Hello everyone
This page is now, I hesitate to use the word, a blog. Which means I will post here more frequently, and you should respond to those posts to your hearts content. I understand if you say you’ll believe it only when you see it, but I will seek to mend my non-communicative ways. Another addition to this site will be a “members only” area. High quality downloads of live shows, b sides, and covers will be made available for members, as well as special offers, discounts on shows and possibly thin nylon jackets from the early eighties.
In other news, I am setting up a small indie label called Sneaky Records and I’m currently working on the first four releases: Chris Garneau, Micah Green, the “Untitled New York Rock Group”, and my fifth release. Sorry it all taking longer than expected but once the label is set up things will happen at a fast and furious pace (relatively speaking).
I hope this message finds you well and I hope to see some of you at SXSW music festival in Austin TX on March 16. Chris, Micah and I will be playing at The Drink to kickoff Sneaky Records.
XO

March 11th, 2005 at 3:05 pm
Very cool! I’ll buy an 80’s jacket.
March 11th, 2005 at 3:13 pm
whats duncan gonna be playing at the concert in austin?
March 11th, 2005 at 3:43 pm
Hey Duncan! I’m excited to hear you are workin’ on your own lable and a new album. Sounds very exciting. It’s impressive to see an artist move from the foregrounds of their career and expand into different territories.
My good friend, Dana Kamide is a singer/songwriter/producer. (unsigned). www.DanaKamide.com is his website. He holds you in high reguard. He has tagged you as “the most underated artist of our time.” There’s a bunch of tracks on his site. He too is an amazing artist. Check him out.
Good Luck with everything!

Well I just returned from a solo journey across Asia. I visited Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, India, China and Japan. I have pics to share if anyone is interested. No words can really describe all that I’ve experienced but it was indeed life changing. When you are stripped away from everything that defines you- friends, family, job and all that is materialistic, it is inevitable that you begin to question “just who the hell am I?” You begin to rise within something, all that is real and of your own true nature. It’s all so beautiful. I’ve seemed to have gapped a spiritual divide between what I know and who I am. And though the world is made up of such beautifully distinct cultures and creeds our humanity will always remain our commonality. If only we focused on what we have in common rather than what separates us. I can’t stress it enough-go and see the World, immerse yourself in other cultures and strip away the layers of your conditioned self.
In other random thought: If we are made up of all the elements of the Universe, then aren’t we in a way the Universe trying to understand itself? If this is true, wouldn’t that make us the center of the Universe? As if we are the universe’s expressions of its own self-contemplation. Maybe instead of conceptualizing the the big bang and all of life’s continual creations as the universe’s outward expression-like the birth of a child from a womb, life really is an inward expansion of understanding itself. Inward instead of outward expression. Like our existence is a stop on the way to the heart of the universe. What do you think?
Anyway, I’m having a rough time adjusting to the land of Americana, almost like I’m still traveling and I’ve entered another foreign country. Strange. But I do have questions: Why is that guy still living in the White House? What happened to Brad and Jen? And more importantly, is Tim McGraw a hip hop singer now? I’m confused.
This is the first time I’ve visited this site in a while. I like the changes, simplistic and raw. How are ya Duncan? Goodness, haven’t seen you in quite sometime. I was just going through some old photos and pulled out some pics from your show way back in ‘96 at the Hard Rock in Vegas. Jeez, that was some time ago, and look at you now, still excellent! Please know that you were a good friend to me while I was traveling and it’s not surprising that your music makes more sense to me now than ever before. I will be leaving the country in the Fall, going to tackle Mexico and South America to research my familia. I do hope you come around the Los Angeles area soon (though I know it’s not your favorite ;-) Look forward to seeing you again!
Sorry for the length, just had some thoughts to share. I hope you all are so well and enjoying every moment, it’s really all you ever have!
Peace and Much Love,
Roxanne

