m just throwing out some ideas but what do you think about designating online and geographic street teams for the areas you plan to travel to. I’ve done some research and they seem to be productive if done in an organized and diligent manner. Or what about one or two song CD samplers, e-card sound samples, poster and flyer distribution. If we put our heads together- exposure is inevitable. I’m just skimming my thoughts here, but we can do so much more.

    What are your thoughts?

Peace and Much Love from California,
    Roxanne

I’m winding down from a long. It’s been cold here…funny, the calendar reads May, but the winds feel like November…..

Anyway, I’m having a glass of wine and listening to your s/t. Serena is playing….I haven’t heard it in awhile, I’d forgotten how awesomely rockin’ that song is!!! :) yeah, I love a good guitar riff.

I hope you’ve had a great evening…I’m off to shut my eyes and let the music lullaby me to sleep….

    goodnight!

  11. kandi Says:

    day…a long day….

    lol

  12. Tansy Says:

In a few words: the week before finals/term papers/group projects are due. Also just started the new job, which is now conspiring with my other job-that I’ve finally decided NOT to quit… (gotta save some $$$ for pub-hopping this summer!) Oh, and did I mention my boy’s family’s in town this weekend?

    Whew.

I suppose it’s Redbull and libraries from here on out.
    :gulp, gulp, gulp:

    Toodles for now.

Ps. How are YOU oh, Mr. Sheik?

  13. Hatter Says:

Bah, the one show I can actually see… the Annapolis one? I’ll be out of town this weekend so I’ll be shafted once again. I bought a book about writing screenplays. Duncan, would you like to be written into a movie? Something of a documentary? Such as Spinal Tap? Haha. Just kidding. You’re too good for movies anyway.

  14. Hatter Says:

Oops, when I said “this” weekend, I meant “that” weekend… I think that makes a bit more sense.

  15. Topaz Says:

Good morning to you Duncan! How are you on this superb Tuesday morning? I’m just wondrous. Seems like so many good things are happening. Life is darn good. And Spring is finally here! Wahoo! Been building my dream home in the country and it’s moving along nicely. It’s like a dream. Ooh, spent the day in the woods this past Sunday and found the coolest round Indian artifact. It’s just amazing but I can’t figure out what it is…

I really enjoyed the Cornell acoustic set. I especially liked hearing “Lover From Hell”. Haven’t heard you do that one live. Also, I always LOVE LOVE “End of Outside” and wow did it sound great. I’m so looking forward to seeing you at some shows. It’s nice to have something like this to look forward to. And thanks for keeping us so well informed. Have a great day. That goes for everyone else reading this as well. :) Happy Tuesday!

  16. ALackofColor84 Says:

Thanks for the Member’s area….I do love how you started playing ‘Wishful’ and then just stopped to talk about the video. I can’t wait for Aug 6 in Chicago. Keep up all the great work.

What’s with all the weather forecasts?

As for me, I need to find a t-shirt that says: “Same shit, diff’rent day.”

  18. android Says:

Hmm…. This is my first time log in to the room….
whew….. a like this kinda thing… the look of the site…… simple but…

  19. lotusblossom Says:

Looking forward to the Annapolis show - if I can get there, that is. I live in No. VA right outside of DC and don’t currently have a car, so I’m trying to see how I can get there. Anyone here live in the area?

  20. Tina Says:

How is everyone doing? I would be doing a lot better if you would add a Toronto or Detroit date…or right here in London would be best, hehe! :)

  21. MeganRae Says:

    Hello All!

This is my frist time posting but I wanted to say that I am glad that I finally looked for Duncan’s website. I am a huge fan since the first album came out years ago it seems. Just wanted to leave a message of hello and thanks to Duncan for the many nights of listening your album collection and finding great comfort and inspiration in your songs. I am looking forward to finally seeing you in concert sometime soon. I can’t wait for the new album.

    Bye for Now!!!

  22. Scott Effman Says:

Hey Duncan, it’s Scott Effman, the guy who you took out to dinner with that Taiwanese girl in Wisconsin. My music is getting bigger, I’d love you to check it out. www.scotteffman.com Thanks!

  23. Jim Says:

  28. Wayso Jayso Says:

Doing ok, just being ultra lazy as of late and catching up on sleep. I can’t wait to hear the new album.

  29. leveriza Says:

I am well…thanks for asking…just came back from our flat in the city…entertaining relatives…lots of fun but it was most definitely an exhausting four-day weekend. I love the acoustic set in Cornell…absolutely cannot wait for more. Additionally, very much looking forward to your upcoming performances…so far everything is a plane ride away(not a problem)…will you be coming to San Francisco at all?

