In the Limo w/ Mr. Poe
David Poe came by last night to record the background/harmony vocals for “White Limousine”. His voice is killing. Hopefully he will sing on a few other songs as well and we will be a few steps closer to being finished with the new record (which will probably be called “White Limousine” by the way). Just trying to keep you posted …

Yay! Ever since I heard about “White Limousine” in the news article about the Concert for Kerry, I’ve been wondering when I would be able to hear it for myself.

sweet, album name. any chance you could hint at what the sound of the album will be? just one word? anything?
April 10th, 2005 at 7:00 pm
I’m curious about what this album will sound like. I hope the rest of the process goes smoothly. Thank you for keeping us up to date! :)

Sounds groovy, I have to agree with the others, what is the album going to sound like? Lots of acoustic guitar? Electric? Orchestra? Piano? Kazoo??

I can’t wait…very slick title.

We definitely appreciate you keeping us updated. White Limousine, kind of puts a picture in my brain of the general mood of the CD, though knowing me I’m probably off by a bit. Can’t wait to hear it for myself :0)

White Limousine. Good title.
Kinda paints some late 80s flashiness in mind.
I see a limo door just ajar- a well dressed pant leg, and one super sophsiticated masculine shoe. “Just stepping out…” it seems to say.
Is that fog that I see in the background?
Too bad I wasn’t at my prime in the 80s.
I might have made some money off of that kind of imagery.
Oh well.
Glad to hear it’s coming along Duncan.

Thanks for the update Duncan!

As we all are, im very excited to get duncan’s new album in my ears. I’ve given up trying to think about what it will be like because i know it is going to be quite different, which is always enjoyable. I love when an artist shows their versitility. Should be another beautifully creative project from DS…looking forward to it!

lots and lots of piano please!!!!!

Is it wrong for me to hope that the album is dark, sophisticated , and pop-unfriendly? :) Of course, I’d just be happy for new music. In the meantime, you Sheikites should check out the latest from The Album Leaf entitled ‘Seal Beach’. The album leaf is a great San Diego band. It is hard to describe their music, but ambient mellow moods come close. Iron and Wine also has a new EP out called ‘Woman King’. I wonder why folk music and electronic go together for me?

I have recently started listening to David Poe’s “The Late Album” and find it amazing. It gives me the chills just as Duncan’s music does, and Ryan Adams as well.
I am really looking forward to the Duncan/Davod Poe collaboration.
For those of you who haven’t checked out “The Late Album” do yourself a favor and do it now. I won’t recommend any one song- they’re all delicious.

Dear Duncan,
I saw David…just tonight actually in Philly. 4/13… I have been following him for years now… Yes, he is certainly great. Now, I asked him to say hello to you this weekend, from me. I think he will most likely forget….so I’m saying hello now. (Ha)…but maybe he won’t forget..We talked for sometime. He even mentioned to me what he thinks the new Band name may be. My lips are sealed….well you know David….He had only the kindest things to say about you…. It was great to see him again. It was a very, very short set? (This new thing he’s doing)….. I passed him on my new business card…..ah, forgot my cell….have him e-mail me please.
He is the Bomb…and together you Guy’s are going to burn the place down….It’s going to be very, very hottttt!!!!
See you soon at those secret shows in June. :)
Well hopefully,
M :) Goodnight Duncan….. (Would have written sooner, but this new job & finishing up school is running me in circles…..See you soon…
Much peace. Two of my very best Musicians. You cannot get any better than that. Can’t wait D……love.

Come to think of it..I think Bruce Hornsby may have a song by that name.
:)……I’ll have to check my CD…..well, it still doesn’t beat the name he was thinking of for the band. A Man after my own heart!

“His Voice Is Killing.”
Yes it is. The darker, the better Duncan.

I would assume that if you and David sing in unison, harmony, etc., that would be extremely sexy, knowing you two Guy’s. Both of your voices are so, so smooth, so it will fly anyway. More like sail I’m sure.
It’s gonna soar very, very high…this new music. :)

Um, secret shows? Band name? Gah! Great. I’m not TOO curious now…Nope… Wuzzy Wuzzy Wuzzy…Why? You know I love you but some things are just better left unsaid, you know?
Laura(beyond curious now)

I just fell in love with David’s voice today. Honestly, I had no idea it was so sweet. Last year I saw him at the Living Room(with you Duncan…great show by the way and the songs you did together were so nice), but didn’t really know who he was, although I thought he sounded great. And he was also very smiley and friendly. :) So anyway, I just recently picked up his S/T album as well as “The Late Album”. Today I had a chance to listen to both. I love him! He’s got the same silky-voice thing you’ve got going on Duncan, yet different. I can’t wait to see what you guys do together on these albums.

although david poe is unheard of here (and i personally don’t know him and his music) i’m glad, duncan, that you keep on finding great vocalists for your recordings.
and nice touch on the album title. “white limousine”… wonder why…

David Poe’s voice is beautiful. I love “the drifter”. I just heard a new female artist interviewed on NPR, her name is Susie Suh. Her voice moved me. Her song writing is eloquent and full of emotional depth for such a young woman.
I am eager to hear your new work as well! It will be fabulous as usual.
Best, Angelina

Topaz,
You know, that’s when they play anonomously, by some other name and don’t tell anyone, just to try new things out. Jeff Buckley use to always do it alot.. As far as I can see- I only see the Gigs posted here on Duncan’s site. As far as a potential Band name, I think David was just pulling my leg, then again you can just never tell with him. You know how these brilliant minds work. We just have to wait and hear/see. That time seems to be nearing ever so slowly. I’m very excited for the Band….and I cannot wait to hear the Music they shall bring!!!
I’ll see you there whenever that goes down Laura. :)

I will however say that David’s set was extremely short. I’m looking forward to seeing him in Philadelphia again as well in June. He slowed down the “Love Is Red” CD so, so, so much. I thought I was going to fall asleep while driving to work…..it was so relaxing….but after a few listens…I just love it. Especially, “Love Is Red,” the title track. I absolutely have loved all of his works for years now!!!!! “Love Is Red” is just another to add to the collection. He does like Germany doesn’t he? I hear that the Citizen’s there have a respect for the Land and environment which is second to none. That’s a very ggod thing. I can’t imagine what they are going to do together. Sounds like Fun!!