Hey Duncan. This is something new isn’t it? So, do you really think you’ll be more inclined to stop by more often here? That would really be cool.
Well, I’m hoping on still getting that job, which will bring to the City….then I can see you Guy’s up in the City more often. Spring is just around the corner. I am so happy, I cannot tell you. It’s such a peaceful time of year, or atleast it should be. Can’t wait to hear your new stuff (for a lack of using a better word) I’m getting lazy in my old age. Really, I’m just taking it more easy. Well, I’m trying. We all should. Yeah, there’s enough Peace and happiness to go around for us all if our hearts are in the right place.
Best of luck with everything new your working on. Hey, tell David I said hello when you see him. :) Hope to see you soon. Cool!!
Always love,
Michele (and all that good stuff) :) Goodnight Duncan. xo
March 12th, 2005 at 11:29 pm
Duncan you rock! Thanks for the “blog” thing…yeah. I want to get my mitts on some cool nylon 80s jacket. It’d be sweet. Hope all goes well with SXSW. Finances have me in a bind and it looks like I won’t be able to attend afterall. Tis a shame. I leave TX, and you end up there. Bummer. Come to Colorado, now. I’m all over it.
March 13th, 2005 at 7:52 am
So are the jackets going to be made in the 80’s style or are they actually going to be from the 80’s? Inquring minds want to know.
Have a nice day.
March 13th, 2005 at 10:12 am
Honey, we know who you are, and if we bother you so much, why do you watse your time here?
March 13th, 2005 at 10:55 am
Are you still selling your cd’s at $1,000 each? Yeah, we know who you are…now go away!!!
March 13th, 2005 at 1:02 pm
now. nimrod. for goodness sake. in a way, in having a website and promoting yourself/views you are making yourself “famous”. so shut up about all your crap, weirdo!!! you cannot say all other music that is not yours is crap because you havent heard all the music in the world, have you? no. so i think thats sorted. this is a site for someone else (who probably does have art in their house, you just haven’t seen it), not for your constant wittering. so go away.
March 13th, 2005 at 1:12 pm
Wow, this site has been around for one day and it has already resulted in a fight. That’ll encourage Duncan to post. Todd, maybe you should edit this thing.
March 13th, 2005 at 3:43 pm
Ummmm…. why don’t you attack Clear Channel! Gee I don’t think Duncan has anything to do with what is out there on the airwaves these days or we would be hearing Duncan all over the place. It is because Duncan does not conform that we don’t hear him all over the radio. I think I can safely say that most of us here DO NOT worship the media. I also think I can say that we are very grateful to be banned from hearing your art. Thank you for sparing us.
March 13th, 2005 at 3:43 pm
Aside from the obvious, this is nice.
Hi Duncan….
While I take this moment to reiterate how much we completely appreciate your taking time out of your busy schedule to drop us a line, I’d like to further promise, that you have our full support in all that you do!

I wish that I could be out in Austin on the 16th. to see you. Unfortunately, there’s no chance of that happening. It would sure brighten my day. :)
Catch you back in town, where the Music will be ever so cool, as all of your Fans here.

March 14th, 2005 at 5:52 am
yey! a blog! way to go duncan! you’re really making an effort in communicating with us. i, for one, highly appreciate it. of course, i’ll just try to be in your SXSW concert in spirit (roundtrip airfare from manila to US and back costs A LOT!). wish you could come back here though…
*just an afterthought: i can already picture someone who, in his/her old age, will be sitting on a creaky rocking chair located in a banged-up stuffy, dusty wooden house in some godforsaken desert, cursing other people for their lack of “artsiness” in their lives. guess who? :)
March 14th, 2005 at 6:06 am
Peace from South Africa!
I have been checking this site almost everyday since the last change to
hopefully see something about a new album. I’m vey happy to see something is in the pipeline. There is nothing like anticipating one of your favourite artistes new albums.
PS: if people are talented, they don’t need to say it all the time. just a
thought.

Hi DS! It’s me…Laura(Topaz). Yes, I know it appears as if my name is carl… I’m having log-in issues. So, call me carl for now. No, actually, please don’t. I may forever remain carl on here. Only time will tell. Which would be strange but o.k.
Anyway, I wanted to say a couple of things to you. The first thing is…hi! The second thing is, thanks for keeping us updated. It’s nice to hear from you every now and then. And I think you’re very sweet to want to communicate with us a bit more. You’re a good soul. :) The third, and last thing I wanted to say is, have a good safe trip to Texas. And I hope it’s a great show and lots of fun for you guys! Oh, one more thing… I would love it if you headed back to the Albany area sometime. It’d be so close to me and I could bring my daughter, who has really been wanting to see you live for some time now…she likes your music. So, I guess there were four things I wanted to say.
Peace out!
Laura(aka carl)