Take good care and be well.

    Cheers,
    Leveriza

  30. Zaphod Says:

Hey, good news to hear about the upcoming releases/additions to the site. It’s always good to learn someone is moving forward. I’m looking forward to the performance in august. Luckily I only live a few hours from Chicago, and they’re having a ton of festivals and plenty of music going on this summer. Should be fun.

  31. Matthias Says:

Duncan, please play Southeast Michigan on the way to Chicago. There are a number of good venues for you, The Ark in Ann Arbor would sell out for you as they have a great venue (no heckling) and are on U-M campus. Will appreciate your Good morning intro humor. Also, Emerald Ballroom and Macomb Perfoming Arts theatre are other good venues for an acoustic set.

I’ll rally the troops if you can come and start a street team if need be.

    Matthias

  32. Topaz Says:

Hi again Duncan. Happy Wednesday. :) Just curious…who will be your bandmates at these shows…Gerry? Jeff? Doug? Matt? David? None of the above? All of the above? Inquiring mind(s?) want to know.

    Laura

  33. 1daydreamer Says:

    WHOA Duncan…SO:

I did not know until 5 minutes ago that the song “Serena” existed. BY the way, my name is Serena, just to let you know ;). I’m transferring colleges next year and I’m just plain in a WEIRD place right now, leaving my friends, etc…

Your song basically said everything I needed to hear.
“Serena, in an effort to avoid
    The things that annoy you
    You hide-far, far away
And life just passes you by…”

That’s CRAZY…I mean, it’s beautiful, and I just wanted to thank you I guess. The day after kinda freaking out about leaving, this song was kind of a…sign, I guess. It was just a crazy little experience.

Hope all is well…and thank you again.

    Love, Serena

Hey, I just joined. I’m doing pretty good, can’t complain, and you? You should try to make your way to WV. It’d be great to hear you live. (just a suggestion) :)

  35. 1daydreamer Says:

One more thing…who is “Serena” inspired by? If you don’t mind the personal question…I’m just curious. Can’t help it =)…

    Thanks, ??erena

  37. kandi Says:

    Hey! Happy Thursday!

As I sit here listening to Fake Plastic Trees from Cornell (which is amazing btw) I became alittle curious…. (and I could be totally wrong) You tend to change the song line up often, but FPT seems to always be included….so I’m wondering, is it your favorite song to perform?
Is that a dumb question? :)

Just for fun, and since we’re on the subject, I’m gonna take a few moments to put together my own “favorites” line up…It’d go something like this…

    She Runs Away
    Serena
    Half Life
    Far Away
    A Mirror In the Heart
    Leaving…an extended version
    Alibi
    Absence of Sun
    Reel Around the Fountain
    Genius
    Lost on the Moon
    Fake Plastic Trees
    Now or Never….just cuz I know you’ll never…(punk!) :)
Someone You Need……so pretty and I love the piano….
    Home
    On Her Mind
    Foreshadowing
    On a High
    Shine Inside
The View from the Other Side

and for the encore…just for fun…
    Barely Breathing :)

I could add others, but I’m thinking I’m already pushing my luck… hahah

    have a good day all!

I now have less than 3 weeks to finish up this “Experimental Psycholgy.” Can you believe that for over 6 months, I just could not do this work. I’m at the end, but I’m so, so tired with this new job…over 80 miles a day driving, not including the work day. Most days are 12 hour days or longer….5 days a week. I have been up to the “Financial District” twice now, and MidTown twice/Jersey City Financial District once for meetings. Last visit to NYC was last Friday on Wall Street. Work is taking up most all of my time.

Put some good vibes out there Guys. I must get this school work done now. Your good words Always help and work somehow…It always gives me inner strength. Thanks and well, thanks again. When I’m done with this Experimental Psychology, I can finish up my 3 Maths to get my BA, hopefully by the Fall. Thanks Guys. I know I can always count on You.

    Hi Duncan!

I’m okay. Still a little sad. My grandmother passed away almost two weeks ago but I’m hanging in. Thanks for asking. Not that you really wanted to know all that much but regardless..

Best of luck with the tour!

  40. Topaz Says:

jenvargas, I’m very sorry about your grandmother. *hugs* to you. I hope time is making things a bit easier for you. I’ve been wanting to say this every time I read your comment and don’t know why I haven’t.

    Laura

  41. jennnn Says:

Laura, thanks for the kind thoughts. It’s been a really rough time for my mom and me but we’re getting through.. My grandmother practically raised me and just to realize that she’s not here anymore is very sobering, painful, confusing, sad.. :(