Damn. I missed the drama - I’m always about 1 day late. This site almost had it all - love, sex, music AND drama. I guess we’ll just have to be satisfied with focusing back on one of the best singer/songwriters of our time and his news. I, for one, am thrilled about that.
The Other Laura.
But she’s the only Carl. :)
March 14th, 2005 at 7:37 pm
Hey Duncan -
Thanks for your efforts (especially your vow to be “more communicative”) - but I think you’re already really accessible to your fans, which I certainly appreciate. You’re creating some very spoiled children. Have fun w/Sneaky prep; it sounds like a really fun project, and very good of you to strengthen the scene. Thanks for just being your spiffy self. Take care :D
March 14th, 2005 at 9:27 pm
Hello Duncan,
I am so excited to see a blog from you. I am a long time fan and really am so appreciative of your music. It really is beautiful and I am so glad it is around. You always make me smile.
March 14th, 2005 at 11:06 pm
Hey Guy’s,
I saw a pretty good movie tonight…and I don’t usually go to the movies that much. I had received 2 advance sneak preview tickets to see”The Upside of Anger.” It was funny mostly, but certainly had it’s serious sides. I’m no great big fan of Kevin Costner, but he was good in it and Joan Allen was excellent… It’s well worth going to see. I particularly liked what they had to say at the end…..good story too. (But you’ll have to see it…for that stuff)
Hey D,
Have a great time in Texas…. Wish I were there….but as I said…I’ll see you when you get back… Thanks for the Peace you always bring Duncan. :)
Much love & peace,
Michele :)

Hi Duncan,
What a terrific surprise to read your new blog! It’s great to hear about your upcoming plans. I look forward to all that you have in store for us.
And, as a member of your forgiving public, I’m more than willing to offer you a pass. Tomorrow is a new day after all and a new opportunity for you to tell us all about your yesterday.
Until Then,

March 15th, 2005 at 2:17 am
Hey there Duncan.
I’ve never written on a blog before. I’ve been meaning to get in touch but wasn’t sure if that’d be okay, so i suppose this is my only venue for the time being. I can only hope that you’ll actually get to this message among the slew of other fanmail. haha!
Just wanted to say a few things and thank you for lots. :o)
I saw the show up here at Cornell. To be totally honest, I loved it. I know in general there were mixed reactions, but I really really enjoyed it. It was a great combination and balance of classics and spice. The visual imagary was great since (for me) it was stimulating, but not distracting. I have a penchant for weird aesthetics though. haha.
Really I have to thank you for introducing me to such wonderful things in the short time that you were here. It’s amazing the power we all possess to positively influence other people, whether they be our closest friends or people that have no idea who we are. You know that already though. We can talk about it more another time. Kudos to passing on the Bodhisattva energy!
Finally, I have to tell you, that I love your music. (As one trained musician to another, understand that i really mean MUSIC in the ultimate sense of the word.) After listening to the sample of “Such Reveries” (that I already told you i love love love) I bought the disc. Your voice has this wonderfuly haunting yet warming quality to it that invites and inspires love and compassion.
Okay. Enough of my rambling. I wish you well. Looking forward to crossing paths again.
Cheers.

Hey I just wanted to say that I can’t wait to meet you in person SXSW. I wanna get a pic of you giving to hookem horns sign. See ya.
March 15th, 2005 at 4:49 am
Hey, I’ve got a question: Will Micah Green’s album on Sneaky be different from his first, indy album? Or is it a re-release? I have the indy and love it; you guys should all give it a shot.
Can’t wait for DS vol. 5 . . .
March 15th, 2005 at 8:31 am
Micah and Duncan are working on Micah’s new record. All new material that’s sounding really dope thus far. I think you’ll like it a lot.
March 15th, 2005 at 9:52 am
I’m so happy to see all this new great energy here Duncan and all the positive vibes. Yeah, it feels great. I know the upcoming Spring and Summer is going to be great for us all…and very productive.
I just can’t wait to hear the new stuff. Oh, your always so full of surprises.
Much Peace,

I am officially pissed off I can’t see the show tonight. I live in Austin and I have taken only Friday off this year to see shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This really sucks.
Blech.
At least I’ll get to see: Blind Boys of Alabama-> Mavis Staples-> Amos Lee-> RR and the Family Band.
I’m still pissed, though.
March 17th, 2005 at 1:31 am
I’m extremely bummed. Right now Duncan’s at the Drink and I’m sitting at home, wishing I had bought that wristband and/or the circumstances that caused me to be late to the show had been much different. Alas, Duncan, you looked fabulous through the window setting up until the blue meanies (and they were in this case) told me to move on. Hopefully, I’ll run into you somewhere on 6th street and be able to convince you to come back and play another show in Austin… Then I’ll totally be better prepared.
March 17th, 2005 at 2:12 am
ya me too
March 17th, 2005 at 3:02 am
I was there tonight to see your show at SXSW. Didn’t have a band/ badge, so I was watching from the outside. I was the short blonde girl outside jammin and smiling, you even turned and smiled at me! :) Great show. I’ve ben wanting to catch you for years! Hopefully next time I can actually get in. But I enjoyed the show. Was sure jamming along. Love ya!
Congrats on the new label.

Hey Duncan, I saw you at the Aladdin in Portland, OR in 03′. Front row, after the show asked you for your guitar pick you came back and handed it to me. VERY COOL!
So now I live in CT. Stamford has excellent venues. When are you coming here? Keep up the good work.
March 17th, 2005 at 4:03 am
Hi..
I LOVE u duncan. I don’t have any deep thaughts to share like some people did and they were all great. But without a doubt your this awesome soundtrack in my life. When i listen to your music it reminds me of where i was and how i was feeling at the time. Hope to see you play soon. Thanks for everything. Looking forward to the new four release.

Consider yourself lucky…that you’ll get to see Amos Lee Friday night. Tell him PLEASE…that Blackwuzzy sends her love…..Please do that for me. I saw him here a couple of weeks ago….in Philly town. I’ve been following him for years…He’s so talented… :) You’ll just love him…what a voice….and talk about Soul. Man…. I’m just glad he’s finally getting his due recognition!!!!
I wish I could be there too for Duncan tonight…but in a way…we’re all there anyway Guy’s…. I’m sure he’s having as great a day as I am.
Be cool and have fun…

Wish I to could be there. Love to see DS play live. I live in Ireland been listening to duncan since she runs away came out. Belive it or not I first heard D when I bought a gateway pc some years ago and the software for my dvd player had some videos on one was she runs away. After that I search high and low for the albums, but no luck got them in the end on hmv. Duncan played in Ireland few years ago, unfortunaly before I heard his music. Can anyone tell if DS has any plans to come to Ireland again. I have loads of room in my house if ya just want to visit. Maybe even teach us a few new chords on my guitar…. Looking forward to your new album Duncan all the best.

I’ve been a way for so long that I feel like a new kid at school and I’m lost! I stoped by to see if there is a new album in the works or tour dates coming my way, but I can’t find any info.
I’m not sure how old the new site design is but it would be helpful to have a home button or menu button at the top of the page for the people like me.

It’s the strangest thing….
I was just watching 20/20 with Barbara Walters interviewing Rosie O’Donnell and her partner just a couple of hours ago (I had it on my TiVo), and Rosie was saying how she has a blog. I thought to myself, “Duncan should have a blog.” But then I thought, “It’ll never happen” because he never seems to update his site. Then, out of the blue after not checking this site for months, I decided just to check in, and here it is!
I guess sometimes wishes DO come true. :)
April 12th, 2005 at 10:42 pm
YAY! I’ll be here constantly! Welcome to the blogosphere Duncan!

Thanks.

The times I see are there on the first page. (My oversight) Soon I’m going to need glasses….in my old age. Well, only for reading!!
Or if I’m staring at the computer all day long…like I have to do now. Yuck!!! You know how it goes….. I must say, on my last trip up to the City, NYC was looking prettier than ever…..though cloudy outside. They are putting flowers around…and seem to be really taking care. What a place to live and make Music. How inspiring it must be for you Guy’s…….
I’m off to sleep. Peace & Love to all.
